The Arab travelers/merchants came to the island long before the European invaders. They often used this trade routes where the southern tip of Srilanka Galle, Weligame etc was the places they landed n established themselves for their trade hence you get many ancient masjids which should be older than the the churches there. This galle fort masjid is one of them. )in ancient times they were tiny hut like small structures but as the community grew it became bigger. You’ll never see churches turned masjids in Srilanka unlike the US.

Sri Lankan population 74.8 % Sinhaleese budhist 14% Hindu tamil Sri Lankan tamils mostly live in North and east. Indian tamil s in tea estate sector. 8% Muslims , malays, moores, 6% Christians Sinhaleese and tamils Muslim community is very small in Sri Lanka but very visible Every one having a mosque individual basis 😂😂 Sri Lankans, specially Buddhists, is a very tolerant community. So it's a coexistence And inside Fort galle three massive Christians churches and two Buddhists temples two big Buddhists schools operates to date. Entire galle 94% population are Sinhaleese Buddhists.

Muslims are very successful business people and the tamils are highly educated and very intelligent people. Hence they introduced a constitution of sinhala only act after British departure in the 50s, which triggered a turmoil in the country till date. The Buddhists monks are the rulers of this nation. The politicians job is to make minority communities vulnerable and weaker, so the monks have full control of destroying mosques and Hindu temples so they can build stupid Buddhists temple every where. Sri Lanka was once ruled by Arabic Muslims, we have Muslims everywhere in the country. They reproduce very rapidly, within 2050, their population will take over the racist Buddhists. In galle there were 25% tamils rich businesses but now the Buddhists extremist have killed and chased away all the tamils in 1983 riots. The tamil tigers took up arms to fight for freedom which ended in bloodshed genocide of hundreds of thousands innocent lives by the Buddhists extremist. They are war criminals. Tourists should not support this country to fuel for more war crimes against Muslims and Hindus.
