Driving across Japan can be a lot of fun. Now that I've bought a new car it's time to go on a road trip from coast to coast in search of adventure and mayhem.
"Ikebana" is a masterful soundtrack by Shin Suzuma.

NOTIFICATION SQUAD: Bears, missiles, abandoned buildings, Donald McDonald, stunning Japanese countryside and an abusive Natsuki on a beach. WHAT MORE could you possibly want from a video?! This video was a technical challenge and a nightmare to produce, but I hope it was worth it! WHICH remote location should we drive to and explore next?! 🍺(P.S. Well done if you make it as far as the abandoned cafe).

I think that this is just how real friendship is in Japan once you find your in-groups. Once you show that you have integrity, people genuinely commit to trusting you. It blew my mind when I lived there. Strangers too even. There's just a sense of community trust there that I'm not sure really exists anywhere else on such a scale. I can't tell you how many times absolute strangers offered assistance to me in ways that I wouldn't never even expect good friends to in the US.

I really loved this video, it was so relaxed and just talking about some of the small interesting aspects of Japan. Would love to see videos of other every day things like, dealing with the post or animal shelters or what have you. Its always interesting to see how other countries and especially one like Japan deals with these things.

The editing is on point in this video, I can for sure appreciate all the pre-thought and storey boarding you must have to do. Your content has surpassed being a "youtube video" and moved towards more of standalone filmmaker, documentary territory while still keeping that youtube-esque brand and humour. I did leave a half baked comment here somewhere about your blend of british humor and japanese slapstick is a blessing no-one asked for. You have a great sense of humour that fits these videos so well, the juxtaposition between the flashy bright wows of japan and the pessimistic greys and lows of british humour. Likewise your and Natsuki's energy is poetry in motion, how he's so carefree and bubbly, while you remain forever a soggy stain. (no offense meant, I'm sure you can appreciate the sentiment) I love where the channel is heading, Ive been following for quite some time now and just wanted to say really appreciate all the hard work you put in and it really really shows! Thank you!!!

I dont know about trashed and graffitied here (probably not in the more rural areas) but the stuff inside would definitely have been taken by scavengers. There are all kinds of abandoned places that end up technically falling into government or some bank's hands because nobody has paid property tax and/or mortgage on them in a bazillion years and scavenging stuff out of them while probably illegal by the letter of the law is not really seen the same morally as stealing from a functional shop or a closed one that is still owned by a person or company (especially if the bank now owns the place lol). The truth is that even if someone came and re opened the place later all the stuff inside would be going to the dump anyway so its better that it gets put to use by someone. Kind of a scumbag move to take abandoned stuff and sell it though.

What's interesting is that on the face of it everyday cars in Japan are generally very run-of-the-mill and unexciting, and yet you go to Daikokufuto on a Saturday and you'd see more variety of cars than you'd ever see in most countries on earth. I feel like Japan's car enthusiasts are known to be so wild and out there because it's like a rebellion against conformity.
