I loved Wyoming.I was there back in 1980.We drove there passing through South Dakota onto Jackson Hole Wyoming.Camped in the Big Horn Mountains,Yellowstone Park,and the Grand Teton mountains.

We drove through southeast Wyoming from Grand Teton to Colorado and I was blown away by the landscape. I expected that part of the state to be pretty dull but the vast sagebrush prairies over the rolling hills was gorgeous, and I was shocked that even in that “flat” area, there was always a mountain, butte or something with elevation within eyesight. That was supposed to be the “boring” part of the state, but combined with Yellowstone, Teton, the Bighorn area (canyon and mountains) and marrying up to the Black Hills in the northeast, I can’t imagine a more beautiful all around state in the union! (This coming from a Great Lakes midwesterner)

Being a "Wyomingite" (transplanted to Minnesota), I really appreciate this piece. I've lived in or backpacked in almost every place you mention. I have to correct you on one point... Sagebrush DO NOT become tumbleweeds. Sagebrush are a very long-lived plant with a woody stem. The most frequent plants called "tumbleweeds" in Wyoming are in the Amaranthaceae family, particularly the kali species. Kali tragus (Russian Thistle) is probably the most common. I am a proud Wyomingite. I like your video, as it is quite informative and accurate, except one thing. Wyoming did not "give" women the right to vote, women in Wyoming EARNED the right to vote. The Wyoming territory was set to decline statehood, if it could not bring the women along with suffrage. While you are going through our state and are awestruck by the dusty tumble weed infested landscape, imagine that you are one of the first Wyomingites and try to tell me that those wonderful women did not earn suffrage. The only thing I would change, would be that the Native women and men did not gain their suffrage, as they more than earned it, as well.

They were GIVEN the right to vote because at the time it was 8 men to 1 woman and this was a way to build the population. You can look that fact up. I have forgot more about Wyoming than you will ever remember. Born raised lived dead.

I'm a rare breed...I'm a native Wyomingite. Sagebrush is sagebrush and tumbleweeds are a totally different plant. Sagebrush does not dry up and blow away. Tumbleweeds start out green, grow into bushes, then dry turn brown and blow away,

Yup, 2 plants in Wy grow into tumbleweeds (kochia and Russian thistle) both are considered invasive. Neither does very well where the sagebrush is happy and healthy.

Trivia factoid about the Wyoming State flag: It was originally designed with the buffalo facing the other way (away from the flagpole). Someone pointed out that cattle stand with their tails to the wind but buffalo stand with their heads to the wind. So, the design was reversed and now the Wyoming buffalo always faces into the wind.

The sage brush has a sweet smell, and walking through it in the spring, you might find nests with beautiful blue eggs, and some of the most beautiful wildflowers you’ll ever see! I lived there most of my life, raising my family there, and driving in the oilfields for 27 years…💙

You also see rattle snakes and mice in sagebrush. While it smells wonderful, many find they are allergic to it.

Wyoming wind gauge consists of a flagpole with a 6 ft. length of chain attached to it. If the chain is standing straight out on the flagpole, then it's windy! Casper residents can relate to this.

As some one born and raised here i promise you the rate of gun ownership is higher than what Google states, the other thing is alot of people carry in wyoming because relatively speaking our police departments are small and the police tend to be far away. Even if the cops have the best of intentions and work as fast as they safely can you call 911 in wyoming and there's a decent chance it will be 5-10 minutes for a cop to get there, the people of wyoming realize that and know that for some situations that is not fast enough.

Also, we have the First National Forest in the United States. Shoshone National Forest, established in 1891. First federally protected National Forest. So, we here in Wyoming have the 1st National Park in the world established in 1872, the first National Monument established in 1906, and of course like I said Shoshone National Forest established in 1891. What's the difference between a national park and National Forest? IDK 100%, I just know that the rules in National Forest are not as strict as they are in National Parks. For example, National Parks don't allow you to bring your pet, like a dog or cat or whatever you may have out on the hiking trails and lakes to explore within the Parks. Whereas, National Forest pets are allowed on trails, as long as they are under control and on a leash.

You think that it is flat as you said till you get out in it. If you search enough and have the vehicle to do it, you will find some amazing things and views. One you didn't mention is Pilot Butte, you can see it from all four sides while heading toward Rock Springs and Green River area. Pilots would use this land mark to find their way to Rock Springs and Green River in the day.. literally it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Antelope can't jump? WRONG! I spent years working for WYDOT, traveling throughout Wyoming. I have seen antelope jumping over barbed wire fences several times. However, based on my observations, antelope seem to prefer going under or though barbed wire fences. By through I mean between the strands of wire. I suspect that most folks here in Wyoming think antelope can't jump fences because they have never seen an antelope jump a fence. All they have ever seen is antelope going under or through fences.

WE love our outdoors here. State parks are here! Some incredible places. Very friendly! Wind is crazy here in fall- spring which keeps our population the way we love it. Trade National Park for our amazing state parks. Less federal gov encroachments the better! 😉.

I've been traveling the USA for the last 5 years, and spent 3 months in WY recently . Best place I've ever been. Friendly people, courteous drivers, no income tax, 4% sales tax. I'd move there in a heartbeat. Might have to tie up my wife and put her in the trunk to do so.

