Asking Greg Pop how he managed to make Diaw shoot more in 2014 he said "He is trying more shots this season, we always asked him to do so but he just didn't want to. I think it is a psychological thing. He told me he went to some Buddhist monks in Tibet in the off season. I hope they told him to shoot too, maybe that helped."

It’s crazy because Diaw was known for sometimes being too passive but when he was on like he was in 2014, he’s one of the most difficult players to contain. 2014 was his magnum opus. He set the tone for other players like Draymond.

"Boris walks into the gym one day wearing flip-flops and holding his customary cappuccino, which was a staple for him every morning," former Suns assistant general manager David Griffin recalled. "It was during pre-draft workouts, so he sees the Vertec (machine) and asks what it is. We tell him it measures your vertical leap by determining how many of the bars you can touch. He asks what's the highest anyone has ever gone, and we tell him Amar'e (Stoudemire) cleared the entire rack. Boris puts down the cappuccino, takes off his flip-flops, and clears the entire rack on the first try. Then he calmly puts his flip-flops back on, picks up his cappuccino, and walks away, saying, 'That was not difficult.'"

Glad you talked about him. As a french, I have so much good memories watching him playing basketball. he's quite the symbol of what was the "french school" of basketball in the 2000's thant put fundamentals and teamplay above individual performance. TP was a good mix of the american and the french basketball culture for instance. Boris was sometimes criticized in France as well by the coach of national team who wanted him to score more... ofc he didn't bother and he did his own great things.

As president of the club JSA bordeaux in France, he hired himself as a player during the 2011 lockout. He was interviewed about this by French media and said: "Negotiations were harsh. The player asked for loads of money. But the president said "it's gonna be the minimum end of story." "

@thomaslequesne54753 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can blame a player for not wanting to score. Taking too many shots is an easily solved habit, but the opposite is not true. Just like Ben Simmons today, Boris Diaw didn't fit the role teams wanted him to embrace. I think it is more the team being selfish for asking a player to do something he's not comfirtable doing than the player being selfish for refusing to play under those conditions. It has to be immensely stressful to have teammates, staff and media trying to change your game all the time.

I think Draemmond could learn a lot more from watching his game, both positive and negative. I see a lot of similarities in their approach, with Drae being more aggressive and outspoken compared to Diaw wanting to cling to the shadows.... He was perfect but too late for the Spurs. I loved watching him and in 2k playing with the spurs meant I had ball movement on lock. Great video guys... also side note: Happy your hair's almost all the way back Casey.

i think Boris was just horrible against bad coaches.... Silas, Woodson, Iso heavy coach, no system, no high BBIQ, i mean, that could be very hard, to work for someone less intelligent, less capable, with less knowledge of the game... and be asked to play the exact opposite of what you think basketball should be...i have the ultimate respect for a guy like that, could say it selfish (and in a way it is) but also if you watch it closely, you'll see a lot of teams are influenced by teams where Boris was on...( suns and spurs) and copy there style of play...he helps shift a heavy iso basket ball to a team heavy one for the jazz, the spurs, the warriors, etc...stubborn, but for the good cause i would say
