These are NOT Feral Cats, they are outdoor cats. I brought a feral cat in on the Island of Okinawa. I got to pet him 5 1/2 months later! He turned into a Teddy Bear and never asked to go outdoors.

I don't think people know what feral cats actually like. If yours were feral, they'd be like that dude you've caught once & he escaped because he was so terrified for his life & living in captivity. Yours like you, like when you pet them, come back to you. My only concern is that cats wander around and might get hit by a car like it happened to Lil (i hope it never happens again, but if there's a way to protect them, i'd go for it) or by wild animals. But your barn cats are, by no means, feral. People don't know what they're talking about.

There is a theory that cats domesticated themselves by moving onto farms to take advantage of the rodents... and found that humans were friendly enough to give them food when there weren't enough rodents. And a beautiful friendship was born.

The relation between cats and humans is not actually a domestication. We coexist for mutual advantages but of course cats will start to form bonds with people so they stick around. An ethologist once also told me that to cats we are just very big cats.

Wow! I did not know this!! I've been a cat lover most of my 46 years and feel rather dumb at the moment! I HATE putting poison on my kitties to deal with fleas and have looked for ANY other way to deal with them! Believe it or not a good answer is right in your own backyard! Dirt!!! I took a bunch of dirt in and went to work pulverizing it! After beating it with a hammer(quite therapeutic BTW...) I put it through a sifter and developed a fine powdered version, my cats could not wait to roll in it, for over an hour they went to town!!! The next day, no fleas. I'm guessing they covered themselves nicely and the fleas didn't like biting dirt. Who cares what happened other than the critters went away very quickly! I credit that to my late GrayBoy, he taught me this by constantly rolling in one spot so much he wore away the grass and was rolling in dirt, I paid attention enough to put two and two together.

Most of the cats that come in are from the surrounding farm areas. Thank you so much for advocating for controlling barn cat populations! I love cats dearly but I have personally seen how quickly their populations can get out of control.

We have Jiobit trackers for our 3 cats and 1 dog as we live on a small farm. They work great and map out each day's adventure for each animal. My brother, who lives in a suburban environment, also has 4 trackers for his 'formerly feral' cats. So, combined, we have put those trackers to the test. Morgan- you might be able to get a sponsorship from them. Jiobit recently merged with Tile, but they are still approachable. Also, thanks for all of the very hard work that not only goes into farming, but creating and editing videos. Love to Allison, yourself and your fur and feather kiddos!

My parents have a farm, so there's been a few guard dogs and barn cats over the years. Our previous dog was so rambunctious that one of our cats actually left. It was before internet was super common. One of our school friends had noticed a note on the only notice board at our village, and had recognized that it was about our cat. So my mom went to pick him up, and a few days later she got a call from the same woman that our cat was there again. We figured that he had chosen a new home he liked better, and the lady said she'd gladly keep him when we asked. My brother was a bit bummed since the cat was "tecnically" his, but we all agreed that it was better to let him stay where he wanted, as he would just go back there anyway if we tried to take him back again.

I love barn cats! I had 2 neutered males that lived to be old, old men. One lived to 17 the other to 20 yrs old. It did worry me when they would wander in their prime years but we were lucky they always came home safe and happy. They had an insulated, heated house in our detached garage for the winter and a water bowl that wouldn’t freeze. They were fed twice a day and had regular Vet care. We lived in the country on dirt roads surrounded by pasture and corn/soy bean fields, so the rodent population was plentiful. Each cat brought me at least 2 sometimes as many as 4 “offerings” every day. I miss having my early morning coffee on the deck, with the “boys”.

For Pablo barn cat, he bites you for a reason! It’s really interesting why..! Cats get stimulation from being pet & rubbing, and some cats are very prone to it. Once they get stimulated they have to release it so it comes out in ways of “aggression”. He bites you to tell you to stop because he doesn’t want it.. petting him for shorter times, stopping and hold your hand out to see if he wants more. I have had many cats and study animal psychology. Still learning but so fascinating!

I can't wait to have my arsenal of barn cats! And there is a big difference between barn cats and feral cats. Spaying and neutering is such an important thing too. Here in Massachusetts the MSPCA actually has a barn cat placement program!

Watching a video of your Farm right after watching UrbanRescueRanch feels almost surreal. Its so calm..and not full of a screaming and laughing Uncle Ben.

You have a very pleasant unique way of telling us your farm life. I think you will be a very good farm story teller for kids. Did you ever think of making kids books? How you name and talk with and about your animals is amazing.😊👍

Morgan please Stack your hay bales correctly. The best way for your space is two rows of bales on the ground with a third row on top. 1. It will help reduce space in which rodents and small predators can hide and try to Nibble through the wrappings 2. It will make accessing and removing bales much easier when you actually need to remove them, particularly when the weather is snowy or rainy

I did buy a Tshirt! So excited for it's arrival. Morgan, you can't fool us, you're a cat person! 🐈 🥰 You enjoy them, they enjoy you. That's all it takes. Happy to hear all the kitties are doing well now. I believe you've mentioned before Abby is the reason the cats stay a ways off now. Abby will 100% get better with them. She is a whole new dog. I'm impressed with how well she is handling all the chaos around the birds in this video. She didn't even try to go after them, just got excited about the commotion. Totally normal. See you in the next video! This one was very cute :) You have an amazing group of animals there.

I’d be thinking about ways to incorporate Alison’s garden into future videos or merch, because there’s something really catchy about “Alison’s Garden”. Each time I hear you mention it, I’m imagining such abundance. It’s great 👍🏽

@@WalkerRileyMC yup, all the videos lately start off with this sad/intense music followed by a soft spoken speech… this combined with the worried look on his face makes you think somethings gone wrong then boom 6 minutes later everything’s okay it was just click bait… annoying

I call the 'marshmellows' sheep! We used to see fields of them growing up in rural NH, and my dad would point to fields and wrapped hey bales say said "look at the field of sheep!" Which would always make us laugh of course, "haha dad those arent sheep, they're hay bales!" and to this day I call white wrapped hay bales Sheep. Confuses the heck out friends and farmers!
