If you want to buy, ask for the price first. Because if it's already wrapped and they know you are a foreigner, the locals will think to raise the price. If you ask at the beginning, usually that's the honest price from the merchant. 😊

It's not really the cost, though, It's the principle of being charged extra. I think it was just by the pasar area, though, to be honest. Everywhere else there was no problem.

sorry that many people tried to charge you with tourist price, its important that you ask the price before and haggle if you think its too expensive (usually snacks and street food maxed out at 20k for a meal like satay probably around 17-30k) also its important to learn a few phrase in bahasa. overall Bandung haven't changed much, its more hectic now but its still ok.

It's ok, most people are great. I love Bandung, and it's people. It wasn't the price but the principle of being charged extra, to be honest. When I went to buy fruit I spoke only in bahasa indonesia, I paid what he asked but I'd been living in Jakarta for a month so I knew the local price. I've spent quite a bit of time in Bandung in the past, I think it was just this area I didn't like. There are lots of better areas to stay, in and around the city.
