Thanks for sharing bands like them to the world, and to peeps in the industry. I really really hope NEMOPHILA will truely break out of Japan big time. They deserve it due to the high quality music stuff they put out. I also love the fact that Snake could tell "various influences" without it being a plain rip off of any band. That's why I listen & 💖NEMOPHILA, they are simply them

This song grows on me - and that is partly due to Snake, his comments were quite acute and I hear more in the song now.

Excellent reaction, with well-informed, insightful commentary! Nemophila have become my favorite band on the planet: versatile, skilled, and insanely charismatic. Going to see them live for the second time in a few days at the San Francisco stop of thein US mini-tour. With the caveat that I'm still very much a work-in-progress as a Japanese language learner, I believe そらい ("sora i") means "sky." EDIT: I think I got that wrong: John Magill looks to have a better translation elsewhere in the thread.

The singer for Nemophila has such a cool voice... These guys do covers of classic hard rock songs by ACDC and other groups and sound AMAZINg at it, while putting their own incredible chops to work in solos and stuff... and their singer sounds SOOOO GOOOOD at classic rock stuff... coolest sounding new unique voice in rock and metal today.

NEMOPHILA will be performing at SXSW this month, and and they are looking to make industry contacts. Please tell all your music biz friends to look for them there. BTW, to be fair, we were watching video from a live-streamed pandemic concert, but we heard the studio recording from the album.

Never heard this band before, but Skid Row's first two records were favourites, and Joel is a gentleman; and feeling a fool after doubting The Warning for so many years, maybe this band can impress me too. Best of luck, I'm pretty tough. But my mind is open. Let's go!
@justinatest9456 Жыл бұрын
Thoughts after the first verse/chorus: 1. The song sounds amazing and huge, immediately. 2. Vocals? Eh, I'll accept it. 3. I bet that drummer has never knocked a cymbal over in her life, or even broken a stick. 4. Eh, this is just pop vocals on top of metal music. 5. The guitars and bass are absolutely killer. Please note that I really do come in peace, this is just my honest opinion, and music is subjective.
@justinatest9456 Жыл бұрын
After second verse/solos/outro: 1. Vocals are definitely cooler and grittier this time around 2. The pop style hooks and chorus over all are definitely catchy 3. Those guitarists are killing it in the riff department, and are not bad in the solo/melody parts 4. That drummer :/ Over all - not bad, the guitarists are absolute killers in all regards, and the singer could maybe work for me, but that whole jpop/kpop thing is not at all my style. I'd be really curious to know when in their career this was recorded? And if Joel has reacted to any live Nemophila, I'd like to check it out, to see if they can bring it live. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, or start a flame war between fanbases, this is just one rock fan's honest opinion. Peace.
@justinatest9456 Жыл бұрын
After listening to the fella's thoughts - I agree with everything they said. Definitely a killer band over all, and very promising. And what a compliment to KISS that was, and is probably true for many bands. Ace Frehley is one of the best guitar solo writers of all time imo. Every note was so tasty and perfect from him. Truly underrated, despite all the love from so many great guitar players that followed him.
@tackle47 Жыл бұрын
Snake talking about use of melody is what you are saying about jpop. So many Western bands have abandoned melody for pure heaviness, it is great to once again hear melody in metal.

While I happen to love her fry screams, it's Mayu's expressive, slightly "smoky" clean voice that really makes her great, imo. She has an incredible knack for conveying the emotion in a song with it. Not gonna lie: I tear up a bit more often than not when I listen to "Life."

Empty. No substance. Meaningless. Useless. In Buddhism it means no essence. This is the meaning of Sorai.
@Oldmarty Жыл бұрын
be careful with the age of Japanese and others from the region (Korea, China, etc.) As a Westerner, you can quickly deceive yourself. If I have it right in mind, they are around the mid-20s and older. The drummer is probably 2 times mother.
@realdocloco Жыл бұрын
mid-20s for singer Mayu and bassist Hara-chan, late -20s for Hazuki (gtr), early-30s for Tamu (drums) and Saki (gtr). Tamu (2) and Mayu (1) are mothers. And they kick ass.
