@bridge46 жыл бұрын
yeah, jaime is a true stud on the field. both in terms of his skills and also his lack of fear. he always goes for the snakes head (like he tried with Dany at the field of fire in season 7) he's totally down with self-sacrifice in an attempt to end wars with as few deaths as possible he's actually my favorite character now. somehow, he surpassed my man man for years - Ser Davos and Sandor has really grown on me too. i'd say those are my top three, aside from shireen and pod. who are yours?

samwell jaime and jorah are my favorites I really like tyrion in the books never a dull moment my opinion. I get why you like davos but the show version for me not so much. It's at the root of alot of prblems, IIke cersei and king robert
@joanneb96727 жыл бұрын
bridge4 , Yeah I totally agree, I bet it was awful to be forced to marry someone because you was told too. As a female you'd feel just like a breeding mare and the male like he had no control of his life. Also it would be pot luck on whether you both ended up even liking each other lol. It's true like u said that was the cause of many of the problems in GOT /ASOIAF, King Robert & Cersei, Rhagar etc. Great topic & a enjoyable video content. You're a good dude bridge4 😉. Thanks 😎

battle of the camps btw, is what happens next. jaime had taken 2k men to go get that scoutng pary. turned out to be a trick. robs 6k beats him and captures him then they go to riverrun and take out all 12-13k of jaime's leaderless forces and free riverrun they dont talk about it in the show, but supposedly they mention this happenining in a blueray extra or something

+Chicken 14 you just pumped me up to finish an "in defense of jaime lannister" video that I began a couple weeks ago It took me awhile to come around,bc its hard ti forgive that infamous push. But in early 2017, I finally realized that I'm officially on team jaime. He subsequently became one of my favorite characters :)) I'm with you in hoping he survives, but I am fearful that he won't :( as long as he finds out jon I'd rhaegars son and earns back his honor (in his own head) but protecting rhaegars child, then I'll be happy :)
@chicken14567 жыл бұрын
bridge4 oh yea the push smh well I honestly feel like to this point he has redeemed himself. He has done some bad things but also a lot of good to this point especially how season 7 ended. Now don't get me wrong it was horrible he pushed Bran but honestly ask yourself what would you do in that situation?
@bridge47 жыл бұрын
the video im making is actually about how the push isnt really that "wrong" in a way. its wrong from our perspective, but our world isnt lke theirs. we have a justice system to protect our rights. being with cersei was weird, but shoud it have been punishable by death? imo, no. but in their system, thats what would have happened so i cant say id have done the same. at least, id hope not. but i also no longer think he even needed redemption. they just live in a flawed system, where some choices unfortunately have to be made at the expense of others.... pretty sad

thank you so much for this explanation this makes so much more sense what a pity it wasn't shown on screen would've been so good to see robb lead the battle that really showed what a mastermind military guy he is (which later on jaime even uses on season 7 and brings him up)
@bridge47 жыл бұрын
yeah. he made some mistakes (thalisa and karstark), ct made some (tyrion and jaime), and edmure made one. but at times, robb was a legit commander... at 15 years old!! =)
@KOriginalAddict7 жыл бұрын
yeah, but in the show it was more the fact that robb had the best strategy but people's incompetence ruined things for him like cat and edmure going against his wishes (tho he should've warned edmure about the POINT of making the lannisters come to them before) the red wedding was a way for tywin to retaliate for the time they took jaime and he only had enough insurance to do that when he was set free, i don't think he'd risk such a huge move while they still had him, that's why robb didn't want to let him go that easy robb was a wonderful leader, one that inspired so much respect and justice (in a way) but also admiration, it's a real shame most people around him, his mother who went behind his back with no real insurance she could get sansa at all, and the karstark guy (that i really hate) who was insanely hell bent on revenge that he should've sent him away on some mission idk he created more problems, and also theon betraying him (didn't ned tell cat to not leave him alone there something like that?) his fall wasn't really because of his own actions safe for going back on his word (that was more justified in the books as he didn't want to dishonor a girl than just kinda selfish desire for love that had no place in the middle of war) but more the incompetence of everyone under him, the blackfish was the only one who had very good input btw i made some comments on your previous jaime vid i think you'd be interested (i wrote a lot) to discuss it ;)

@mike.n.n.77236 жыл бұрын
In my opinion the main thing which cost Robb the war was when Edmure decided to attack the Mountain instead of staying put This attack freed Tywin's forces to go to Kings Landing and join their forces to the Tyrells and defeat Stannis at the Blackwater If Tywin was unable to move, most probably Stannis would have overpowered Kings landing and Cersei and Tyrion would be ornamenting spikes And if Joffrey was dead there is no incentive for the Tyrells to side with the Lannisters And Stannis would probably help Robb defeat Tywin

