Never thought about 250g spools. You've just saved me 75% cost to get started!!

Most of my time has been spent looking at filament types (PLA, PETG, ASA) based on their use case, then start looking at colours, and then I started looking at finish such as matte, silk, glossy, and now with HueForge we need to look at TD, which almost no one is providing. :)
@NeoKoiPrintsАй бұрын
Its really hard to provide TD honestly. Polymaker made that mistake of putting it on the spool but like i said in the video, variation is really common due to how filament is made by big companies. Ive seen variation of 4-6 td, same color, same company, just different batches

Its manufactured using a different process than your $20 pla, in much smaller batches for a specialized product. Its not cheap but you wont find the same product elsewhere

Have some PolyTerra I was using and really liked the matte finish and when I checked the Polymaker store, it appears they've rebranded a lot of their filaments under Polychroma now. example: Panchroma™ Matte PLA (Formerly PolyTerra™ PLA) And, of course, upped the price.
@NeoKoiPrintsАй бұрын
A lot of polymaker is actually cheaper since the rebrand. The Matte PLA is the same though.

New on my 3D printer and using Bambu P1s and X1C with AMS. Struggled with a bad spool from IKSYTEM and several 250 gram spools, they wont work in my AMS. First time I heard of a respooler - is this how I run 250 gram spoolos. Put them on an AMS compatible spool? As I said just coming up to speed on the 3D printing Bambu world.
@NeoKoiPrints21 күн бұрын
A respooler is a device that lets you respool filament onto compatible spools. So you can respool 250g onto a 1kg sized spool. Just make sure that if you use one, that you respool twice. When you just move it from one spool to the next, the spool has a lot of stresses from how it was originally wound then dried. It can explode on you. To prevent that, you wind it a 2nd time so its back to its original form. I know there are adapters and mods for the ams to run 250g spools as well

Great video! When it comes to determining the TD, I printed some swatches but still not certain on measuring it properly. I used an opaque white (eSun Cold White) as the base. Is that the ideal way to do TD in your opinion? Was also thinking about getting the TD device.

The free way is the seashell test, its in your tools folder. Theres a pdf going over how to use it (im making a video on it very soon). Theres a cheap way on makerworld that uses a strip of cobb led’s, etc. the easiest is the td1 but theyre about sold out

So how many colors do you use like in that frog picture? Do you swap each color or have a couple of AMS's ?

I have 3 ams, but you can manually swap it. The ams just make it more automatic, but definitely not a requirement to do hueforge

@@NeoKoiPrints I am looking at the A1 with the AMS. I can print high temp filament with my old Qidi Max but I don't think it would be much fun trying to pause and swap with that slow printer. I think a newer printer with Klipper might be the better choice. Do you have any suggestions on printers? Maybe the P1S would be the better option and get a couple AMS units. Thanks for your video, you are really saying things I wanted to know.
@NeoKoiPrintsАй бұрын
With HueForges, warping can really be a thing. So enclosed printers just have that inherent advantage of not having to worry about drafts. I will say the a1 is a great printer though. I have the mini and love it. If you get the ams lite, you can use more than 4 colors for hueforge, you just wait until the 4th color is printing to swap out the other 3 spools for color 5,6, and 7
@sbr-synrosimbugracing9338Ай бұрын
@@NeoKoiPrints I was going to ask you about swapping out filament after that color was used in the HueForge. That makes sense and I agree with the enclosed printer. I think the P1S is a fair pick and doesn't break the bank. Thanks for the help. I am glad I found your channel, you are really helpful.
