Yes some of the older people they still have that lets a slave mentality and they treat the children so bad get your nappy a over here or get your B ass over here and I was so shocked when I heard them putting their own children down which they can put nobody's children down but we have to get a new term for children I was in the street out shopping yesterday and this lady went to pick up her maybe grandchild I don't know but you can tell she was strung out on drugs and the child she was skipping so happily because she didn't know all she know is Grandma was picking her up or maybe mama was picking her up and I am so happy to know that that little child she was so innocent she didn't know the difference but when she finds out what was going on what is she going to do is she going to carry on the tradition and a sad is really sad and I'm so sorry that our children don't have things to live for sometime good things they have to see so much bad before good comes to them please please treat your children well respect them give them the respect that they need believe me I cry for the little children

We are not our hair we are women we are men and I'm talking about black man and black women we are not our here we should think of ourselves as educated human beings whether we are educated in school or self-educated and I don't mean bad education or Street education I mean in life where we can tell our children you are somebody you are going to be somebody and I'm going to help you along and tell them not to destroy they Community not to drop papers on the grounds when there is a basket two steps away from you not to spit on the ground because it is a bodily waste and it has germs and when you step on it to bring it back into your house teach your children to respect themselves there was a little boy I don't know where he heard it from but he was telling another young man or little boy I should say cuz he was on the 12 years old to put his mouth on his body his lower body and he didn't say like say it like that and I said where did that little child learn that from did he learn it in his house did he hit his father tell his mother to do that an angry rage children hair and if they figure daddy said it then I'm going to go out in the street and I'm going to say it when I'm angry that's teaching your son to disrespect others and if he is the boy look like he was seven maybe eight years old maybe he really don't understand what that mean be careful what you say in front of your children and we are not out here be respected keep it clean and your hair will flourish and you will be so proud

@@xtelfolaj Lol I've always had long hair but I don't perm and when I did only once a year, deep condition once every other wk, I seriously drink lots of h20, l don't use heat barely never. Honestly, our hair is extremely beautiful and if more Black women would take time to learn how to take care of our hair, all black hair would be long and Healthy. It's work but it's worth it. I also wear LOTS of protective styles. U know I grease my scalp and use only organic and natural products. Also something that bothers me so much, WE NEED A LITTLE SULFATE IN OUR SHAMPOO!! Sulfate is a cleanser and conditioning cleansers are not for thoroughly cleaning, they add moisture. Sulfate cleans the scalp of hair build up, hair spray etc. Thank U so much!

Well we always as women we want to feel pretty weather will work it out or just going to the spa or whatever we're doing we are women we will always have that feeling of having nice gym clothes on so but we must realize that I will here is our crown and Glory and we must keep it well keep it clean don't have people said oh your hair looks dirty that we should always think about cleanliness because I know that people of other races say that we don't smell well why I don't know but we must clean ourselves ladies you must wash your lower area everyday because I hear this man named Tommy Sotomayor saying that black women have bad odors there's only two reasons why a woman should have a bad odor if she's on her monthly but you have to keep that clean if he may have an infection you go to the doctor or if she's not washing herself prop properly

It wasn’t until recently that I realised always having my natural hair out was such a big deal. When I was younger if my hair wasn’t in braids it was up in a pineapple style. I don’t wear wigs and I haven’t had my hair properly braided in years. Back in July I was in London shopping with my dad and one of the shop assistants said something along the lines of ‘love seeing a woman embracing/being confident with her natural hair’ it felt so weird because I was so used to having my hair like that but after hearing her I felt amazing knowing I’d being doing something that should be so normal for so many years and hopefully making my family proud by embracing my afro. Absolutely loved the filmed one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time 🖤

