The easiest way to simplify the ending is to say, because pucci was erased from this new universe, his gravitational pull wouldn’t exist so it couldn’t drag Jolyne and the others down their Part 6 paths. So they’re given new ones that are much better without Pucci’s influence

@TheOriginalPoon2 жыл бұрын
My only thing about this theory is how that’s supposed to change Jolyne and everyone else’s name Pucci obviously was around during SDC, but he was never around Jotaro and it wouldnt be much of a stretch to say that all of this gravitational pull regarding fate was manifested almost entirely within Dio, as he was a sort of aberration and crime against nature since he shouldn’t be alive. That last bit of course is total speculation, but considering how the first 6 parts and thus the entire first saga of Jojo revolves around Dio I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch

@@TheOriginalPoon the easiest way to explain that is a sort of reverse butterfly effect. Small little things would’ve lead to some of their names different. The only one that’s got a bigger explanation is Jolyne. Everyone in the Joestar bloodline who has two Jo’s in there name, are fated to battle evil. The Jolyne to Irene name change is DEFINITELY symbolic. Every Jostar meant to battle evil has a name that can be shortened to JoJo. He wasn't even granted the chance to be reborn and have a life where he may have never met DIO.

FF wasn't originally a plankton, though, it was one of the stands that Dio gave to Pucci in order to amass the forces needed for the heaven plan. FF as we know her in Stone Ocean is the result of Pucci using the stand disc to give a human soul to a colony of plankton. FF isn't in the Irene-verse because the original user wouldn't have been taken by White Snake before the start of the story, and the colony wouldn't have had the means to become human. Presumably, that user is still alive and somewhere else.

And may I just add, it's preposterous how many people think that the ending of Emporio beating Pucci is "random and out of nowhere, forced beacause 'justice had to win' ". This is actually perfect as an ending for Pucci's character and all of Stone Ocean, fitting the theme of fate and justice perfectly. All throughout the story, fate ensured that Pucci will attain heaven for everyone, and make the people know the future of their life, to accept it and live happily. but Pucci, after sensing that he will be defeated by Emporio someday in the future, chose to stop the process right before he succeeded to go kill Emporio, and defied fate, the one thing helping him to win, he wants everyone to accept their fate, but rejected his own fate of death. This is the moment his hypocrisy and evil lay bare, the moment he chose to let go of fate, fate let go of him and made him drop from heaven all the way to hell. Starting from the moment he chose to do evil deeds and ruin people's live, his failure was sealed, as he will ultimately fail cause his hypocrisy and hubris will make him fall. his fate of defeated, also ironically, destined due to his hypocrite and arrogant nature. The ending of Stone Ocean made a lot of sense, Very Much sense and is close to perfection in conveying the theme, which is to know your destiny while still having hopes and fight on. It just needed more thinkings to realise how masterfully done and how much symbolism Stone Ocean had and sadly so many people didn't.
@havinearlong90552 жыл бұрын
And if you look back closely, every single member of the Stone Ocean team (expect Emporio) continued to fight in their last moments without hesitation, knowing very well that they will die. Foo Fighters chose to sacrifice themselves and saved Annasui, then passed on without regret. Weather Report had no fear or hesitation in his final moments, and instead used Whitesnake to pull out his Disc as hope for the team to carry on. Hermes knew very well that she's likely to die in front of such powerful enemy, yet went with Jolyne and the others to the sea, and showed no fear in the final battle. Annasui, knowing very well that he could was very likely to die in the process, proposed to use Diver Down to protect Jotaro and everyone else, just to fight for a slim chance of victory. Jotaro, knowing that all may be lost including his life if he don't kill Pucci in stopped time, yet still chose to give up that one opportunity just to save his daughter and Jolyne, knowing that she will definitely die if do so, went on to become the last barrier to fight off against Pucci and save Emporio as their last hope. Everyone knew they would die, and nobody ever showed any hesitation or fear towards it. Everyone died fighting without regret. They looked at their inevitable fate and carried on without giving up hope. Every single one of them, did what Pucci failed to do, to accept their fate and life without regret. So even if their bodies deceased, their soul truly attained heaven and lived on, while Pucci was fated to suffer in hell forevermore. This is what part 6's theme always had been, to fight even when knowing your fate and never give up, to live without regret, marching on with no hesitation. And ironically despite this was supposedly Pucci's goal all throughout the part, he failed at it while the Stone Ocean Team succeeded. They were true heros.

and his defiace against fate screwed his plan up so much, since he essentially erased himself, and gave his enemies their greatest wishes. Jotaro got a break and lived happily with his family, jolyne had her father and had a boyfriend and didn't go to prison, anasui dated and possibly married jolyne, which was his one goal, ermes mentions her sister meaning she's alive, and weather report seems fine (and probably still dating his sis) , and they all meet each other anyways.

