To me, the big problem with Xbox is the lack of leadership. There's nobody with a clear vision. Identify politics and ESG points don't make good games. They can buy all the studios they want and yet they still can't ship a single game. Look at Halo, Gears, etc. A walking simulator like Hellblade 2 should not take all these years to make. I'm worried about Obsidian's Avowed, it started as their take on Skyrim and now it looks like they've added the cringe from The Outer Worlds.

The Outer Worlds was not a bad game at all but you're right I would rather have a complete open-world sanbox rpg like Skyrim than have the Outer Worlds style of open world.

Someone doesn’t realize that development for hellblade 2 started right before covid hit. Meaning all the mo cap sessions, the flights to Iceland for landscape data, and audio work had to be postponed.

Absolutely loved Emperors Tomb. One of my first memories of getting into videogames was watching my grandad play this on the family PC, and made me fall in love with these. And over 20 years later I couldnt be more excited for a new Indiana Jones!

For me ever since gamepass saw the light exclusives mean noting to me, what I care about is that I get the game for free on day one on my platform. I won't enjoy a game more just because players on other platforms can't play it and frankly I think it is a bit of a f-ed up to look at it that way.

The market is already taken. Handheld for Nintendo. Consoles for Sony. PC for Steam. VR for Meta. Mobil for Tencent. If they really wanted to compete they should’ve acquired Valve before Zenimax and ABK.

That's quite a weird way of looking at it. You are saying the market is full, meanwhile in reality these things are always dynamic. If markets worked like that new companies won't enter competition AT ALL. You say handheld for Nintendo, then what about Steam Deck and all the PC handhelds that are getting mainstream in the last year? There is always competition going on in such spaces.

@@rishabhmalhotra7017 hence why there isn’t a 4th console competing, no handheld could reach the switch or even the DS, not even Epic could touch Steam, look at the highest grossed Mobil games from Tencent. Certain markets are synonymous with a certain brands, examples fast food = McDonald’s, streaming = Netflix. So a specific lane is ruled.

When i played Og Dragons Dogma in 2012, i loved it and was wishing for a sequel after playing the game plus multiple times, and the Dark Arisen Dlc. Now my wish has been granted, and I am looking forward to the sequel. But, like with every game, i always wait months after release to iron out any issues. I've not seen any beta gameplay, so don't know how it's looking and playing, but no doubt it'll be reviewed on release.

I don’t know why being okay with consoles having their own respective exclusives (and wanting it to stay that way) is looked down upon. It gives them identity and creates competition. This Kumbaya stuff, usually only being applied to Xbox and never the other two, is stupid.

People have to do the kumbaya stuff for two reasons: firstly to pose as super mature and non-partisan gamers. Secondly with regards to Xbox it’s because Xbox isn’t doing very well. So instead of facing up to that and seeing that it’s not good for the platform to be losing the few quality exclusives it has, it’s easier just to go into denial and argue that actually it’s a very good thing. In reality, exclusives DO matter and have always mattered. Sony and Nintendo’s success with their strategies shows you that. Exclusives also drive competition between the platforms to do better. Better gameplay, better tech, better content.

Yea, the last thing anyone should want is a homogeneous corpo gaming landscape where everyone releases their broken bullshit games on everyone else's console/system. Exclusives are what build the brand and gain marketshare. Without them and the overall quality of games will continue to decline, the major gaming publishers will cease having their own identity, and eventually most games will inevitably become formulaic ubisoft copy/paste production line corpo trash. I don't want Xbox throwing in the towel, I want to see them put their big boy pants on to compete and produce games I can't ignore so I finally have a reason to buy back in to their gaming ecosystem, rather then them overpaying to buy their way in buy sucking up every company they can.

I played the alpha with my friend of Suicide Squad, and LOVED every second of it. Idk why people are hating without even trying it out. The movement and gunplay are very good, probably one of the best I've seen for a live service open world game.

It’s in the writing of your comment…it’s that it’s got the bones of a live service game, which almost always doesn’t bode well. Your good gameplay can hold out so long as the live service gets implemented…whether it’s grindy, convoluted, spongy-enemies, etc.

People hate because they're burned out on love service games. It's an oversaturated genre that has had a ton of failed duds. On top of that, it's just not what fans wanted. Fans wanted another arkham game or at least something in the same vein, but instead they're getting a live service looter shooter set in the universe of the arkham games (and let's be honest, the arkham connection is just a marketing gimmick)

As an Xbox fan, their biggest "exclusive" is Game Pass. Unless they find a way to get that on PS I don't see them going third party. I totally expect them to put more multiplayer games on other systems though, and I think that's great to get larger playerbases.

Jist look at the sales charts. The games aren't selling on Xbox. Even Starfield only charted in the US and its 15th in tge US for the year. Didnt chart in UK or Europe. MS is a company that wants to make money, just like every other company

We're paying good money for Gamepass though if you think about it. Then still buying games that aren't available on Gamepass. I'm kinda starting to wonder if Gamepass is actually worth it. The price has gone up, and I'm sure it will go up considerably more. But it's kind of a trap.

I don’t see why any Xbox gamer would care if their older titles get ported over. Just more money for the devs and the company you like and the game has been exclusive for years. They’ll get their ROI so long as the launch price is right for an older title on current gen hardware ($40-50 tops for Sea of Thieves at this point for example). That money gets funneled to the devs you like, which goes into their next game, that will exclusive to the ecosystem you enjoy. Why Sony doesn’t do this, I don’t know. It’s easy money.

Game Pass is the future for Microsoft, it should become the Netflix of gaming with various apps allowing it to run on any hardware. Where hardware is limited a streamed version would be on offer. Their hardware would not need to disappear completely but would heavily subsidized by the service as a whole. All platforms would benefit and most importantly all developers would see increased player bases.

Netflix is also gathering momentum with their already growing library of decent (albeit indie) games. They are all currently iOS/Android games but once iPads are on the level of Steam Deck in terms of power they will be competing pretty strongly. Interestingly to see games such as GTA remasters, Dead Cells, 12 minutes, Spiritfarer already there.

Crazy when you have free to play single player experiences like Genshin Impact that are better than the games Microsoft is putting out. I have been largely disappointed with buying my series x. The only use case is the occasional good game like Baldurs Gate 3 that would require a relatively more expensive pc setup.

Xbox is basically running their game rental platform gamepass on the fumes of the xbox brand but its slowly diluting. The xbox brand in a few years will probably not raise an eyebrow. I like playstation consoles for convenience but i feel like then moving to pc is basically pushing me towards portable pc

I think it's inevitable that Xbox will be a fully third party publisher in the near future. Hardware sales are in the toilet and Gamepass subscription numbers aren't growing the way Microsoft wants. The initial reveal of the Xbox One started the problems for the brand. The anticonsumer bs really soured people, even some of their diehard fans. A lot of people jumped to PlayStation and Nintendo and never looked back. The Series S was a mistake too. I get what Xbox wanted to do but releasing an underpowered console was a gamble that hasn't paid off. They should've just released a digital Series X for a hundred bucks cheaper like Sony did with the PS5. Some Xbox fans get upset with the talks of third party publishing but the company answers to shareholders and investors. If they want the hardware division gone, it's going to happen. Microsoft only has themselves to blame for this current predicament they are in

Xbox has so much IP now they don’t need exclusives to sell consoles, they can put all their games on game pass for their systems and make gamers on other systems have to pay for them individually.
