As a raptors fan he went pretty crazy during the playoffs against us in 2019. Hitting so many fading catch and shoot shots it was absurd. Most catch and shoot players are good at hopping into their shot, not many are good at catching and going 1-2 directly into the shot. JJ was a master at it

U tried using ur off arm to swipe it? I play against that type of defense in pickup too and that always works for me and the guys who cant get past it dont use they off hand

As someone who uses this technique as a defender the best advice I can give you is to work on an explosive blow-by move or defensive dribble combo that can maybe open up space for a midrange shot. I use it when someone tries to dribble to the paint, so I body them up to either disrupt their dribble or if they are going for a layup it throws them off balance before the shot attempt. Hope that put it in perspective a bit better. Getcha reps in!

Anyone who claims jj redick is unskilled just flat out doesnt know basketball 😂 Being able to consistently make 3s and midrange jumpers off the catch, coming out of a full sprint, curling, going in either direction at the NBA level while being an undersized guard with no length is an elite skill that pretty much only a handful of players have even in today's league

In ‘18 the sixers often played JJ and Belinelli (very similar skillset) at the 2 and 3… what a nightmare for the defense. I remember both of them catching fire in the first round that year and they were unstoppable

You missed the biggest thing... His legs start the shot before he even has the ball. On an ideal catch and shoot, he's at the bottom of his shot as the ball hits his shooting pocket. I felt like he was over rated. I can't remember him being clutch. He's a good shooter but there's other guys that are better worth watching for court awareness. I think shooters like KCP are better to have on a team because they are not one dimensional. I put JJ in a class with good shooters like Quin Cook. I think the main difference is that frat connections got JJ better PR reps and he possibly had better agents. Now that he is a tv personality, I think his overated smugness even gets in the way of the good points he makes about the game haha. Like the comment he made that offended Jerry West had some validity to it, but it could have been delivered in a better way without offending players from a prior generation

He lost his dribble, stopped passing and even though he ran around screens well, his footwork got slower after he became established in the NBA.
