The problem with the Dark Eldar (sort extends to Eldar more broadly as well) is that GW blatantly does not care for them. I mean, the entire range struggles to crack the 20 mark, and almost a third of that isn't purchasable. DE have falling into the GW doom cycle. They see a drop in sales, so GW ignores them. Because GW ignores them, they don't get any much needed refreshes or new models. Because they're not getting anything new, their sales drop - and the cycle repeats. There's an absolute ton you can do with DE. I'd love to see an expansion to both the wych cults and the homunculi covens, but that's not likely to happen anytime soon because DE aren't currently "maximizing shareholder value". Squander faction potential is a running theme GW that's unfortunately not limited to Dark Eldar, or even just 40k for that matter.

Deathwatch have no reason to exist as a standalone faction. They were gutted so hard at the beginning of 10th that they may as well not exist with how few players there are, and they could honestly just run a different detatchment and likely have more success. It would be better to just bake them into basic space marines and give them upgrade sprues at this point.

Agreed! I think they should honestly get roped into Agents of the Imperium. I think that approach actually makes them more interesting. That or they are a unique detachment within Space Marines. It's a shame because I do think a couple of their models are cool. I just can't see myself playing them

Removing Drukhari is a pretty garbage take. I feel like youre forgetting that 40k at it's core is fantasy races in a sci-fi setting. Dark Elves are a fantasy essential. I know contemporary 40k lore has gotten away from this aspect of the setting but this concept is still important. Removing Drukhari just gets it closer to the main complaint with recent lore which is that its basically only about space marines

I think adding more, like the Votan is unnecessary but to remove a faction is just, but removing would actually hurt the game, as that would mean go into lore and take stuff away that is there for a long time

simple fix for daemons, fold the gods into their respective csm factions, tzeentch into thousand sons, khorne into world eaters, nurgle into deathguard, and slaanesh and emperors children together at the end of 10th

I do disagree with the first two. For mostly the same reason. Firstly i find its just seemingly a problem of they arent space marines so gw doesn't care about them. Both those lines could and frankly should be amazing. But they just arent expanded on. A secondary point for demons specifically is that if you do want to go one of the chaos space marine factions that are more renegade and less demonic. It would make less sense to have demons side by side. I know thats not a huge issue but still. I do find myself agreeing mostly with the custodes thing. While i think the point of gw doesnt care about them still stands To me they are just too elite to be on the battlefield in amy significant number. And considering some of their stories. Even ten is significant. I like the idea of making them agents again thats good. As for my pick tho i would say both of the knight factions. While they are super cool to me i also feel like they should be allies to the imperium. Or even in like the admech roster. And vice versa for chaos of course. Theyre fun, their lore is fun, but theyre too radically different in a way that doesnt feel great. If you dont prep for them youll get stomped on. And if you do prep for them they could get stomped on. Just bad times all around. Sorry if this came off as negative. Enjoyed the video and would like to hear how factions could improve!

I hated when the Necrons got fleshed out and developed personalities. I liked the eldritch horror vibe of them being completely unlnown and horrific.

I kinda like it to some degree for some select units. Flayed ones and destroyer cults going mad because of the loss of soul and body to the point they either yearn for skin again or destroy every molecule in reaction to it feels like it has that cosmic horror vibe

You all missed the mark. Deathwatch should be gone, they are part of the inquisition and should be a part of the agents of the empire faction. Same with sisters and grey knight. Maybe you could have a wholesome faction for once instead of just bits and pieces of one. Several of the factions should be merged with others, like daemons and CSM.

lol this is just human-imperium centric fanboy rheteric.. we need LESS humans and more xeno-centric armies and story lines. How about consolidating all the space marines (divergent or not) into one codex (Codex Space Marines) How about consolidating the grey knights, sisters, inquisition, etc into one codex (Codex eclisiarchy) Its so strange how entire cultures like the necrons, eldar, tau etc which have WIDELY different lore, fighting styles, politics, characters, factions, ways of war are all in one codex, where as the smallest little tiddly fart from the empirium gets its own codex..

I wholeheartedly agree. If you want a Space Marines vs Space Marines game, play the Space Marines vs Space Marines game as it already exists. At no point in time was 40K a Space Marine only game, so why be nostalgic for 30k when you can still play it?

Do we really NEED them or do we can use more of them? Because let's face it, xenos factions are in minority because most people just don't care about them. You can shower players with alien content and still very small amount of people will enjoy it when compared to spacemarines fans. I personally don't like spacemarines but i admit that they are cool. Therefore most players love them, therefore they get more content. But eldar? necrons? tau? these are VERY niche factions, just like sisters or admech on imperium side. That won't change.

@@annormal1414 yes, and no. Space Marines make up 19% of the tournament environment, but that includes all of the divergent factions as well. With that in mind CSM has 15% of the tournament environment with DG, Ksons, and WE. Imperial factions make up about 24%. Aeldari/Drukhari have 7%, and the other Xenos factions make up 27%. Then Chaos Knights/Daemons finish with up about 7%. So, if you look at the actual breakdown, Space Marines as an overarching faction isn’t really the best way to look at it. In fact, one would expect to find only 1/3 players for Imperial, Chaos, or Xenos. Statistically that makes Imperials barely the most popular faction by a hair, and Space Marines breakdown (removing divergent chapters) puts them at 73 players this week which is 4 above Necrons, and 10 above Custodes.

@@stevenburton7725 i would argue that tournaments show nothing. People who play there don't represent right percentage of people who are playing say faction. And when you throw in meta chasers statistics become useless. Through most of 9th guard was garbage and tyranids were strong, a lot of tyranid lists in tournaments and very few guard. Doesn't change the fact that there are several times more guard players then tyranid players out there. etc.
