I read Yusuf's CCIE Security book almost a decade ago. Last week, I didn't even bother to get my CCIE Emeritus(lifetime CCIE status). Most CCIEs I know have joined Google, Nvidia, MS, FB, etc. after transitioning into Data,DevOps. I have taken up Data/Cloud and loving it. CISCO is going the way of the DISCO.

@@DavidBombalTech same issue with me for my CCNP journey, every time I plan and start studying, Cisco comes with ambiguous change notification and all it force me to wait for the new course materials etc and at last I lose momentum. A point needs to be made, in the past, I fall slightly short of having qualifying marks of Tshoot exam to become CCNP because I was unable to notice the sidebar to scroll down hence didn't find the correct answer in 4 questions. It was so disheartening for me that, I am not with any cisco certification since then. Finally, Cisco needs to follow exam fees model of Microsoft, the exam fees of MS exam varies from country to country to make the fees affordable for all...

I relate this close to how Microsoft does it and specifically with Azure. It was nice to hear about the Cisco Press releases being dynamically updated as the exams change, however I do worry about other content creation being "up to date" for these changes. That was the struggle with Azure in that you could watch a course from 2020 / 2021 and that course is now null and no longer usable really. Because Networking doesn't drastically change like the cloud, I hope those obstacles don't occur, but the creators we watch will have to be able to update frequently as well and I think there may be a few gaps not mentioned in someone's studies. Overall, seems like a good system, was not a fan learning about RIP or T1 connection speeds. I personally like the CompTIA system of every 3 years -- at least they're consistent, I thought that was Cisco's biggest problem in certification changes in that you weren't really ever sure when the update would be made.

So anyone that pass their CCNA will have their certificate outdated in a year? In two years, up to 40% outdated? This method really benefits Cisco with paying Cisco x-amount of dollars in recertification

David, great content as we've come to expect - Cisco, WTF? I was certified CCNA R&S and Security, then progressed to CCNP R&S. Held these for 10 years, then they expired as I studied and failed 'new' CCNP Security exams. Gave it a couple of years and recertified CCNA, had considered pursuing more Cisco Certs but have found other vendors more exciting and better value for money. Certs are only one way to validate your skills, don't get hooked on the vendor's kool-aid. They all change the goal posts over time, just ask someone who has an old MCSE or older CNE cert.

@josephfilm73
@josephfilm73 Жыл бұрын
They'll always be slightly or wholly out-of-date and hence slightly or wholly worthless. I imagine this is one way they intend to shut down that cottage industry and reclaim it for themselves. If the exams change each 90 days, then only Cisco will have material ready to go. I'm sure they look at how much materials and training are being sold or posted for free online and think they could and should be charging Cisco prices and own that revenue stream as Apple does with their repair business. On the one hand, it will restrict who can enter if it costs $20k for training. But on the other, if you can't pass without their training, it will virtually eliminate the dump and cheat crowd that just memorize the answers from exam dumps and aren't serious about actually learning anything-which is a big problem. (I know a person who owns a tech placement firm who said most of the people placed unfortunately don't last because the companies find out they look good on paper and maybe can pass an interview test but in reality are incompetent and posses only superficial knowlege or don't know what they claim to know--like how in personal ads, every guy is 6ft). It means (for most) you'll need a company to pay for your training and they'll only do that if you are actually worth the investment.

Thanks for the video, but I think too many changes are only confusing, for example if all the world use a Q1-Q2-Q3... system why you have one different? The right direction should be the one to simplify things and not to change them too frequently. Many people do not have much time to focus on burocratic things, they just want focus on the study the contents. I hold a active CCNA but I will not pursuit more than that because I feel too much effort (including rules complicated) in something too vendor close. I also feel that Cisco is loosing a bit value compared with the past decades. It's just my opinion. (To be clear I am grateful for the knowledge acquired in networking that Cisco has given to me that I think is still the best).

