What Happened is a Documentary about the DotCom 1.0 era (1995-2000 market crash), created by Chas Mastin, Michael Lefort, Aldo Bello and a cast of characters in 2001-02. It features such luminaries as Marc Cuban and explains how investment banks helped create the 90's tech bubble. If you would like to hear the hilarious and tragic stories of companies like Boo.com, we have them straight from the workers on the front lines.

I was too young at that time to understand whats going on in the world, i think up until 9/11 i can't remember anything what happened in politics or economy and after that it's all people talked about. Only much much later i heard about this dotcom bubble and never quite knew what it was. So thank you very much for this documentary, you've done an excellent job.

This was a great way to live the late 90's nostalgia. This documentary captures it all. I forgot that our company was supporting a coffee/bagel shop on its own. The utility in Bitcoin is terrible. In terms of speed it's a joke compared to Raiblocks or Ripple. In terms of decentralisation, the vast majority of it is owned by groups in China, in terms of real world cost it's soaking up massive amounts of electricity to power the bit coin mining farms, in terms of anonymity it's beaten by Monero. There isn't a single advantage to bitcoin other than exchanges using it because it gained market dominance first but that dominance is disappearing to alt coins month on month. Anyone who is still praising Bitcoin has either never had to wait hours for it to transfer or has invested so much into it they can't stop.
@RizzoDaManiac
@RizzoDaManiac 6 жыл бұрын
No, because Bitcoin, was never solely meant to be used as a peer-to-peer money transfer method. It's use was to replace gold, hence the purpose of a finite number of coins ever mineable. The goal was to have other crypto currencies that trade with it's value based on Bitcoin. As gold isn't a good medium for exchange, but the Dollar, backed on gold is easily transferable. The various new crypto currency start ups can be seen as new countries, with each of it's coin representing said coins (country) fiat currency. The countries that don't produce a strong GDP (Useful tech) loses value in its coin, but never does the entire system collapse based on a single event.

It is kind of annoying but it shows a different aspect. Usually you hear about the business side which is very important but it goes to show that juvenile behavior, overzealous investors, mismanagement, excess and public image took priority over business strategies, market research, ethics and HR practices which are key to success.

With these kinds of bubbles, there are always gems. Think Amazon, the people that invested 4 or 5k with them in 97, and didn't sell their shares, made a lot of money. Some are even millionaires. We'll just have to see how this crypto thing turns out. The general public really hasn't even caught wind of cryptos yet. When we start seeing documentaries and special reports circulating heavily, then we'll know that we're truly in the bubble stage for cryptos.
