And despite trapping and shooting, their numbers are huge. So many sometimes that those diseases you mentioned, like mange, are because there are too many.

Would think a wild boar would have a hard time catching a fox. Not really good ambush hunters either. But a Lynx will kill a fox just because they often compete for the same prey.
@Stance1988 Жыл бұрын
The lynx is called a bob cat in most other areas of the world so it is included. Even a small young bob cat can kill a fox. I dont know the estimate anymore but ive read a long time ago in a research about predators that normally for a cat to lose a fight it's opponent needs to be 25-30% bigger and stronger, cats are just badass creations xD. Bears are too, even more rugged. It's crazy but theres trailcams of feral house cats who fights off adult raccoons and raccoons avoiding a confrontation even with a small cat, just a nazty animal.

*0:52* "Much like eagles, owls hunt at night." While eagles are adept at hunting in low light conditions, they typically avoid hunting at *night.* There are a few reasons for this; First, eagles have excellent eyesight, but their vision is not as sharp in the dark. For a bird to have good night vision, it must have tubular-shaped eyes and binocular vision. Study the eagles eye size, shape and placement. Their eyes are not optimal for night hunting. Now compare them with the owl's overall eye structure and placement. Also notice the overall differences between how an eagle is built, body and wing construction, and those of owls. *Can you spot all the differences?* Second, eagles and other diurnal soaring birds of prey, are masters of day hunting. Eagles rely on thermal currents to help them stay aloft, and these currents are weaker at night. Owls don't generally soar during the day. They _have_ been known to hunt during the day under certain conditions. They are drop down ambush hunters, typically from a high perch overlooking game trails, water sources etc. Owls exploit their excellent 'night vision' and hearing to locate prey, and are the nocturnal avian masters of night hunting. They have very large eardrums.

Here's 3 honorable mentions: crocodiles, wild boars, and tigers. 🐊 Though they are probably not in the same territory as today. Historically red foxes were once widespread across North America, Europe, and Asia, even in areas were crocodilians such as crocodiles and alligators still roam to this day. Though they're are no crocodiles in Europe and Japan, they did once exist during the stone age. Since crocodiles are ambush predators who hide underwater to catch prey, an unlucky fox was probably eaten by the large reptile when it's about to get a drink. 🐗 Wild Boars may not traditionally be predators however they are extremely aggressive and territorial that they will hunt and kill anything that walks into their territories. Though they mostly eat vegetation, they have been known to eat carcasses along with eating smaller animals. Wild boars have likely killed foxes who accidentally walked into their territories and were unlucky to escape from those razor sharp tusks. 🐅 Tigers are the largest and strongest big cats who rule throughout Asia from the rainforests of India & Southeast Asia to the Northern wilderness of Korea and Siberia. Though this large cats prefer bigger prey, they will hunt after smaller prey if they have to. Foxes are more than likely on the tiger's menu, but most likely as a snack.

Wolves will often tolerate a coyote hanging around on the outskirts but they don't like to. If coyote keeps ignoring a wolf's demand to leave then it is playing with fire. Occasionally the wolf won't be just bluffing and will chase it and kill it in about three seconds time after catching it. Saw it on a video.
@n2eman1922 жыл бұрын
No wolf is catching any Healthy self aware Coyote on ground unless its in the Winter where the wolves have better footing then the Coyote. Reality. Wolves NEVER tolerate a Coyote, EVER! Here in the Alaskan bush Ive seen eagles catch, kill & eat coyotes. They swoop in from behind & grab em by the butt & fly them up incredably high & then drop em. The impact shatters the bones they hit so hard. Then the eagles fly down & eat the yotes. Due to the coyote explosion up here theres very few foxes left. AND the yotes ARE interbreeding with the wolves. The coy/ wolves are bigger, faster, got the hooked serratted teeth & the big feet. They are killing the wolves by outhunting them. Being smaller & lighter they can go through deep snow the wolves cant & they form bigger packs & are just as lethal as the wolves are. A lobo wolf has no chance against a coy/ wolf pack. Kinda funny seeing the wolves getting their asses kicked for a change.
