@@PetitSucreBlau Haven't seen anything vulgar from her. She seems unapologetically blunt at worst, which I guess is not everyone's thing. The only controversial thing here from a French perspective is her not doing the whole kissing on the cheek thing. Being a Frenchman myself, I dislike that tradition so I understand her but I generally feel obliged to do it to not appear rude though. She apparently doesn't, neither does she care. That is the only thing out of the social norms here lmao. I didn't see any sort of arrogance/condescension towards the other girls or any attention-seeking behavior however, so quite curious about what you're talking about.

@@freddycv1174 If it is not about the kiss then what is it? I've watched this video and the other one (the one with the hilarious miscommunication about the weird finger stuff the Spanish girl wanted to do). What exactly points to a lack of empathy? This might actually explain why people think the French are rude or mean because being French myself I have a hard time understanding beyond her not being willing to follow the kissing tradition (which would indeed be seen badly in France) what exactly makes her look bad in the video. She is a bit less enthusiastic than the other girls but that's just the way the French are with strangers. We don't act super friendly with people we don't know and just barely met (which I guess was the case here) because....... we are not friends, duh (or friends yet). Being overly friendly to people you don't know is seen as either weird or fake in France. I know from personal experience that Americans or Spaniards for example are much more open and act much friendlier to complete strangers, so may find the French approach "cold". Cultural differences and all that I guess.

It’s funny because la bise is so deep in French society that it’s a reflex to do it when you see friends or family members, like I will see my male friend that I haven’t seen for a long time but I will still hug him and kiss both his cheeks and the funniest thing is that I have social anxiety and don’t really like to be physically close with people but I will still do it bc it’s in my DNA at this point 😂 even my guitar teacher who isn’t my “friend”, I’ll still greet him with la bise bc it’s a polite hello for us 🤷🏻‍♀️ (also the fact that the number of kisses depend of the region stress me out when I visit people)

In Greece: • The cheek kissing thing is like in Spain. Certainly in family events. • Public toilets are free, but often nasty • Paid leave is not as much as in other European countries, although still better than what I've heard it's like in America. There is decent maternity leave, and public servants (from soldiers to garbage cleaners) can sometimes even take a full year off as paid maternity or paternity leave. In the private sector it's a totally different story, though. We also have about 20 days as public holidays, where most people don't have to work. • Air conditioning is everywhere... Except in schools. Some people also use it as a source of heating in the winter. The 40 degrees the British girl mentioned are an every summer thing here, so...

The kiss on the cheek as a greeting is the most impactful and wonderful thing I remember from visiting Spain and Italy. It shocked me at first, but after the initial surprise it gave such a lovely welcoming feeling and really gave a sense of closeness to everyone I met in my travels! I am not a very shy person normally, but even so I found that I made friends and felt connected to people so quickly compared to the US, and it is something that really stuck with me. I still do it with my close friends at home today actually, though I would never attempt with a stranger because I would get weird looks and probably slapped on occasion haha. I also couldn't imagine living without AC, but that is because it can get close to 50 degrees Celsius in the summer where I live.

But, luckily, we're not doing it anymore, or at least not in my close circle and I'm kinda hoping that we loose this custom with the pandemic lol. Also, I don't know if it's "a thing" that if you actually kiss the other person's cheek instead of "faking" the kiss it means you like that person... if it is... But in the north of Spain the weather isn't that hot, and they don't usually have it. And it's true, electricity is so expensive. About taking time off work in Spain, it depends what job you have and what area you live in. I only got a week of vacation a year and because I pestered the boss about it. If you get ill, you usually get looked at as unreliable if it's more than a day or two, and in some cases even get fired. Again, depends what job you got and the area. Now I live in Germany and I get around 30 days a year off, and if I'm sick I just need an AU (doc's paper stating you're sick and for how long) and that's it.

It's not true that, in Spain, not greeting someone with cheek kisses is rude. The problem is some people are rude and try to impose it on others, so they may feel uncomfortable if you back away. Etiquette says that kissing is only acceptable with family, friends and people who are introduced to you by friends or family in an appropriate manner. Men don't kiss each other unless they're very close, and it is extremely rude for a man to take the lead in kissing a woman; it must be the woman who decides whether to kiss or shake hands. Women usually kiss each other and it's not particularly rude to do so even if the two are not formally acquainted, but it's inappropriate in professional relationships. So, if you're a woman, you come to Spain, a man wants to greet you with kisses and you feel uncomfortable, back away! You're not being rude, they are!

