This movie was a favorite of mine growing up. Me and a couple friends would watch it all the time, we even had movie hats from the local video store. It is so relatable even though we were just 3 white kids from south central Leavenworth, Kansas. We all knew a kid that had to be an alien. We all knew a “Stacey.” This is a good hood movie. To answer the question about Vanity and Apollonia. Turns out Vanity was set to star alongside Prince (who she was dating at the time. Also RIP to them both.) in his film Purple Rain. She left the project because Prince was cheating on her. Her role was then given to Apollonia as the love interest in the film. Vanity passed away in 2016 just two months before Prince as a result of kidney failure from past drug abuse.
