I don’t think being in VR really added anything to Retropolis. It honestly feels like it would play better flat screen, where the light flashing would be far less unpleasant. I like the art style, but it might benefit from a tutorial, or at least a little hand-holding to start with. The kayaking looks so beautiful! With the added benefit of no biting/stinging insects - think I hate mosquitoes marginally more than I love being on the water (rowing is my favourite outdoors activity). BTW, the Bradley W Schenck Retropolis books (no relation to the games) are enormous fun. Proper rollicking pulp adventure. Everything you’d expect in the way of fun from a title like ‘Slaves of the Switchboard of Doom’, but with an unexpectedly high quality. 10/10 recommend.