Literally no amount of therapy will ever make him ok I know the theme and moral is that we have to and should move forward and learn to with our pain in spite of itself So I know the concept of this greatly undercuts the weight of both SO’s ending AND jojo’s themes entirely But MiH is such a cartoonishly nightmare event for someone to go through, that’s it’s beyond relatability so the idea that this event permanently scarred him and impacted his life in negative ways is believable So at most, we can just hope that Jotaro flew him over to Rohan to just use heavens door to write the memory of MiH out of emporios head, if it helps you cope Only issue is there’s a hard argument to be made that that’s even crueler from an in-universe perspective that he literally willingly chose to forget the people who were instrumental in not only saving him, but helping him grow. Emporio’s matures enough and lost so much that for all we know, he wouldn’t even WANT to forget them since it’s all he has left of them anyways. The endings great but it seems to work better for us than it does for emporio as an actual person One things for sure, When Rohan reads his mind, he’s gonna get a hell of an inspo for his next manga 💀

@@salty_3k506 yeah, Ik, that’s why I said thematically it fucks with the story despite maybe technically being the right thing for emporio to do mentally. On a meta-narrative sense, you’re supposed to interpret his heartbreak over losing the gang as the same kinda heartbreak you’d undergo if you lost a pet, family member, friend or loved one, or even things like simply graduating from high school, losing your job or finishing a hobby or task that meant the world to you...almost like a certain manga story that’s conveniently being wrapped up. Shows like Gurren lagann teach a similar moral about how it takes more than just believing in yourself, pressing on while you’re still currently scared or sad is equally important and something we all have to do. “Moving on” doesn’t inherently mean that you got over or forgot whatever it is that you lost, just that you accept it, it’s still living rent free in the back of your mind, but that’s ok! But as I said, MiH in-universe is so cartoonishly nightmarish that it’s beyond relatability and it’s pretty understandable if emporio moves on and lives his life but never ever fully bounces back from this and lives a very emotionally disturbed fucked up life. So I get both sides of why someone would feel conflicted on emporio’s state of mind with its ending. I love the ending for how beautifully raw and cruel it is, but I can see why people feel it’s a bit much to leave a kid alone in that state of mind for the finale of the jojo’s original universe franchise.

So when pucci died the universe reset didnt complete. Emporio was thrown into the original universe and puccis soul was left behind in the new pucciverse that got deleted. So when Emporio went back to the original universe it was altered, because puccis soul was no longer there, he was erased (or replaced by a lookalike). Because pucci didn't exist, Jotaro didn't end up fighting DIOs remaining followers and he was able to raise Jolyne. All of their lives were altered because Pucci was erased from the original universe. It's not a new universe, it's an altered original universe. It's not bittersweet at all. The souls of all the main cast are still there and these aren't imposters. That's why Emporio was so emotional when he saw Jolyne, unlike in the pucciverse where he knew it wasn't them. I can tell you from experience that even when Part 5 was pretty much hated by JoJo fans and they saw Part 6 as better by comparison, there was a deluge of misinformation about Part 6 and its ending. People have been making shit up and misunderstanding every JoJo part for a while, probably since there were Western JoJo fans, and that probably goes for fans in other regions as well. I'm also hesitant to chalk it up to speed reading 6, though it probably does play some part. However, I've seen lot of people speed read most of JoJo because they want to catch up, not just 6. I noticed that this started getting talked about most with Part 6 a few years ago when people wanted an explanation for why people didn't like it, but it's not an exclusive issue with 6, and it's hard to say if it's more prevalent with 6. I think an even more likely factor is JoJo fans seeing all the text explaining MiH, and then because they are lazy and just want to get back to the action, they give it little to no attention. I really think it's just that Part 6 has some complex plot points, and many JoJo fans do not care enough to really analyze the story. And they lack proper reading comprehension, at least for JoJo. I mean just look at 7; everyone praises it as the best written part, but I've interacted with a lot of people who think that and don't even understand parts of it they praise. JoJo is just unfortunately plagued with a subsection of fans that go Baby Brain Mode when it comes to the series' writing.

