Jesus man, the announcer - "an iconic piece of NZ history" - and then proceeds to demonstrate that he knows almost nothing about it. Do some research bro.

There’s something happened that was even more disgusting than an under arm bowl. One of NZbest ever threw a young boy over the boundary fence in front of the Bradman Stand at the SCG because the boy fielded the ball before it hit the fence. Funny how I have never seen anything said about this. Don’t say this is BS, I was there and seen it.

Geez Brittenden doesn't follow NZ sport does he and he went to SHC the same college as me where sport is a major thing. Warren's candid account is good to hear, a dark day for NZ/Aussie sport for sure.

It should NEVER ever have happened Trevor should've bowled a yorker and got that batsman out had that have happened there would've been NO controversy unfortunately we can't turn back time and rectify our mistakes!!

Trevor is not to blame as Ian rightly pointed out. He had to do what his captain also his brother ordered.

Has anyone ever tried to roll a cricket ball at an 8 inch target? Almost impossible. Imagine if a ball ar 2 were called wide? 4 to win!
@mludsladiesgentlemen17742 жыл бұрын
There was only one way to deal with this and it lay in Rod Marsh's gloves. Firstly Marsh knew it was wrong - all he needed to do was have a word with McKechnie and walk around IN FRONT of the stumps and take the ball as McKechnie left it. Keeping doing that for any further balls bowled underarm. WHY - because the square leg umpire would have signal No Ball every time Marsh did it.

Jesus, guy doesn't know which year wss that and ehe doesn't even know the venue. Ridiculous. They don't know the exact stats as well. Hahaha it's not hard to google and chcek the scorecard if they don't know. They needed 7 runs to win.

Well. I was in my late teens probably. As long as it's in the rules (like Mankading or leg-theory bowling) it's fair. Even so, the Chappells missed a trick here: they didn't have to resort to underarm. The rule back then was that in case of equal scores, the team having lost less wickets would win. Perhaps it really was too hot. Disclaimer: NZ are my favourite side (even if I am diehard Pakistani), but what's legal is legal.
@davidgraham82992 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure that's right. Don't think there was countbacks like that back then.
@xaphre2 жыл бұрын
@@davidgraham8299 if memory serves me right, it was so. There were one or two international games won by the side having lost less wickets, when scores were equal.
@mattmerritt55412 жыл бұрын
But it’s not like Mankading. That’s a bowler stopping a batsman taking an unfair advantage. This was a bowler stopping a batsman having a fair chance.
@xaphre2 жыл бұрын
@@mattmerritt5541 it was within the rules. So the bowler was utilising his own fair chance. Too many rules are already in the batter's favour. It's about time balance was restored.

Chappell should get a medal for services to New Zealand cricket after that. Afterall, NZ cricket was basically a nonentity and the players from the national team totally unknown by their own public until that happened! If one T.Chappell hadn't have put NZ cricket on the map who knows, the sport might've totally disappeared out of the place.
