I think the concept came from Fred brainstorming the solution to how to save time and money on installs. The answer is to install both sides at once and never check the track gauge because it's already been done at the shop! I think they initially thought they could sell parks on the fact that they could save them money by using less concrete (footers) and supports by spanning larger distances. I suppose there may have been a hope that less supports meant less need for large plots of land as the coaster could just live above the existing park. However the track is incredibly massive and while steel may have been the more affordable commodity back in 2013 or '14 I don't think that's necessarily the case any more. Additionally, they did nothing to develop the concept other than building the one 50' piece of track that they did just to see if it would work. Perhaps if they would have reversed the I-box track and built a train with outside guide wheels and replaced their truss lift hill with a T-Rex lift hill on a project like Arie Force One (or even if it was just T-rex track going over the arcade) they may have gotten some traction. But I think it's just too expensive to produce and nobody, including RMC, wants to invest the millions to develop the concept further.

The main reason we haven’t seen a T-Rex is cost and demand. Not many parks have the footprint or budget to put in a coaster of this magnitude. It’s also tough to sell amusement chains on it when you have others out there such as Intamin and B&M who have built them and proved their worthiness and reliability. Making that kind of investment is a huge risk especially if it’s a flop. (Not a ground up Giga but good example is zamperla with TT2)

The only parks I think can get this model are KI KD and carowinds because they have a chain that will pay, and they have enough room. Only issue is cedar fairs relationship with rmc.

You are completely correct

I think they were anticipating selling a lot more raptor clone models as well as no parks seem to want the T-Rex model yet

This is going to sound crazy because of their insane elements and speed and air time, but the actual coasters themselves look like kitty coasters

They built a sample section of larger single rail track, but it wasn't a third the size of the concept renderings. A single rail with a wide enough gauge for a fullsize train would be huge.