Everything from Parts 1-5 happens the same exact way. Only the ones who Pucci personally killed during the MIH were reborn with better fates. The events of Part 6 never happens because Pucci no longer exists because he died before the reset was finished. If Pucci doesn't exist then nobody frames Jolyne of murder so she never goes to prison and Jotaro never had to constantly watch his back for DIO's minions and he can stay with his family. So Jotaro and Jolyne have a normal father-daughter relationship after the reset. The generations long Joestar vs DIO fate was also erased with Pucci since he was the only one who knew about DIO's heaven plan. Nobody else will be able to carry on DIO's will. This is why Jolyne's name is Irene. There are no conflicts in this universe, so she is not a JoJo. That's why Araki created SBR universe since the original universe no longer has any threats to the Joestars. Also Pucci doesn't "reset" the universe, he speeds it up so much that the universe ends and begins again. Try thinking of it like a clock, a full rotation is 1 day. Pucci starts speeding up the clock at 10am and stops at the next 10am. This is where he fights Emporio and dies. Pucci dying causes Made In Heaven to lose its effect and it goes back to the original universe, basically Pucci's plan of erasing the Joestars backfired and he got erased instead. Since now Pucci doesn't exist in the original universe, no one would kill Jotaro, Jolyne and rest. So they have better lives. We don't see FF reborn because FF doesn't exist anymore since Pucci is the one who created FF by giving a stand disc to planktons. You could say Pucci did not cause Ermes or Anasui to go to prison so why do they have better lives too? Gravity and Fate are a larger force in JoJo than you may think. Ermes and Anasui were fated to fight this battle against Pucci so they were drawn into these specific situations that led them there. Just how Pucci keeps repeating that the Kujos are his greatest allies. Since Pucci does not exist, they no longer have to go to prison and join Jolyne. This force of fate has been prevalent throughout the series, Zeppelis dont intentionally die for JoJos, they are fated to. Bucciarati was fated to die anyway, trying to prevent it caused the path to change but the destination still led to Bucciarati dying. People saying Giorno and Rohan weren't affected are beyond stupid. LIVING BEINGS WERE NOT AFFECTED BY MADE IN HEAVEN. Nobody was affected by it. Made in Heaven's goal was to reach singularity point and safely transport all living things to the new universe. Pucci wanted to kill Jotaro and Jolyne so that their bodies are destroyed since they would no longer be "living beings" and cannot move to the new universe. Rohan meeting deadlines meant his drawing is so fast that he can draw before the ink dries out. Other mangakas were unable to draw because the ink dried out before they could touch the paper. Made In Heaven physically did not affect anyone.

I was always curious about what happened with the millions of people that died because of the secondary effects of the acceleration (like that guy we saw freeze to death). Did they reincarnate into new lives as the main cast as well? Does "fate" apply to them? In theory, a world like that should be really different because of the butterfly effect. Either the answer is fate or Araki didn't want to overcomplicate it so much. I'm also curious about the sign that we see when Emporio is on the new universe that says "Orland" instead of "Orlando." It could be a printing/drawing error, but I like to think that is a sign of how this universe is different. But again, the new Rohan chapter takes place after Part 6, and everything is pretty similar. Maybe Araki was just like "I dunno. I just wanted to write Rohan again, but he is like on pandemic lmao."

The easiest way I find to explain part 7 is to never call it a “new universe” - it’s a new canon, a reboot of the series. It’s an important distinction because like, D4C has the power to travel to parallel universes, but despite what Eyes of Heaven says, there is no way for D4C to travel so far he ends up in the Phantom Blood canon. It makes as much sense as a stand being able to walk between panels of the manga…
@nessesaryschoolthing2 жыл бұрын
I think the whole confusion is an unfortunate byproduct of the way we use the term "universe" in fiction. In the case of Part 6, "the universe" that was reset was the literal universe, the physical space within the cosmos. In Part 7, "the universe" that was reset was the IP, including the characters and ideas it contains, as in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe". One word to mean two very different things.

