I think and can’t be said enough lying is a no go. That’s a character flaw and generally can’t be changed. So if you meet someone or dating someone and you catch them lying that should be the end. Lying can’t be tolerated.

There are two types of lying. Lying to deceive is moral flaw but lying to protect yourself is morally ok.

I’m a long time subscriber, You both are exceptional!! Excellent content, knowledge and support, But I had to watch this video more than once as you were going so fast from one question/answer to another 😅. I had a consultation with Rob a few months ago and followed up with email, I’m retired, divorced, almost made it there this past November, but had to cancel at last minute because my e-travel form was declined- ?? - I’m still not sure why, I lost money on plane , now trying to come again beginning February, I’m hoping to talk to my again as I’m quite nervous, don’t know anyone there & no family here in USA, I watch all your videos and Pea, and Mike. But still confused on some details!!?!? This is a reconnaissance trip, although. Nothing to come back to in USA, as the divorce two years ago left me in my truck!! The rents here are outrageous !! I want to somehow find out if my prescriptions will be taken over by a doctor there ? I even called a couple of Pharmacies and they didn’t have them?? Although I think I just spoke briefly to the counter girl 🤔. And hope to meet someone, I even just saw a video by someone I never saw before on just renting a girlfriend from a site to help me settle in and show me the basics to live there ?? 🤔🤷🏻♂️

I’ve been to the Philippines several times in my past , and yes camiquin island is beautiful, the island has a nice hot spring and a nice little White Island you can get a boat to visit , CDO was a main hub for me as I’ve been there several times, l came there during Holy Week one time , l was at Butuan city in from the latter part of October of 2013 and got caught in super typhoon Haiyan and didn’t get home right away as l came over for vacation, now I’m considering now to move there permanently as I am retired, I’m in the middle of most guys coming there, I’ve been there several times in the past but this time will be different, so I’m having a “thing” with my strategy but l do know l want to move to IT park as my first destination as a breaking in time , visiting is much different than living , and l guess that is why I’m being very hesitant about it, because once I pull the trigger, I go all the way and I have the income to basically live where l want , l could do it at BGC but I rather do it in Cebu for now , dating isn’t a priority for me, maybe once l do a few things and get established and have a routine in place , l will consider it but not before that.

Thanks Chrissy and Rob. That’s some awesome advice, and appreciate you making these types of videos. I have one question. What do Filipina girls think of heavily tattooed guys? I’m thinking of heading over for a recon holiday at the end of the year. I know a lot of Filipinas are very conservative, but are the younger generation more open to such things. I’m a relatively young (42) Australian and I have both arms, back and a leg completely tattooed. What would be my chances of finding a nice Filipina girl? Love some honest opinions or and first hand experiences from any of your listeners to. Keep up the great videos 👍
@FlyMeToThePhilippines16 күн бұрын
Chrissy said many younger Philippines are watching a lot of western media and are very familiar with the trend in the west regarding tattoos, and while it may slow you down with some conservative girls, many others will understand because of your cultural background

The importance of learning the local language cannot be overestimated, if you decide to live in PH permanently. You can live comfortably with English only. But if you want to dive deeper into the understanding of PH mentality and culture, it is next to impossible to be able to do so without some language knowledge. It starts with the principle of kapwa, the soul of Filipino culture, bayanihan as a way of life for traditional Filipinos, for a start. These words have no direct translation into English. Speaking Tagalog or a local language connects totally differently to Filipinos compared to speaking just English with/to them. I do this now for the past 33 years, so I know what I am talking of. 😊

Lots and lots of wonderful truisms concerning the philippines, cultural anthropology, practical day-to-day helpful ideas and of course how to deal with the Filipina. Now, let's talk about karaoke. I will disagree with you slightly when you said that one out of three Filipinos can sing, well. That is initially very true but, you get a local to start singing and it doesn't matter the quality of their voice..... they assume that they are performing at Hollywood Bowl, being backed up by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

About this divorce Point. In Germany you can only file for divorce if you before register your "international" marriage at the marriage registry office. It`s a big load of paper work or paper war. For the divorce, when your Filipina can`t show up you need to work with the embassy, what makes it more stressful. I know more people watching from the US and Im curious how it`s to handle there?

Rob, On the question of Filipinos being very Family Oriented. I have a different take on it. There is very little in the way of Social Service's here in the Philippines so Children become their only form of a pension plan for thier Parents in their twilight years. Hence there is this narative being implied that Filipinos are somehow more Family Oriented than us in the West. One of the great privileges in the west is that we have a Poltical System where most Retires can live comfortably in retirement without burdening our children. This should not be confused with us being less Family Oriented.
@Ego-Kills16 күн бұрын
Family oriented means feeling obligated to help each other and doing it, staying in touch closely, being loyal to your parents...etc. Is it common to see these in the west? Compare Filipinos in the West to mainstream Western families(mainly white folks). Still Western-Filipinos have better family cohesion than others(mainly white folks). Even Eastern Europeans have better family cohesion than Western families
@1100_Rebels_PH16 күн бұрын
Children taking care of their ageing parents and grandparents has been practised in PH way before the "advancements" of western culture and their invention of home for seniors has been introduced in the west. What is being praised as "comfortably living without burdening their children" turns out in real life to be a stow-away place for seniors, whose children are not willing or able to take care of their parents. They get parked in these homes, where they wait for their sad end, being sorted out and feeling useless. Very often, grandparents here, who live with their children and grandchildren, are still embedded in daily life and help for example taking care of the grandchildren. It is not all and only about using children as a form of social security when old. For me, this is a too materialistic view, which derives from western mentality and cannot be found here that often.

