All of the publishing royalties on their next single would go into UNICEF, to celebrate the International Year of the Child, which was designated to be 1979. The song earned over $7 million in publishing royalties."

The bee gees during their career also held the top four spots on the 100 billboard charts making them the only group to do so. No other group can lay claim to that. It was during the time when the block buster movie Saturday night fever hit the sliver screens with their songs for the soundtrack. They almost won a few academy awards for best original songs. Sadly though, because of rumors they didn't get to win. It was told later that their soundtrack songs were all written by them sparking a new wave of hits later on. Since then, the Bee gees went on to become one of the most successful singing bands of all time. And the fact that each brother learned numerous instruments which made them the most versatile group in the music industry. They also wrote songs for top billing icons like Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Cher, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, even Brittany Spears of all people. And they always wrote, produced, edited, mixed and foley effected all of their tracks themselves. They didn't need to rent a studio since they had their own to work with.

I'm really shocked! I can't imagine that there is anyone who doesn't know this band and their songs. After all, they have been in business for 60 years and have created countless #1 hits. Where have you lived until now? On another planet? What fascinates you so much is called the falsetto voice and the 3 brothers brought it to perfection. Unfortunately I have to tell you that the twins Robin and Maurice passed away more than 10 years ago, Barry, the guy with the full beard and the magnificent head of hair, is still alive, but is also 76 years old. Incidentally, the Gibb brothers have written countless hits that have been sung by a number of other well-known stars (Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Barbra Steusand, Celine Dion, etc.)

@@peterdarker1 I don't want to dispute that, but my children are, for example, children of the 90s and know the Bee Gees. Not that we heard them all the time. My grandchildren are also familiar with the Bee Gees, even if they may not know them by name, but they recognize one or the other well-known song and sing loudly - and wrongly :-) - along. However, if the musical spectrum is limited to only a few genres, then... it's just a shame that great music is forgotten so quickly!

Growing up as a youngster in the 70's I was a classic rock lover, and I was always confused as to why everything the Bee Gees put out went to # 1. Now as an oldster , I get it now

Just 3 guys who wrote, produced and sang stunningly beautiful music and who were absolutely perfectly in harmony when they sang together. Spirits Having Flown is my all time favourite Bee Gees album from which this stunning song came from. I urge anyone to listen to that album. You WON,T be disappointed.

The emotional response to the song and the singers is so refreshing. Tearing up means you have identified closely to the message and it has touched your heart in a special way. You 3 have touched my heart.

This is the music of my teenaged years. I was 12 years old when I first heard this song. It made me cry, the beauty and elegance is striking. The weight of the harmonies is crushing. These are the songs we would whistle as we walked around our neighborhood.

I always remember John Travolta coming out of a Bee Gee's concert and just saying Geniuses-I think he summed them up pretty well. As a child of the seventies, it's great seeing these beautiful young people enjoying the songs of that era as much as we all did. This whole concept is fantastic-asking the young one's what they think of these old songs.

My first concert was the BeeGees at the Oakland Coliseum 1979. I was sitting in the nosebleed section, but friend brought binoculars. On the floor seats in front of the stage the young girls were going crazy. And right next to them, their mothers were going crazy, too. LOL. Great music melting hearts of all generations.

It was amazing to watch 3 women fall instantly in love. You expressions and faces said it all. These guys had been around and having hits since the 60's but The rwo albums in the late 70's early 80's were massive. Many men would take the mickey out of them saying they sounded like girls, but it was pure jealousy because all their wives and girlfriends were going nuts over these guys. sadley only Barry is left as the other 3 brothers (one a solo artist) all died well before their time.

This song first came out in 1979.... Just seeing the magical charm & effect it has on present youngies of 2024 is totally mesmerizing !!!! True talent, True beautiful songs never Fade, never Die !!! Enjoy the remaining Bee Gees, ie. Barry Gibb, cos' time & tide waits for no one. He'll soon be over this world, & only memories & this song remains. Thank you to the Bee Gees, & the many many fantastic gifted music artists of the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s. Old is indeed Gold. Incidentally, I'm writing this comment in 11 Nov 2024..... Great beautiful songs never fade, they only grow on us all along with time. Thx, again, to the Bee Gees, etc.... of a by gone era. It will never be the same again.

I watched and listened to the reactions of these three very beautiful women with a BIG SMILE 😊 I was a young bloke when I first saw the Bee Gees as performers on an Australian talent show and followed their amazing rise to fame especially during the 70’s Disco Era. They resided for years in a Northern coastal region of Australia (not far from where I still reside) before they moved to the USA. Thank you very much for your delightful reactions. We still claim them as ours down here in Australia though they have all passed on now. God bless you 🤩🙏👍👏🤠🌹
