“It’s more important to understand what works than just a simple easy answer to the question” very, very true man. Your channel helped me understand not just the B58, but automotives in general. I went from not knowing how to change the oil on my own car, to helping other people installing their hpfps, reading their logs and diagnosing misfires, and being able to thoroughly explain why something works / doesn’t work a certain way and the effects that it has downstream. And that’s the reason I watch all your videos, I really appreciate the free content you put out there, thanks again and keep it up!

I'm working on heavy-duty equipment. When you see the parts and what is on this equipment, the first thing that comes to your mind is that this equipment will never fail. But it does fail... so nothing is 100%. Anything manufactured by humans has a chance of failure. Thank you for your great content. I appreciate the way you think and how you handle this platform

Never seen a Gen 1 B58 turbo fail on our end. What we did see is a handful of people install an oring on the inlet, get sucked through the turbo which we warn people not to do, a few shop rags & a few people who ran Ots maps when they were specifically warned not to.. Never seen 1 out over 1000

Good video man. It doesn't matter necessarily how it breaks but how its fixed is more important. Knowing that shawn stands behind his products I already knew it was getting the investigation it needed and fix. Good point on people spending their last bit of money on stuff etc. And the heads up on awareness of your own car mechanically. That same thing applies to life in general. I had my spool fx180 leak since 2 weeks ago. Out of nowhere after 3 years ago when i installed it. Hopefully its a matter of the 1.5x40mm o ring i ordered. Some so small can actually be a real danger/fire hazard. Looking strong man. I reckon if you would cut a bit of weight and do some more training you'd be hella buffed. Keep the vids coming man. ✌🏻

@@carlsagan3065 as I said un the video, failures happen. Even stock turbo can fail. It's not likely but you need to do your due diligence to stay on top of maintenance and monitor things in case there is an issue.

Great vid Kern, thanks for sharing all your insights in the humble down to earth way that you do here. Noob question incoming: I own an M140i in the UK and want to become a bit more savvy with the B58 as you suggest in this vid, but don’t have a clue where to start (other than binge watching your vids). Would you recommend a certain toolset that would equip me for this kind of tinkering? Thanks again.

Nice video. The problem actually is that people don't even make the effort to search and dig about their problem and solution. They just post random question and stuff on facebook and they wait to be served like a king by others people. They don't even try to search and understand how stuff work. That happen even more and more with all that facebook group cause they just have to type their question and wait to be helped. It's only on tuning car or automotive stuff, that's happening for everything. People are getting more and more lazy. Hate that.

I’m also having problems as well. I had my DAW UF rebuilt and installed last week. I’m making 27.5 psi at 100% WGDC the whole pull. I already pressure tested and smoke test and didn’t find any boost leaked. The wastegate is fine and calibrated. I have a feeling that my turbo is no good.

mine was repaired but it was around the time they launched so they were out of stock (everything on hand was called for). it may depend on their inventory situation if they'd replace or repair an issue

Just go Top Mount with a proprietary Turbo Manufacturer like Garrett, Precision (maybe), or Borg Warner like you did with your 440i. Sure there may be people out there that have apparently never had issues with “hybrid” or upgraded stock location turbos but there also has been plenty of people that have. You’re whole video on why you went the Top Mount turbo route on the 440i goes into that so I just don’t understand why people keep trying over and over again and expecting another result.

@@Jam24711 Like there's plenty of people having trouble with top mount too. You comment is stupid. And there's more people on hybrid than top mount all around the world without any trouble like me for example. I'm on pure 800 for more than 2 years without any heard beat.