@@1100_Rebels_PH Good to get some comments on this interesting topic and l can only speak from my own experience. My 92 year old Mother chose to move into what l would discribe as middle of the road retirement village. She chose this option because she wanted to keep her independence while still maintaining her connection with Family/Friends. Other benefits she saw we're 24 medical care available, organised daily activities, new friends she has made, and being able to cook for herself or have meals delivered on request. She has a revolving door of Family and Friends visiting daily. Sometimes l think she has a better Social Life than me. LOL. It is also comforting to know that all my Uncles/Aunts experienced the same happiness in their retirement. The point is in having travelled to the Phillipines this is a luxury that most Filipinos don't have hence there is this Sweeping Generalisation made that Filipinos are somehow more Family Oriented.

So, speaking of divorce. What are the legal financial risks eg alimony and or child support?
@FlyMeToThePhilippines6 күн бұрын
Marrying a Filipina as a foreign national involves several legal and financial considerations. Here’s an overview to help you navigate the process: Legal Considerations: 1. Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage: Foreigners must obtain this certificate from their respective embassies or consulates in the Philippines. It confirms that there are no legal impediments to the marriage. 2. Marriage Validity: Ensure that the marriage complies with both Philippine laws and the laws of your home country to avoid complications. This includes adhering to legal requirements and procedures for marriage in the Philippines. 3. Immigration Status: Marriage to a Filipina does not automatically grant residency or immunity from immigration laws. You may need to apply for the appropriate visa to reside in the Philippines legally. Financial Considerations: 1. Property Ownership: Philippine law restricts land ownership to Filipino citizens. As a foreigner, you cannot own land but can own up to 40% of a condominium unit. It’s common for property to be registered in the Filipino spouse’s name, which could pose risks in case of marital disputes. 2. Community Property Law: The Philippines follows the system of “absolute community of property,” meaning all assets acquired before and during the marriage are considered jointly owned, unless a prenuptial agreement states otherwise. This has significant implications for asset division in the event of separation or annulment. 3. Family Obligations: In Filipino culture, there is often a strong sense of duty to support extended family members. As a foreign spouse, you might encounter expectations to contribute financially to your spouse’s family, which could impact your financial planning. Recommendations: • Prenuptial Agreement: Consider drafting a prenuptial agreement to clearly define asset ownership and financial responsibilities, protecting both parties’ interests. • Legal Counsel: Consult with a lawyer experienced in both Philippine and international family law to fully understand the legal and financial implications of your marriage. • Open Communication: Discuss financial expectations and cultural differences with your prospective spouse to ensure mutual understanding and agreement. By addressing these considerations proactively, you can better navigate the complexities associated with marrying a Filipina and establish a solid foundation for your future together.

Hi Rob & Chrissy, Assuming I like the woman I’m beginning to date, how big of a deal is it, “NOT” to want to meet her parents, until we’ve dated for at least 3 months. I “do” want to be in a serious/long-term relationship, but I think meeting her parents within a few days after beginning dating, is way too soon. I think, meeting her siblings would be a better option, and let “them” tell their parents, I’m worthy of dating their daughter. What are your thoughts? Would she be offended, if I didn’t want to meet her parents, until “she & I”, felt we’re “right” for each other?

First time I was hit with tampo. Back in early 70's I dated a lady off and on for a couple years and decided to get married while on vacation. things were going well until the day before getting married she went silent. Time for the wedding came and went so when she got up and went to shower. I packed my bag and left thinking she was mentally ill. Another time another filipina went silent I left for a week she had freaked out upon my return and never tried that again because she knows I will leave but we broke up for other reasons. Tampo freaks us out so I just freak them out. It may work for some men. Grab the bull by the horns. Filipinas look so sweet and innocent with a nice smile but believe me most are not. So have fun and take your turn. Just as nice as you can about it. consider a vasectomy you can always get a reversal as I have met guys that travel. Pero bahala na

Additionally also encourage your wife to drive also. Atheist here: I was up front on my profile about being an atheist. I had plenty of attention AND I ended up with a Filipina that is a heavy Catholic, but understanding of me not being religious.

Wow. I would not have expected that. Many times I have explained to women that I am an atheist, but I am tolerant of others' religiosity and won't cause any problems - will even sit with them in church on Christmas, baptisms, etc. The only thing I ask is that they not try to convert me because it is impossible and will only end up with them hating me. They always back away as Christians cannot tolerate non-believers. Are you sure that your Filipina does't have the ultimate plan of trying to convert you? You know how women set about on day one of the marriage to "change" the man into exactly what they want.

@@williamb1880 I agree... No offense to anyone, but Christianity tends to be a socially reinforced belief system and non-believers add friction just by existing in that circle. I feel like you either sort religion out on the front end, or you sort it out on the back end. If you don't address it in your profile then you get more volume and it feels good to get that additional attention. However, you're set up for a higher fail rate later on. That means you've already invested time, money, and feelings when things fall apart. I hate to say it, but I'm a dating "professional" and know that it's way better for me to just suffer through that lower volume in the beginning. As it turns out, I didn't even have to suffer through that lower volume in the Philippines dating market. I'm 49 and wasn't after a large age gap so that is probably a factor to consider. It's difficult to answer your questions about the future. My Filipina is 35, has relationship experience, and has been very trustworthy so far. She's very clear about the things that she wants out of a relationship. I don't see her as being the type to try to change me. But we're in the early days of the LDR phase right now. So time will tell!