Pucci's Fate was to complete the Universe he set everyone up to (the one where Emporio finds himself in). However, because Emporio was saved by Jolyne, Pucci decided to stop his OWN fate to pursue ''lose ends'' such as Emporio. Pucci denied his own purpose and by doing that, the fate of Made In Heaven was undo, alongside Pucci, who ceased to exist altogether, creating a timeline where the Joestar lived happy without the Bloodline curse. Pucci not only screwed his already WON state-of-the-world, but he also put DIO's work into Oblivion as well. Yeah Dio still existed since Giorno appears in the Ireneverse Ending. Thats the easiest way to put it. He shot his own foot twice, by chosing to chase Jolyne's gamble and by speeding the time it took for Oz3 to intoxicate his body.

Essentially, it's like the various Crisis reboot events DC Comics have every few years or so. In fact, not all of them are even truly reboots, only 2 are: Crisis on Infinite Earths(which led to the modern era of DC) and Flashpoint(which rebooted the Post-Crisis era into the New 52). The rest were just retcons/reversals to clean up the inconsistencies the original Crisis ended up making. Pucci was Retconned out of existence, thus the events of Part 6 and the circumstances surrounding them never occurred: Jolyne doesn't end up in prison(she may not also have her Stand) and has a better relationship with her dad. Jotaro, no longer fearing for his family now that DIO's top henchman is not a threat(as Pucci technically never existed), could now be close to his family. However, everything from Parts 1 to 5 still happened as we know them and Part 6 was retconned into a pseudo version, but the main characters still ending up together somehow. Except F.F.

My head cannon or own interpretation, is that when Pucci died, his existence was erased from the universe, hence eliminating the Dio's curse altogether (he was basically the last thread). The only lives that changed were the ones affected by Pucci himself, everything else continued to be the same. This can also explain why Jolyne has a different name and had a happier life, since Pucci wasn't interfering in Jotaro life (as mentioned in the video, a symbolic change)

1 - pucci starts making a new universe but when someone dies on the old one, their soul stays there. 2- Universe pucci was making isn't complete yet and pucci dies, pucci's soul stays on the new universe he created. 3- Because pucci soul stayed on the universe he created, pucci never existed on main universe so he never influenced anyone's life - giving jotaro a peacefull life and also others. 4- The universe resets to a point where jolyne + cast were still alive. so (NOT PUCCI'S STAND) the universe recreates jolyne and gives her and cast a similiar destiny that is getting together again, because jotaro had a happy life jolyne > irine isn't a jojo anymore ending the joestar curse. 6- Reason anassui aka anakiss, weather report and ermes aren't in jail is because not only pucci doesn't exist, but Destiny wanted them all to meet again, so it changed their lifes to avoid prison. It's important to know how important destiny is in jojo (look at rolling stones stand), that being said.... 7- all revived characters feel the same about each other, have more or less same personality also only thing that changed was the removed memories (araki part 6 ending letter) Does jotaro name change? unlikely because his life wasn't that affected by the reset because again (destiny) so jotaro still did part 3-4-5, so it's possible jotaro name, ermes also didn't change. One could even say only jolyne and anassui's name changed because those are the only 2 the creator mentions. But i do think it's likely that weather reports name changed also.

Well, it's kinda poetic if anything, which fits with Araki's way. Having the same souls even after a twice incarnated universe is probably the answer that coincides wth the "happy endings" Araki likes to write for those on the path of justice. Even if the memories aren't the same, the soul is the same, so Irene and Jolyne wouldn't be that different, at least not where it counts. I think the nod to Irene and Anakiss being betrothed in the new universe is a comedic nod to that.

