Which if memory serves does seem to create a unique interaction with the abyss biome, I remember someone saying they were able to deal with the aquatic calamity by drawing it into agro with some hullbreakers. Admittedly that might simply be a case of no special interactions being made but it would seem to track with how the fungus works. Have to check is mushrooms can survive in the deep ocean.

Oh dang an infection mod actually managed to take over toxic caves well. Also like another person said, infecting dimensions from dimensional doors mod would be pretty sick and also a way to celebrate it finally being ported to forge
