Thank you for your Mom's interview on her stay in Japan. I think that it was definitely delightful for her to meet her grandchildren. I wish she is back to Japan in autumn.

Lovely and lively mother Chako chan! From amazing family you make a wonderful family, of course with Maki😂
Nice video but the music was a little loud. Glad your mom enjoys her time there

Thank you for sharing this lovely q and a session with us. It is clear that you both love and respect each other so much. Your treasured memories of this holiday together with the family will last a lifetime, I’m sure. Sending love from Australia. ❤
Good on you for having been raising your kids bilingual so that they can communicate with their grandma! It’s no easy task for you all (including the kids themselves) especially when you (and everyone else in your family) can speak Japanese fluently. Just like in ecology, creating controlled environments is necessary in raising children though it’s not the easier way to take at the moment. Keep it up, and the future of your kids will be that much brighter.

You’re right about that! Raising bilingual kids is definitely not easy. I hope they will be able to appreciate their language skills in the future.
So glad that you got to spend some time with your Mom. I can tell that she is a very intelligent woman (now I can clearly see where you came from!) and enjoyed hearing her perspectives from American viewpoints. Did she ever get to visit Tokyo? Looking forward to your uploads!

She hasn’t ever been in Tokyo (just transiting through). It is a bit of a far trip for us to make up there being in Kansai, but maybe some day we can take her there.
As an old Japanese man living in the US for more than 30 years (educated in Japan and the US), I have witnessed many success international kids had received the Japanese education at their early age as Chako-chan and Maki as doing for their children. Having such education as their fundation, they can go to the US colleage or pursue higher education. From my experience, this will give the kids most success in their proffessional career and life.

It’s up to them of course, but we would absolutely like to provide that possibility for them in the future.

I would say you can have most fun with kids until the age of 10, so your mom visited the best time when your oldest is still under that age. I saw my nephew when he was 9 and then the COVID hit, he became 13 when I finally visited and he didn’t want to hang out with us anymore. More so he’s 15 now.

I guess we’ll see in a few years, but every kid is different and he loves his Grandma so much so I’m hopeful he’ll still want to hang out with her. She is great with older kids since she has over 30 years experience teaching middle school. 😊

@@Chakochan-MylifeinJapan My nephew too was a big fan of his grandma and he used to stay over alone without his mom since he was little up until the age 10. Generally, teenagers go through the faze of not very interactive with their family members. Of course yours can be different, but it’s good to be prepared. Regardless, it’s all temporary and I’m sure my nephew will be different once he’s at a college age.
I just wonder if ye all could go to Osaka Mint Bureau to see its Sakura cherry blossoms. cheers
@Chakochan-MylifeinJapan8 ай бұрын
Actually… we DID go to Osaka Mint! Unfortunately the trees were mostly not in bloom yet when we bought the ticket and there was no time to go again later on so hopefully next year the weather will cooperate and we can go again and see all the trees in full bloom (and film a proper video)!
Let mom enjoy the MRT in Japan. Next time, be sure to let dad enjoy all the delicious food in Japan and experience the travel classics and hot springs.

Yes he will love seeing all the castles and historical sites! My mom has ridden the Shinkansen before during her first visit.
