What Happened During My 8 Hour Layover in Beijing

Hi, nice video! Me and my wife will have 8 hours 30 minutes layover in Bejing and I am trying to convice her for us to go check out the Forbbiden city but she is stressing about catching our flight back, we meet all of their requirements for 24 hour transit visa. Do you think it is enough time for transportation from the airport to the Forbbiden city (spend at least 1 hour there) and back?

Hey! Thanks for dropping a comment, and I'm really sorry for the late reply! The Forbidden City is definitely a must-see, but I totally understand your wife's concerns about catching your flight back. With an 8.5 hour layover, you might be cutting it a bit close, considering the time it takes to get to and from the airport and any potential delays. So tbh, I wouldn't recommend pushing it too much. It's better to play it safe and not feel rushed during your layover.

Hi! I'm not sure whether you can help!! We've got an 11hrs layover and we're given a layover hotel by the airline! However, we'd like to take a tour and we don't really need the hotel but it is mandatory in order to be granted a 24hrs visa. My question is, do we need to check-in at the hotel even though we're not going to stay there?

What are the requirements for obtaining a 24 hour transit visa? My layover is 10 hours long and apparently there are some airports that have a minimum layover time that is required to obtain the transit visa

hey! how did your layover go this time round? we have a 22H layover on a flight from Japan at the end of June. Did you need a covid test?

Hi! China no longer requires tests; they canceled it on April 25th. So we traveled without any tests, and everything was okay. But here's the not-so-good news as well: Unfortunately, they don't allow people to leave the city if the layover is less than 24 hours, even though they're supposed to according to their own rules. We had a layover of around 20 hours this time as well, and we had to spend a night at the airport. I'll make a video about it soon. 😊

@@expaolafernandez Hi! No, luckily, they no longer require any test or vaccine-related documents. However, they are currently experiencing issues with allowing people to leave the airport if their layover is less than 24 hours. As a result, we had to spend 20 hours at the airport. If you find yourself in a similar situation, make sure to bring some cash with you (yuan) in case you don't have a Union Pay card. This is because currency exchange points might be closed, and they do not accept Mastercard, Visa, or American Express. And in case you decide to go out into the city, check the information about the health certificate (the online form you need to fill in preliminarily on the embassy site to get a QR code). They didn't ask us for it, but you should do it just in case.

QR code is not required for the transit zone, and they didn't ask us for it. However, regarding filling in the form, as far as I know, some people who filled it in wrote "000000" instead of their phone number, and left the address field empty. Others filled in the transit airport's details (both the address and phone number)