Ok, so I finally get it I just finished watching Part 6 and was really confused to what the ending meant So, if I understood correctly, after Emporio defeated Pucci with Weather Report, the universe reset once more, making us go to "Universe 3", which is a rewritten version of "Universe 1", but only after Part 5 (Phantom Blood to Golden Wind occur exactly the same way as we saw them) In this rewritten universe, Pucci no longer exists and all the main characters live as if all of them had survived Pucci and "lived happily ever after" Of course 'cause Part 6 didn't happen in this "new" universe, they don't have those memories and have to meet each other once again (I still wonder what happens to Foo Fighters) And the name change for Jolyne to Irene is a representation of the end of their bloodline conflict, symbolizing how it's all done by it not being "rewriteable" as JoJo (I still don't get Anasui's name-change to Anakiss, but ok) And, at the same time, the Parts 7-9 universe is completely unaffected by the events of Part 6, and is just a mere parallel universe of JoJo, with a lot of different events, but still not directly connected to what happen in our original one Thanks a lot for explaining it and leaving it extremely clear!

These versions of the part 6 cast are completely reborn. Its as if the timeline started over just with no pucci. Its not really "if they survived pucci" its "if they never had to fight pucci at all." Thats why jotaro and jolyne are closer, since without pucci jotaro doesnt have to worry about dios henchmen targeting his family after part 3.

I am blown away by how Foo Fighter's existential crisis served to inform the reader of the circumstances for the ending of Part 6 as a whole. It is incredible, and not to mention ballsy on Araki's part. I figured there wouldn't be a way to raise the stakes of a part of Jojo more than to outright kill the main character in different ways, such as in Part 1 and Part 5 (where Bucciarati is debatably the protagonist). For a story to be written in such a way where nearly the entire cast dies and yet has the weight of their actions carry on and matter more than even they could have imagined is stunning. I love Part 6, and how the ending makes you reevaluate much of the part in a new light. Thank you for elaborating on the context of how Part 7 and beyond connects, and does not connect, to the prior universe. I'm only around 19 chapters in, so the clarification is appreciated. I understood how everything is now new, but hadn't yet given thought to the nature of how Part 7 does not necessarily have to have been set in and after the exact point of where the universe ended up at the end of Part 6. Man, the end of Part 6 really makes a fella expand their mind to new creative possibilities, I tell you what.

I was just going through the ending again to get panels for my next review video on Jorge Joestar. Stone Ocean's ending is tragic but at the same time it is beautiful, from a building hopelessness that seems inescapable to then still have Fate favor the Just, all in the perfect way finally allowing Jotaro and Jolyne to break the curse that plagued the Joestar family for generations. It's a high contender for my favourite part because of it.

There's one little thing I noticed that isn't a plot hole, but just something to think about. When Pucci first reset the universe, he replaced Jotaro with a different man altogether. Since the original Jotaro killed Dio, Pucci may have missed a chance to save Dio. We're not 100% sure how made in heaven works, so it may for may not be possible, but if Pucci visited the 1970's instead of 2011, he could have reconnected with Dio. That said, Pucci was so obsessed at that point that he probably forgot all about Dio.

I just finished the last batch of the Stone Ocean anime. Personally I think the ending was fantastic and I got the jist of it just from watching in the moment. Pucci’s existence has been erased which means no one exists to carry the torch of Dio’s heaven plan, thus no longer endangering Jolyne/Irene, allowing Jotaro to be a present father. This allows her to have a normal healthy childhood, and grow into a normal woman free of the Joestar feud. And yes as fate will always force certain things to happen, the new purified versions of the SO cast eventually meet again and become friends all over again, in a much happier scenario than previous. The fact that everyone’s souls were saved and were given a pure path to walk is what makes me love this ending. It’s bittersweet knowing the sacrifices that were made, but seeing the same people living totally different, objectively better lives, is fulfilling in such a grand way.

one thought I had is that with Pucci's death, I wouldn't necessarily say that a new universe was created, rather that they returned to the original - with altered circumstances - because Pucci died while his stand's effect was still unfinished, kind of like his stand is pulling out measuring tape meaning to hook the end of it onto something to leave it as is, but then when he dies before securing it the tape is let go of and it reels back into it's case
@ChaosBloodNinja2 жыл бұрын
One thing about the continuation of the old universe given by Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe that I think may contribute to the misconception of the reset universe being the same as the SBR timeline is how in the Poaching Seashore chapter it's revealed that the Higashikatas seem to be more well off than they were in Part 4, given their private ownership of the area with the abalones. This makes it seem as though they now have a similar standing to that of the Higashikatas in Jojolion and if taken in isolation one could infer that they are the same family. Of course, this is debunked at the end of the chapter where we see the original Josuke and friends sitting at the table with Rohan, but I think it's still worth pointing out how the proceedings of part 8 could influence Araki's writing even when it takes place within the old continuity.

