Thanks for this. Like many people I’m sure, grew up seeing her on stage with Ash. Great to hear about those years in her own words - sounds like there was a chance she could’ve stayed if the communication within the band was better. Shame, they were something special with her. Really glad there’s no hard feelings between her and Tim though. Cheers.

Really fascinating interview. I was never a fan of Ash and discovered Charlotte Hatherley completely by chance around the time she released her second album. She's a very accomplished writer but obviously more in the 'Bowie' mould (read: much more talented!) than her ex-bandmates, which meant she was probably never going to achieve the same sort of mainstream success in today's climate. Pleased to see she's doing so well for herself though, and she definitely infuenced a lot of musos, including me (she was also one of my first live gigs - playing to a small room in Leeds, which I thought was bloody criminal for how good those albums were, really!).

She's very talented indeed and hugely underrated but then again in Britpop terms I always thought Ash never reached the heights which they deserved, brilliant band and Tim Wheeler is a fantastic musician.
