Beautifully done... Been waiting for this review ever since I found your channel! 🙏 _"You gully? We gully, too!"_ is one of my favorite lines also. "Gully" means from the gutter/the streets, hard. _H.B.O._ is up there with _P4H_ & _Balens Cho_ for me. _Tuez-Les Tous,_ with DJ Muggs, is another favorite. Good on you for prioritizing band practice! _"I bet they find you face-down in the mainstream, floating..."_ is a call-back to the hook of Outkast's "ATLiens" track, "Mainstream".

Great Christmas Present to Yourself Professor !! Also Great Review as always . I actually considered Fete Des Morts AKA Dia De Las Muertos produced by Earl Sweatshirt ,or Wap Konn Joj! as a excellent prelude to Pray For Haiti . He wasn't presenting himself a mainstream artist back then, he was crafting his sound in a refined and tailored way.. It was still gritty but also this elaborate style to it.

HBO grows on you A LOT over the months. The abstract beats and space all over the album sounds better and better over time. It’s been about a year since i first listened and I love it wayyyy more but that goes for almost all of Mach’s music. I think HBO has something that PFH doesn’t have. Also the highs on HBO aren’t touched by PFH, including Thank God, Snow Beach, and 1080p

“You gully, we gully too” is similar to his reference in Mach’s Hard Lemonade. “Jigga looking gully in that jawn like Vicky” It’s sort of a reference to a Jay Z song “feeling it” being gully means to be tough, street, raw.
@otterdonnelly99593 жыл бұрын
That’s kind of a reach. It’s closer to referencing Raekwon in “Incarcerated Scarfaces”. Every the after bars have the similar assonance and both referencing cash “You got guns, we got guns too/ What up son duke(do)/ You wanna battle for cash and see who sons who(Sun Tzu)/“ vs “You gully, we gully too/ You making funny moves with shake 'n ease/ We making money (move)/“

It’s easy to see why anyone wouldn’t think PFH is the better of the two. But trust, HBO is one of those art forms that need your time, it’s that special. NONE of PFH’s highs touch HBO’s. August Fanon’s production especially👌🏾

Shattered em, Glass jaw babbling hype for gun battling” I believe Mach is saying whoever enters into his ring is gonna have a hard time as he’s gonna be throwing missing punches at effective penman ship. He makes money as he recited words, he shatters his opponents since they have glass jaws and they only hype and talk shit if its gunplay because they’ll get fucked up if its hands only and Mach trusts his fists. Very creative song lyrically and sonically, kudos to Hommy & Fanon.

AVAA, I know I’m a couple years late but to answer your question regarding Zappa samples in hip-hop: MF DOOM samples him for the track Gumbo, technically he also samples him on Beef Rapp but it isn’t incorporated into the beat itself. Madlib also samples him on the intro to Meat Grinder. Dilla samples just his voice on the song Mash.

and after listening to f you again, i really think he's talking about different guns, putting the bandana on the gun to avoid fingerprints, allusions to spraying. and then at the end of the song hes asking for ingredients that sound like theyre for body disposal, i wouldnt know nothing abt that tho. main reason i think this tho is coz on Bloody Penthouse, he says the girl is blacker than a oven, but he thinks shes Russian, her homegirl from Czech Republic, bust it. idk with rap, you can make the oven, heater association, guns coming from Russia, and then the bust it kind of affirms it for me.

watching the twilight zone episode, its about a town with 128 dead people, and a man comes into town claiming to bring people back to life. after showing proof that hes resurrected them, they all pay him to keep them dead. he turns out to be a conman working with an actor! final twist: they really do come back in the end. feels like a supreme haitian metaphor, espcially with the hints towards voodoo. mach-hommy a genius🤷♂