The clean break between -6 and 7- is one of my favorite things about 7-8(and 9 I assume) it allows Araki to basiclly make a bunch of "jojo references" whether they be fun easter eggs like most of 7 or direct subversions like in 8, they've added a ton of fun flavor to those parts for me

When I read part 6, I took the ending as Pucci's existence got erased and therefore only the lives of those heavily intertwined with Pucci got changed. Part 4 and part 5 wouldn't have much connecting their story's and characters to Pucci and therefore any changes would be negligible. Also that annasui simped so hard he got his wish granted.

9:33 Why would people not remember the reset? I always assumed the survivors of both resets would remember what happened, since Emporio seemed to. Other than killing Pucci, what makes him so special to the eyes of the universe as to retain his memory while other people didn't? I wish the anime had touched more on this subject.

@Ale-km3ux Жыл бұрын
The MIH act wasn’t a reset, it was more time going forward and a new universe being made, Pucci explains that this is why people would remember their fate, and why dead people didn’t come back to life Emporio’s thing *was* a full reset however, just without Pucci One is like being trapped in Groundhog Day, where you remember things that happened in the past, with that past becoming your future, and the other is like time travel, where changing a single thing creates a butterfly effect
@cherie..cherry Жыл бұрын
I assumed that when Pucci died and HIS time acceleration being undone, the new universe that was actually reset meant NONE of it even happened. If pucci didn’t die then yes- people would remember what happened (even though they wouldn’t understand why like Emporio). But *because* of his death, he never existed, and nothing that happens in part 6 ever happened.
@Carlthedrilldude Жыл бұрын
@@cherie..cherry I believe that is the case, yes. Still, it doesn't explain why Emporio got to keep his memories while every single other person on the planet did not. That's my biggest pet peeve with the whole thing...

@masteryoraerasante2 жыл бұрын
I always took the change to be that, since Pucci was killed before the loop was finished, Pucci himself was erased from the whole new timeline, and only things he was involved directly in were changed. Anything from the parts before 6 would seemingly be unchanged, but Weather would either not be kidnapped and would spend a nice life with his sister as sister, or they would never notice they were related and would have a "normal" relationship. Since Pucci was involved with the followers of DIO seeking revenge, and was a main manipulator following his old plans, Jotaro's problems would be less and he would have more time for his family. While that does not explains the better lives of Ermes and Anasui, I would then give it a mix of Butterfly Effect and, well, since Stand Users attract each others as mentioned in Part 4, Fate conspiring for them to meet. Meaning... somewhere there could be a Foo Fighters for them to meet again soon? Would being an Independent Stand (or, well, whose mind is the Stand's and not the user's) allow her to remember the past though, like GER could act by himself during King Crimson's erased time? But would that not mean FF and GER would remember the Eyes of Heaven experiences, even if they were erased from having ever happened...

Thanks, Hamon Beat. My main issue with this ending was, did the other past characters (Josuke, Giorno, Holly, Joseph and friends) knew about the reset and only moded Jotaro, Jolyne and part 6 gang didn't. It will be so weird. But it's clear now. The new universe is one were everything happened quit similarly but without Pucci existing, Jotaro can leave with his family, Wes/weather will not suffer at the hands of the KKK and stuff. The DIO curse is lifted and everyone lives happier. But even if the souls are the same, The memories are not which is why Emporio cries, because FF earlier explained that their memories make their souls. So Its Jolyne but not Jolyne. That's why it's bittersweet and good overall.

I just finished reading this after months of reading it on and off and i gotta say, Jojo's took something that genuinely frightens me with the thought of a repeating universe and made it a beautiful moment w/ Emporio finding his friends alive and well in this new universe. The concept has been used before in Futurama and A Ghost Story but both of those felt really fucking sad and scared the hell out of me. Despite Ghost Story being a kind of acceptance and embrace of the volatility of life; I guess I just have a hard time embracing it. Damn, Jojo's is wild. In the best possible way.
