Every time I’ve tried Budgie the task switching keyboard shortcuts (Alt-Tab and Alt-Grave) have been completely broken. Been that way for years. There were very open old bug reports about it. I am a complete nubee to linux in general and even more so to budgie. I have tried a number of distros, many of which have been debian based because they seemed to work straight out of the box, especially due to many others distros having issues with my macbookair 2015 i5 using broadcom wifi drivers. I liked MXLinux, Linux Mint and tried lots of others but finally decided to try the Budgie version of Ubuntu. I have only been using it for a short time but already I feel totally at home and at ease with it. The simplicity is amazing, but the simplicity doesn't mean simplistic, it just works. I mean is a duopoly in the DE side really even that bad, most of the new innovations and features come from those two (Gnome and KDE) anyway. Xfce and Mate exist to not make new features or reinvent themselves but to stay as is and be good at being that, cinnamon too is good at what it wants to do but wouldn't call it innovative and is here to stay as long as mint does, I haven't used lxqt for more than an hour so I won't comment on it. And given how desktop linux works anyone can make their own custom window manager setup if they have the time and desire to do so, and due to the nature of open source if gnome or kde mess up the community or distro makers can just fork them to create better DE like with gnome 3.

Fedora 37's lack of direct support for Budgie Desktop in the images is simply because I got it included it quite late into the repos in the 37 development cycle, and because I simply haven't gone through the Change Proposal process yet for the creation of a Fedora Budgie Spin.
