Former Oregon Supreme Court justice Sue Leeson explains the events that led to the Declaration of Independence.
Topics include the prior colonial declarations of independence; five parts of the Declaration: purposes, principles, grievances, denunciation of British refusal to respond to grievances, establishment as free and independent states.