Tumbleweed does not come from sagebrush! No-one knows where it comes from it just appears! I saw workers along the highway using pitchforks to throw sagebrush over the fence. I have been everywhere you mentioned expect the Stampede. The view of the Tetons from your state is pretty cool. I have been on most every road due to traveling from Colorado to Montana just about every year since 1980. Most of the time it was I25 because of limited vacation time. Always as interesting drive especially in the winter. Shear joy when the road closed barrier is still in the air as you go by!

I live in Wyoming, and rodeo season is over for the year. Will start up again next Memorial Day. If you travel west on I-80, once you pass Laramie, things get boring. Traveling north on I-25 is a bit better. But yeah the middle of the state is rather boring. Cheyenne, where I live is trying to grow, but its there are people who do not want it too. Plus, water is an issue. When the wind drops to 5 to 10 miles an hour, thats a calm day. But you get used to it. P.S. Cheyenne is also the home of the only fully restored and running Big Boy steam engine. The reason women where given the right to vote in Wyoming, is because of the lack of population at the time.

I like Wyoming except for when I was there in 2009 . I left Comifornia in May it was 96° out . We went to N.C. on the motorcycles . On the way back by myself I was going to go through yellowstones . It was snowing , thunder storming and just plain terrible . I came close to freezing . I ended up in a hotel in Butte Momtana sicker than a dog for 3 days . When I headed out my heavy leather jacket still hand'nt dried out .

Wyoming is not flat, yes we have wind, more in Casper, we have the amazing big horn mountains. Cody, Cheyenne, Sheridan, and many more is great. People are moving here more then you know they are coming to Buffalo and Sheridan Wyoming. Yes people do wear guns, even to their wedding. Big Rodeos are Cheyenne frontier Days and Sheridan Wyo Rodeo, and Cody the stampede rodeo over the Fourth of July.

@@ddphotoadventure2657 there is Sheridan side going up through Dayton Wyoming to Shell Wyoming HWY 14 or 14A goes to Lovell, Wyoming or Buffalo Wyoming to Ten Sleep Wyoming is HWY 16. They are great. Plus just spending time on the Big Horn Mountains camping and driving on the back roads. Good place to video there.

The "bucking bronc" is named "Steamboat" . Pronghorn are related to Giraffes. Wyoming is paradise. Wyoming is at maximum capacity, we're full. Cheyenne is actually a destination. You're description of Frontier Days is very comical. Women were allowed to vote because the ratio of men to women was 8 man to 1 woman at the time. It was a tool to build the population of the state. Why do you think the Mormans in Utah were 2nd? More wives. Jackson Hole isn't considered Wyoming by the rest of the state. State prison was in Laramie at the time. Still there for tours. Kaycee Wyoming is where Hole in the Wall happened...rip: Chris Ledoux ! The ruts of the Oregon Trail is worth the visit. Not a bad video. You dropped the ball on Fort Laramie my guys! Safe travels.

Butch was imprisoned in Wyoming Territorial State Prison in Laramie, WY. Great place to visit, both Laramie and the prison. The only place to actually incarcerate him.

Not all information in this is correct, as the Rand McNally road Atlas shows that Wyoming is the NINTH largest state with Oregon being tenth.

Living in Wyoming…. The weed Kochia is the biggest enemy of the Wyoming farmer…They can take over fields and when the are dry they are the tumbleweeds….They can be as big as a truck tire…, I’ve seen them rolling across our fields….

I'm from Idaho but I have worked all over Wyoming and yeah it's a great place to visit in the summer I spent one winter in big piney the high for a month was 50 below zero I've seen antelopes running 60 mph that well under 60 below zero you see those words along the rug and big wooden fence things well they're not bleachers for the antelope races at Union there's snow fence i-80 is the most closed down highway in America in the winter time because of the wind is so hard the reason Wyoming was the first state for women's vote is because the women came out here with their husbands flat Indians built branches and the men died young and the women weren't about to lose their ranch by not having their vote they can shoot as good as a man could so they got the right to vote I've heard it said the state bird is a magpie and I've heard it said that this highway department in charge of cleanup is magpie the state animal it's got to be the jackalope oil is huge in Wyoming and so is coal mining it is terribly sad that Jackson hole area and Star valley got a terrible East infection I hope they get over it when the billionaires bought up Jackson hole all the millionaires moved over into Teton valley and Idaho State prison in Rawlins Wyoming where's the one where Butch Cassidy was in prison when he was pardoned and he told the Warden Gilly as hell free is a bird Sundance kid with some Sundance Wyomingin the US government needs to get the hell out of Wyoming and leave it to the people in Wyoming because they know how to manage that better than anybody else it's a ton of Cody his named after Buffalo Bill Cody and it's got one of the best gun museums in the world I truly love Wyoming I wouldn't live there but cowboy hat on much less getting ran over by an entire heard of jackalopes

Small business owners are nice to visitors because their businesses depend on tourist dollars. Don't think for a minute they are happy to see you, to them you are a wallet on legs. Statistically, Wyoming is a great place to live but the lack of jobs, poor to non-existent healthcare and the most miserable weather ever you would be smart to think twice before moving here.
