A simple method of aerating these bins is to use that pvc pipe the height of the bin drill some holes along the length of this pipe to allow for circulation in the centre of the compost bin another method could be a length of leaky hose or an old poly pipe which has become damaged or is just a scrap length.

Yes, it’s a great idea and I’ve been meaning to ‘get around to it’ for ages. Thanks for the reminder.

Hi Stewart I have a gedye bin too. I recently installed a 65mm socked ag pipe dug in under the edge of the bin which runs through the centre of the bin up to below the lid. I am thinking it might help to aerate the compost without turning so often by allowing fresh air in.

I like that idea. I think I’ll give it a go myself. Thank you.

Thats a lot of bins. Will one 150L bin enough for family of 5?

Hi Gila, that's a very hard question to answer when there are so many variables involved. One bin can be enough. I have as many as I do (8 now) so I can produce more compost quicker. Maybe try one at first and see how you go. The approach with one bin is a little different and I'll make a video about that when I get a chance. Hope this helps! Cheers Stewart.
