I think it was the change in the times. Cartoons are starting to become more simplified for a much younger audience. That and reality TV just isn't as popular as it use to be.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind Total dramarama too much if they kept the OG show running on adult swim. Then they wouldn’t have to censor it and could have more mature content. I do believe The OG TD failed for two reasons. 1. The terrible writing in the later seasons, and 2. It has less of an appeal to younger audiences. If you had A well written un-censored TD season on adult swim, it might attract more people

The primary reason Jude is in this show is because he's Christian Potenza's favorite character to voice and Potenza insisted that Jude be a part of the Total Drama franchise.