Just out of curiousity, what decisions do you think Robb could have made that would have turned out better for him in this particular battle? I am not sure, as you say, whether or not sending 16,000 men to die was the best idea, but i see that it may very well have been the right one giving the intel he had and the situation he found himself in! I can only imagine that having almost your entire close family held at swordpoint(?) ;) would also play a factor in the urgency of your decision making! What tactical decisions if any do you think he could have made in this battle to improve his odds of winning the war overall? I think that I believe making the Jaime Lannister trade overall wasn't worth it, giving that almost the best case scenario at the end of this is that he has around 6000 strong men left, and Jaime Lannister. An absolutely great hostage in any situation definately, though I feel he would have been better off without the hostage in this case, and with a strong, capable army instead. Would love to hear your thoughts on this! Hope life is treating you well Kevin! Ben J
@bridge47 жыл бұрын
in the show, he sent 2k to die. i dont think he intended them to die in the books tho. 16k to 20k (granted, hs 16k didnt have much cavalry, but even so, i think he was hoping theyd win the day) as far as moves to help wn the war, he did everything right here. and in the next battle. hs wrong move was thalisa. and aso cat messed t up by lettng tyrion go and then freeing jaime. oh and another BIG mistake was klling karstark. he lost all those men because of it atleast 2k iirc
@bridge47 жыл бұрын
and edmure scrwewed him too bc pushing laninster forces back. if he hadnt done that, they would have traveled west to fight, and stannis would have taken the city he then could have bent the knee to stannis, like his dad wanted (and he supported)

Loras Tyrell wanted to be the one to chase down The Mountain, if he goes maybe he dies like Beric D. If he dies no way do the Tyrells side with the Lannisters, Tywin ultimately being responsible for giving The Mountain the order to raid and kill, Loras included. Without those men, Stannis takes Kings Landing and the Lannisters lose the war. That's how delicate the situation was.

it'd be awesome if you do a book read of the entire series! its a lot of work but if you ever get around to do it, it would be epic with your voice.

If Robb was the military commander and someone who was competent at diplomacy did all the political stuff, the North would've won. Easily.

As usual a great video.... really helped me. And i respect Robb so much ..... yes he made mistakes but doing all this stuff at 15 years of age 😲😵 .

The show strategy would never have worked. If you just send 2000 of your own men off to be murdered, it will completely break the morale of your army. Those 2000 men would likely have surrendered to the Lannisters immediately if they accepted the command to go at all, and all the troops remaining would be looking for a new commander or an end to the war by any means necessary. Also, not only does it break morale, but troops weren't that easy to come by. A loss of 2000 (10% of Rob's army) is a very large blow and could seriously screw you over in the long run. Pitched battles were actually very rarely fought because both sides would lose so much from it. Mostly it was just skirmishes, raids and sieges. Another example that has both of these problems is Ramsay firing on his own troops at Winterfell. I get the reason he fought outside the walls is because he figured due to a huge numbers advantage and the wildlings lack of tactical awareness he could massacre them, especially if he could manipulate them into charging, which he did. That was a bad tactic but it's a decent argument that Ramsay needs to appear strong because his support of the north was fragile. There was far more risk involved than he realised because he didn't know the Knights of the Vale were coming. But in that battle, he kills his own troops with arrows, which would break morale but seriously threaten his hold on the North. The Boltons lost a lot less men than most because they switched sides in the War of Five Kings, and they need to hold as many men as possible at all costs because they are outright hated by most of the North. So it was a terrible move for that. Also, he shoots down his own cavalry. That was a stunningly stupid idea, because horses were incredibly expensive and much harder to come by than just a normal soldier. Most horses were owned by the rider, who would usually be of minor nobility and up, not a peasant. And this problem is magnified by winter, as the harsh snows present a serious problem in keeping horses alive anyway. In the books both Stannis and Roose Bolton have serious issues with this. Stannis lost most of his cavalry on the march to Winterfell and Roose had to resort to stabling the horses in Winterfell's great hall with his own troops.

Where are the videos mentioned at the end of the video?
@Gotten377 жыл бұрын
Your videos are so great! You can make a video on a random scene from the show or a random sentance from the books and it would be thoughroly entertaining!
@bridge47 жыл бұрын
+Gotten37 lol I dunno about that. I made one a couple weeks ago that I wouldn't publish bc I didnt like it. I decided I'll publush it wed and see if anyone likes it tho lol. And the oNE I literally just finished is something pretry small from s7e1,yet I sort of mentioned some big topics without diving into them, so it feels flat. Or off. It's targeting for Friday but I dunno lol. I have some fun stuff ib the pipeline tho, at least I hope But anyway thank you for the kind words!
@Gotten377 жыл бұрын
bridge4 yes of course! We will gladly watch any video you put out. If I could throw an idea/request your way, perhaps a video on the relationship between Dany and her dragons from the books? The show has little to nothing on that matter.
@bridge47 жыл бұрын
im actually hafway done with one of those. i always get tangented from ideas to work on "simpler" ones. the dany hatching video actually stemmed from a video im working on related to her dragon bond, and whether her bond with the dragon changes her

did Roose Bolton order his son to sack Winterfell if he did then thats would weaken his side in the middle of a war unless, he was allied with Tywin, or was thinking ahead about this, since season 2 would Roose really have risked weakening his own Kingdom at a chance of being promoted to Warden of the North or do you think Ramsey did it for fun and Bolton pride, knowing he could get away with it, and then Roose simply made the best of a bad situation once he saw that Robb was blinded with rose coloured glasses, and saw this as a weakness