We have black one women wear stuck on eye with hair you can have the same hair as Margarita down the street but you can keep your hair clean you can I have natural hair you can have relaxed here which ever you are comfortable with and like I'm saying now I'm tired of having this conversation with black women about the hair our here shouldn't be part of a half an hour or hour interview we should be past that now this is 2018 and we're still having terrible conversations about black hair we should have learned by now how to take care of out here so that we can complement each other about hell I am natural and I like being natural and I don't have my hair shooting all over my head and looking like a Brillo pad I have my hair neatly combed or finger Combs I am really outraged about in 2018 will still talkin about hell learn how to control your hair with washing conditioning oiling whatever you do be proud of your hair so that maybe in the next couple of years the only thing we will have to talk about is how we keep it healthy

Sana’a is wonderful. I took a leap and chopped off my hair. I turned 45 and due to issues with hair loss and shedding I didn’t feel I looked my best. Once I cut it of it was like the best gift I gave myself . I’ve gained more confidence and people tell me I have such a glow. I love my transformation and I’ve always been a fan of Sanaa. It felt like confirmation cause I saw a preview for the movie shortly after I cut mine in June of this year.

Aww I love that. My niece loved her natural hair at the age of 2 and3 . But her grandparents put a lot on appearance and what is acceptable in their world is having straight hair otherwise they would call her nappy and say she looked a mess. And now at the age of 8 she is doing the same thing to others. I'll usually point out ppl with curly hair and say they are so beautiful and she will say something like his/her hair is a mess. It's so sad that she now thinks that you're only beautiful when your hair straight.

The movie was long overdue, she is a amazing talented actor and she breathe life into her role, now about good hair and bad hair, think of people being a plant like for instance, we all know if your grass grow, you think of you grass as being good grass, people are just like a plant, if your hair is growing and it's full, that's good hair, no matter what the texture is, good hair comes in all kind of texture but the so called black person hair is number one, you can do so much with it and as you grow older, it do not fall out as easily like the rest do and we don't get lice, I'm just stating facts.

This is so true what they are saying. Hair means so much in black culture. I've grown up with thick wavy hair but ppl always say it's pretty when it is straight mostly. It's so weird having to force your hair into straight styles. Nice that we have more natural promo but even there people find ways to make it better to have a certain grade of natural hair. Smh so crazy

Sorry I do have a problem with the word nappy that's what the Caucasians called us now that we have daughters nieces little sisters we as black women can break that cycle and tell them that is not nappy our hair is Curly different types of curls thickness! And even when me and my daughter wear our hair out my own family and friends look at us sideways like wow are you going to do something with your hair and that's like telling myself that my family and friends are not really woke or should I say know the knowledge of our hair so therefore I have to explain to my daughter like baby your hair is beautiful no it's not nappy it's curly you can also wear your hair out naturally and you can put it up in braids but most importantly you're going to love your curly hair not your nappy hair think about it break the cycle is not nappy it's curly!

The only person I remember calling me happy headed was my mom as in bring your lil nappy headed ass here, sometimes seriously sometimes playfully. I'd beat the shit out of a white person calling me nappy headed.

I didn’t have a problem with it because it was a catchy name to make you pay attention and the meaning of the movie went with the title. My hair is not curly it’s coiled. I guess it depends on your upbringing. I live in Florida and nappy wasn’t super negative to us. U were nappy or permed. That’s it. Idc what white ppl say. Nappy is nothing compared to the many other words they still say. The movie took a negative word and turned it into a positive.

I agree and nappy was never used im a good context even in black households Thats why so many of us got perms so our hair wouldn't be nappy. I do like kinky curly coily textured thick fine fluffy I can wear a fro and someone might call it nappy until zi run a comb or my fringers right through

Curly is also a word caucasians have given us to use as Euphemism.. downplaying what is. Just how we have used N@##a and turned it into something else, we can take Nappy and make it our own #Nappilyeverafter

My 4c hair is like an unruly child whom I 😍❤ ...but just will not listen😡 Therefore, it is constantly in time out🕛 ...under these wigs I have weaved, wigged, gone natural, grew it out, chopped it off, layed hands on it Only thing I haven't done is prayed & fasted...
