King of New York is a few beats away from being a genuine masterpiece. Primm is correct in the plan being flimsy as h3ll (worse is we don't know what's driving Walken to be so charitable). Also, his love interest/lawyer disappeared in the final third of the movie. Buscemi and Gus Fings were wasted. Also, why were the cops so hard up to catch Frank? Interesting trivia: The Hispanic lawyer/fixer for Frank was almost casted as Jules in Pulp Fiction (he appears in the movie as a bartender).

In terms of the way it's filmed and the way the narrative unfolds, it's one of the oddest feeling films I've ever seen, if that makes sense.
