It would be great if analysts and business news folks would differentiate between what an exchange is and does versus a crypto currency itself. In the case of Bitcoin and other solid major coins there is zero change in the stability or intrinsic worth of the asset (commodity in the case of Bitcoin). I lived through the Mt Gox fiasco as a small holder of Bitcoin. I was posted in the Middle East and Mt Gox was floundering in Tokyo. Absolutely no one in my orbit knew what was happening or what to do about it. End of story is that Bitcoin remained Bitcoin, and merchants thereof moved on - some with shady practices. So is anything new?

No. When a normal bank collapses, the US government covers all the loans up to 250k per account holder. FTX had no protection. Once the rumor got out FTX was underfunded, it was a giant rum on the bank.

Any exchange that offers 8% in return is part of the larger picture of PONZINOMICS. There. I said it. You can't create 8% in return from NOTHING. Yes you lend it out to other exchanges that lend it to some retail investor who buys a JPG against his own cryptocurrency and goes bankrupt and you seize the crypto, however, there's a loss (of some substantial size if enough people do this) that needs to be covered from somewhere and printing more of your own token will not do the trick.
