I think the injury and seeing Foles win the Super Bowl really affected him psychologically.
@antbefinessin Жыл бұрын
agreed, probably had him thinking it wasn’t his skills helping them win when he saw his backup win and get superbowl mvp. had to shoot down his confidence
@Aerisot Жыл бұрын
I do not so much think it was Foles winning the game that did it, but the fact that Philly completely turned on Wentz and built a statue of Foles, even though Wentz is the one that got them that far, but tore his ACL getting that last win lol Made even worse by the fact that Wentz did an interview saying that he hopes to one day have a statue like rocky, and they made one for Foles instead lol
@johnselwitz53623 ай бұрын
@@AerisotThe statue REALLY had to have done a number on Wentz’s psyche. I’m not saying Foles didn’t deserve one but put yourself in Wentz’s shoes. You’re having a great season, the odds on favorite to win league MVP and the main reason why your team is in the catbird seat for the NFC’s top seed. You then get hurt and most people think the team is gonna completely derail, but your replacement not only plays well, he rallies the troops and leads the team all the way to a championship in which he has one of the best performances in Super Bowl history, matching the greatest quarterback of all time throw for throw on the NFL’s biggest stage and is named SB MVP. Then the city of Philadelphia gives him a statue in front of the stadium and he’s the hero of Eagles fans worldwide while you’re almost viewed as a side note. You have to have almost superhuman resolve to not let that mess with your head. They wouldn’t have even been in that position if it wasn’t for Wentz’s play during the first 13 games of that 2017 season but because someone else finished the job, that’s what people remember the most. Most people in Wentz’s position would say to themselves “that should have been me”. Foles is a great example of hard work paying off in life and taking advantage of opportunity. Wentz is a great example of life not being fair.

I can't believe nobody really knows what happened to Wentz, in the 2019 playoffs against the Seahawks, Jadeveon Clowney gave him a concussion, he hit him helmet to helmet hard as fuck, so hard, Carson forgot where he was and what day it was, he had a severe concussion, the worst helmet to helmet hit I've ever seen and the refs didn't even call it, imagine if Jadeveon hit Brady like that

It's actually quite simple, and it was evident most recently in the game against the Seahawks. Carson even as a rookie was excellent against the blitz, because it meant fewer defenders for his receivers which allowed him to get rid of the ball quicker because he had a better chance of having somewhere to throw it. Seeing as his receiving corps have been abysmal since his sophomore year and his o line is getting worse and worse defenses no longer have to blitz because they're getting pressure with 4 and even sometimes 3 rushers. And when you're 4 receivers can't beat 4 defenders they're sure as hell not gonna beat 7 or 8

Everyone blaming the Eagles organization for his short comings like Nick Foles didn't propel the same team he couldn't go above .500 with to the playoffs and to a playoff WIN. Everyone under the sun got blamed for him leading the league in turnovers in the 2020 season but him. I remember the Seahawks game he threw DIRECTLY AT a Seahawks DB and the Wentz fan boys were blaming Doug Pederson for not going for the FG despite being down 20-9 LMAO and I also love how people blamed the O line and receivers but Jalen Hurts managed to do pretty well with those same linemen and receiving core 🤔 all the excuses a human being could possibly come up with were made for this dude. I've NEVER seen an NFL QB be afforded that. Guys like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers played 3/4 of their careers behind terrible and/or injured O lines yet they managed to be MVP caliber QBs for a majority of their careers, imagine that? 🤔 Wentz' issues? Accountability, durability(albeit this particular issue is not his fault) and weak mentality. Guy has so much talent but the weak mentality makes him AT BEST an average QB.

You sure about that? Wentz's mechanics got nothing to do with a WR unable to run his route because he forgot it. It has nothing to do with WRs, dropping the pass or getting smoked by the db. Wentz's mechanics don't account for the head coach refusal to run the ball and use play action. Nor does it cause the offensive linemen to get his ass beaten in the trenches. A QB just needs his teammates to help him make plays not perfect mechanics. Come off the B.S. The Eagles team will play the same way they played last season. Xavier McKinney is gonna break DeVonta Smith legs and the season will be over. The NYG coming to bury that ax in the Eagles. Those boys are soft when I hear them complaining I just burn. The problem is the Eagles players are too soft that's all. They don't scare anybody. Only players I liked were RBs. I liked Blount & Ajayi because they were physical with that mean, fearless, edge. It's actually pretty simple what happened to Wentz and it's something that has derailed other players' careers as well and that is injuries. Wentz has never been the same player since his injuries just like RG 3, Alex Smith, and Colin Kapernick were never the same QB after they suffered their injuries. Even last year when he beat a few very weak NFC East teams to make the playoffs he wasn't that impressive people were just overhyping him like crazy because he won with "practice squad" receivers. If you take out that 3 game stretch at the end of last year Wentz hasn't done anything since his injury in 2017 where he was playing like an elite player. Wentz plays scared now because of all his injuries and his injuries took away his ability to scramble and make key throws outside of the pocket which has really limited his game.

Well, they didn’t exactly waste the pick. They got a bloody Super Bowl out of him, in 2018 and yes, Foles also helped, but he got them the majority of the way. If he wasn’t hurt, who knows. Also, it’s a bit silly to say that Cleveland looks better now, because they’ve only just got in to the playoffs once since 2002 (I think), so the Eagles are still in a better position, especially when Cleveland will lose to the Steelers this weekend anyway. Apparently, Wentz struggled with his ego and kept forcefully pushing his faith, which fair enough if he’s a church going man, but not everyone wants it shoved down their throats. He’s lost the locker room and rather than doing what Aaron Rodgers has done and get some serious motivation to kick some ass with someone being drafted behind him, Wentz may have lost a huge amount of confidence when his was drafted. Who knows. Either way, it looks like Wentz may be on his way out.

TRADED and everyone.. moves on. #2: The 2019 Division round was 'make or BREAK'. Jesus! Watching him limp away was for Philly fans resiminence of 2000 Eric Lindros "last act", skates dragging. 😵

They won their only Super Bowl so far, and there are teams out there, which never won it. So it could be worse. Drafting him was a legitimate bet, but the extension not so much.

Its his character and personality that killed him. Aa a backup most of his career when he did start and tasted success it fkd up his psych and made him believe he was everything which made him uncapable of humbling himself and realizing he needed to get better when everyone got film on him. What you see now is who he really is.

So wild how someone who’s clearly so talented can be barely hanging onto a starting job. Idk how a person can be as inconsistent as him from game to game. Even play to play. He’ll make the most difficult throws look so easy. Throws that only a few elite QBs all time would even try and attempt. Then a few plays later he’ll legit look overwhelmed and have 3 of the worst consecutive drives you’ve seen since he last did it for another team a yr before. Throw an inexplicable yick that has him looking like a back up or 3rd stringer who hasn’t got any reps since the season started. I just don’t get it.

I was never a believer, and I never thought he was very good. Nick Foles fit better in the offense. I always thought that the Eagles should’ve permanently used Nick Foles.
@alphafuryjony24643 жыл бұрын
Well the issue was Foles wanted more money and find a starter spot and once he left, Doug never adjusted his scheme for Wentz and uses a scheme thats favorable toward backups. There are still other issues but thats one of them