You might think you do it as often as pll in Spain and France do but trust me they are on another level...Had huge culture shock when a family I met for the first time in Spain(they know my family but we met for the first time)all lined up to kiss me on the cheek and hug... XD Its way more shocking in real life how they go right in for it so confidently without even thinking about it lol only 1 person kinda recognized my confusion and asked if its okay. No AC for us either, you can go to the beach, go to the mall (they usually have ac) or just lie on the cold ground wearing the bare minimum (what i usually do). We also have terrible houses that get really cold during winter and really hot during summer. In schools we usually didn't open the windows bcs then the room would be hotter and sometimes bugs and flies would get in and annoy a bunch of melting people. Also, little secret: most people think the only public bathrooms in portugal are paid but the locals know that those are just for turists. There are a lot of free bathrooms if you know where to look.

I still have the whole video to watch, but I just wanted to say something about the "kiss cheek". I find it really interesting how the spanish is really similar to what we do in Brazil. We also just touch cheek to cheek and make the kiss sound with our lips. And it's also true, if someone actually kiss your cheek, it's seen as a way of flerting. Fun Fact: The "amount" of kissing is different depending on the region you go in Brazil. For example, I'm from São Paulo, and here we only do it once. But, if you go to Rio, they do it twice, one with each cheek.

(I'm actually french but I'll use english so that everyone can read my comment) The problem with A/C is its carbone print and how it feeds climate change, the very reason why summers are getting worse. I'd need some people to confirm it but I believe A/C expulses hot air outside the buildings, hence making the streets and overall town even hotter. To normalize it in Europe would be falling into a vicious circle so I hope we can find other solutions like vegetalizing the walls for exemple.

@@nanatruc3484 I'm an engineer and that's not how it works. People don't use Ac because it's expensive. But every factory and company has them at least in the south of Europe.

8:59 I had a professor Mr, Weber. He taught us the toughest module in mechanical engineering "Maschinendynamik". It was a summer semester and on a hot sunny day the classroom was full with about seventy students, he just brought a thermometer, put it on his table, and said: if the temperature rises over 38°C, you can go home. Sadly, It didn´t... Malheureusement!

Oh, in my city in Spain we all have air conditioning at home and schools... but unlike Barcelona here it's more dry the weather, and it feels like literally burning your skin sometimes.

In Singapore. It’s a country with typical tropical climate so it gets super hot over there. So u can find A/C everywhere- train, shopping malls, bus, some schools, bus stations etc Though some places does not have it. Most houses have it too but not everyone uses it frequently.

I’m from Spain and she was right, everyone thinks Spain weather is really hot but that’s only in summer, we have really cold winters and A/C is not really useful for only using it 2 months

You do know that most modern A/C have the heat function as well and can be used as a radiator during cold days too? Like in Japan, they dont have central heating or radiators, so they use the A/C to keep the room warm. In older houses where they dont have A/Cs they use a electric heater that is moved to the room where they are staying at the moment.

Hi. I'm from Valencia, eastern Spain. We in any apartment in which we've lived had a radiator. But my family in Madrid did. Maybe it depends on the region or the family finances... But, here in Valencia, all my relatives have air conditioning, even if it's for the super heat of the summer (1-2 weeks) and for the harshest cold (3 days a year hahaha) in winter we use the air conditioning' heat. ☺️

Relating to schools in Germany and when it's too hot outside: for example, in our school the thermometer kind of thing is in the basement. So basically, if it's like 30 something degrees (and yk everyone's really sweaty etc.), we still have to stay in school, because in the basement of course it's way cooler than in the actual classrooms and we all hate that as students T_T

40 degrees in a summer day in Spain I think its quite normal, almost in my city, but its sooo hummid so we have to turn on the A/C even if the electricity its gonna kill us 🥵

I was a bit shocked about the a/c thing.. wherever I've been in Europe, UK too, I've always found it.. maybe just not in northern Europe but it's really not necessary 😅 But in Italy, especially here in northern Italy, everyone has an a/c in their house, at least a portable one..

Pues mira, por muy caro que este la electricidad, yo no me privo de tenerlo de noche y de día con esta horrible ola de calor que hemos tenido este verano, tal vez puedo economizar en algo más superfluo, pero no en cuanto al AC, simplemente por salud.
