So early morning with apple cider vinegar with lemon , then after 2 hours vegetable shake and then after two hours boiled eggs or anytype of healthy fats. And thats it rest of the 20 hours I don't eat . And once every week I do 72 hour fast instead or 20 hour IF. I was dropping 1/2 pound per day with just walking 3 miles in park everyday .

Good one! 100% correct for many reasons, especially autophagy. But in the sense of HGH production, this only applies to men who produce HGH in 4 pulsations during sleep, starting between 10pm and 11pm. Women produce HGH diurnally-as long as there is sunlight. Blue light at night will mess things up in this regard.

Hour 36 as I type this. Going for 48-60. I do what I call a "turbo fast" by starting with an epsom salt laxative (2 Tbs. dissolved in to 3-4 cups of water drank all at once)... I believe it helps get to the fat burning and autophagy stages quicker by rapidly removing all or most of the food from the digestive system. In other words, I can feel the fast ramping-up 4-6 hours after the laxative; otherwise, without the laxative it would take 24 hours. I do consume plenty of water and some pink salt during fasting.

This makes me think about military training. You know, their basic 'Longest Days' or Navy SEAL's 'Hell's Week' or training parts like that. Intense physical demands, and food so reduced that they are effectively fasting whilst going through these training sessions. It may sound downright cruel to us civies, and just about every civie I have told about these training routines starts looking pale just by listening to it. But I am actually planning on joining, so I've looked into what training methods are the best for gains, both physically and mentally. I've been eating arguably 3/5th maybe even half of what I used to eat because of unemployment atm and moving into my own place with flatmates, so I had to carefully watch what I'm buying. This has restricted my 'comfort foods', I've not had takeaways for months, my diet currently exists of just whole grain oats, milk, eggs and beans, toast and spinach, sardines and bananas and berries. Most of the times I eat these raw (smoothies), I only fry the beans and occasionally the eggs. I've managed to smash out just as much, if not more, in my fitness routines than I have before. Working out on an empty stomach is not harder, I've found it easier! My body fat % has visibly gone down (can see more abs, just to name one thing), yet I'm able to smash out more each workout. It's as if my mind feels more relaxed on an empty stomach, and as if my body agrees and enjoys using the stored calories (aka fats) during the workouts. And afterwards I don't even need a massive meal anymore, I just feel fuller with less (keep in mind, it's quality food rather than just quantity food). That said, I do believe that the military training routines are actually quite healthy. The physical exercises produces more endorphins, the cardiovascular system (lungs and heart) get fitter and stronger, and, as this video shows, the body undergoing a kind of fasting proves more beneficial rather than not. Thanks again for a brief yet most interesting video, sir! I will recommend you to my future mates in the military, or who want to sign up but need to work on their diets.

@SeanyyBoy_4 жыл бұрын
About the .6-.8 protein per pound rule... Let's say it equals to 50g per meal... I remember your video breaking down the absorption rate and percentage of protein absorption in certain foods like eggs, poultry, whey etc.. if whey was 50%, then do I need to consume 100g of protein to hit my 50g target since I won't absorb the full amount? TLDR.. do I need to factor in percentages of protein absorption and increase intake to properly hit my target? Another random question. Are insulin spikes due to carbohydrates (IE sugar) and spikes due to protein different? In regards to preventing diabetes, surely a spike due to carbohydrates will be far worse than a spike due to protein... Top work Dr Berg 👍

Hi by this calculations I need 130g protein a day. That's like 3 chicken breasts and a good steak a day. How can you do keto with so much protein? I think Dr. Berg is off here
@TryGold4 жыл бұрын
Happens to us all. Perhaps he'll be able to add a little superimposed text edit for that. It's more like .6 to .8 grams per kg. per day.
@Edward-yf3hp4 жыл бұрын
Dr Berg said that was 130g protein per meal, not per day, so if are you are doing OMAD (one meal per day) to maximize your fast to the longest amount of time per day (eg 23 hours) then it would be 130g protien for that one meal in that single day, Dr Berg highly promotes OMAD
@user-od7fv9up6t4 жыл бұрын
I think he is reffering to the weight of the food itself, not the amount of protein within the food. Most of the people don´t know the difference, so may be thats why.
@Edward-yf3hp4 жыл бұрын
130g protein per day is easy to do, eg a single 12oz protein shake w/ mix-ins is 50g protein, 4 hardboiled eggs is 24g protein, 1 slice of bacon strip weighing 8.9 grams is 2.9g protein x 5 strips = 15g, 1 (5oz) chicken breast is 35g protein, 1oz roasted pumpkin seeds = 8.5g protein, that is 133g total protein not including any vegetable sides... keep it simple :))
@cmc22344 жыл бұрын
Dr Berg is basically telling people to do two things together that you can really only do individually. I don't know if he's purposely deceiving people so he can tell those who WILL LOSE muscle mass doing all the fasting he recommends that he also told them to eat massive amounts of protein at every meal. The amount of protein he mentions here is for those trying to build muscle. He's been telling people to eat such minuscule amounts of protein for so long that he has gone way too far the other way while trying to sneak in a BIG change to his Keto diet! You can "PRESERVE and RETAIN muscle mass" by fasting for a limited time if it produces HGH while consuming moderate amounts of protein after your fast... you DEFINITELY DON't need that much protein to PRESERVE and RETAIN.
@Julie-cb4cq2 жыл бұрын
Correction? At 3:40 he says .6-.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight- might he mean KILOGRAM? That’s what every other source seems to say. If so, per pound should be .36 grams of protein.

Dr. Berg... I'm 100 kg, which means I'm about 220 Pounds of total wt. Now, that means that 220*.7=175gms of protein per meal? Isn't that too high? Means even in 2 meals a day, it'll consume 350 gms of protein, I will be constipated! ... PLz explain if I'm calculating wrong...! :D Thanks! love your videos...

@Dr. Eric Berg would you recommend fasting the next day after a heavy workout? Like if i get out of the gym at 7, eat a good protein / fat based meal and then fast the following day. Would I recover better if fasting boosts my growth hormone? Or maybe fast one day a week for 24 hours?

@simonshotter89604 ай бұрын
0.8 grams of protein per meal per lb is insane. I’m 220lbs, so I would need 176 grams of protein per meal. That would be 13 eggs or 700g of chicken. Those are the types of figures a body builder shoots for over a day, not per meal.

This is not the same recommendation you gave in your other video on how much protein a person should consume. In that video you said multiply your body weight by .36 - .7 and that’s what a person should consume in a Day. Now I am confused.

Likely the difference between typical diet eaten 3 x/day (that's 0.6-0.8g/kg/day = ~0.3-0.4g/lb/ day) vs this video which is about keto...they eat a lot more protein. And remember, this video's numbers are in pound, kg=2.2 lbs, and they are per meal, not per day.
@antoniadispalato29004 жыл бұрын
@@iloveamerica1966 It cannot be that with 209 lbs you have to eat (x .6) 125g protein PER MEAL! Dr Berg made a mistake. That s not possible.

I am not sure if I got it right. I weigh 165 pounds (I am tall and lean) and pratice high intensity exercises daily. So I should eat 165 * .8 = 132g of protein per meal? Assuming I eat 2 meals a day, which is less than most, it would mean 264g of protein and roughly 950kcal only of protein. Assuming I would eat 3 meals it would be about 1400 kcal of protein daily. Is that correct?

Something off about protein intake here. If I do .6 -.8 grams of protein per lb. of body weight that has me consuming 111-148 grams per meal. This could be a recommendation per day but to me that still seems pretty high unless you are a very active individual or serious athlete.
