From the manual for my S550... "With the engine switched off, it is possible to continue to heat or ventilate the interior. This feature makes use of the residual heat produced by the engine. If you switch on the residual heat function when outside temperatures are high, only the ventilation will be switched on." This button only works with the key switched off.

Also good for circumstances like when you go shopping, press Rest and come back to a toasty car 😊

hello there do you think that the rest button could drain your battery if it's on overnight? I'm having a drainage issue and I just realized after sitting in the car waiting for somebody with the keys off that this rest button is blowing hot air with no key in the ignition so I'm just wondering if you think that that's a possible culprit. Thanks

As I understand you can't leave it on. It should time out (I think about 15 mins)? But old mercs are renowned for phantom power drains!

Hi. I have an SL55 AMG 2005. I recently changed the rear battery myself on Nov 18. Car fired up fine with no warning lights and drove fine for 30 minutes. It is cold in Ontario Canada and had my passenger play with all the buttons to ensure that things were working fine. Parked it that same day and walked away with battery tenders attached to each battery. Someone parking in the same garage informed me that they heard intermittent fan noise coming from the passenger vent near the front battery. This is 5 days past when the car was parked. Cold engine and key was not in the vicinity of the car. Is it just the REST button or do I have electrical gremlins that the dealership needs to investigate? Thanks in advance.

You have one of my favourite cars of all time (R230). unfortunately mercs from that era are renowned for having very sensitive electrics, esp if they've gotten wet. You'd need to get it checked out. Good luck!

Does it go automatically off?

It does, I think it's about 15 minutes but don't quote me on that...