This is a very good example of how NOT to run a certification scheme (just like Axelos who don't seem to get their act together). Why does it need to be so complicated, when it can be simple? Who cares about Cisco FY except Cisco? Why does a potential candidate need to put up with all this level of unnecessary complexity? Just when I was considering looking into Cisco certs again, this but gave me a very good reason to go vendor-neutral rather than Cisco certs. And, no, the cert is not he beginning or the end, it's the experience and enthusiasm of a candidate that matters most. Certs are good for formally capturing one's knowledge at a specific point in time, reduce hiring risk, a filter for ignorant HR staff and possibly some evidence of CPD, but that's all there is to them. Well done Cisco shooting yourselves in the foot. Hope it works out for you ;-)

Cisco did an awful job communicating the changes in exams and certifications during the last certpocalypse in Feb 2020. Yes they told people it was happening, however they did not do a good job of informing people exactly how this would affect them on their certification paths. In fact I'd say they were negligent in their handling of it and many people got burnt and lost the ability to complete their exam tracks due to the misinformation Cisco put out. This is going to be a mini certpocalypse every three months, so if you are on a cert track which is three years long you may have to go through twelve different certpocalypses to achieve your certification. Yikes! Just more unnecessary red tape.

Why is BGP and OSPF in both ENCOR and ENARSI? And then EIGRP only has concepts in CCNP ENCOR. Then about 1/4 of the CCNP ENCOR Enterprise is marketing material and brochure reading. That's what I don't like about it. I think we definitely need to know what VXLAN, SD-WAN, and things like that are. I think routing and switching should have been left out of this ENCOR process and left as route, switch, and T-SHOOT with a few new technologies added to switching with VXLAN.

The particular skill certifications were wonderful. There was no need to do away with them. The visionary changes are not necessary. With the new exam requirements, there are evidentiary weak consolidations of the suddenly imposed certifications. In addition, the changes also wastes the knowledge of students who worked to achieve the rudiments of the individual certifications.
@Douglas_Gillette

This is just my opinion and personal experience- Cisco Certifications are not as they were in the past. Cisco is mostly marketing their new proprietary technology. The important fundamentals of routing, switching and tcp/ip are barely touched. This is true for a lot of certifications. AWS is mainly pushing their proprietary AWS lingo. Some even say it is brainwashing.

@@mr.castle My opinion is probably not, but it depends on your situation. Where do you live? I am actually an enterprise/cloud architect. I advise most people to train for an architect role. The skills and knowledge you need to be an architect are not really taught or covered in any certification. You are probably thinking about AWS architect certifications, but those are actually more configuration and engineer focused.

Please keep in mind guys the Cisco is a product like a product in a grocery store. The grocery store has all the corresponding standards that even Cisco and other vendors have to follow. So im saying that to say this, dont focus so much on Cisco but focus on protocols that are standards across-the-board. Focus on standardization!! Not everything Cisco offer will become a standard that every company must follow. Learn computer networking in a standard fashion instead of a product to product fashion.

And that's not even taking into account the endless typos. It would be far more valuable to the community if instead of rushing out to release a book the authors actually sit the exam and then start putting together the book based on the exam experience and the blueprint.

The hell with Cisco Exams - I'll never write another one after doing CCNP Wireless, they just chucked it out. I then did Encore and learnt nothing - just theory. Not worth my time any longer,

Thanks for the information. I don't think I like the change. They're making blueprint content a faster moving target. Book addendums for errata and content updates then errata updates for the new content 😂

This sounds good in theory but it will drive so many people away from cisco certs. You can add new topics each year but will the learn material be able to catch up that quickly? I dont think so. Tje brginning of down fall

yusuf is not concerned about the network technician being uptodate or having the latest cert but cisco needs money its making our live difficult . i did my certification back in the 2019, but its to much stufto go through . but if any one goes to comptia exam cert and follow professor meser . its easy to grasp . by by cisco .

CCNA 200-301 syllabus is based on six knowledge domains. Cisco has moved troubleshooting to CCNP so that CCNA is now a foundational certification. The following is a list of topics removed and no longer tested. Some unscored questions appear on the exam for research purposes only. OSI Model, Ethernet Frame, Switch Stacking, VTP Inter-VLAN Routing, OSPFv3, BGP, RIP, GRE PPP, MLPPP, PPPoE, APIC-EM, IOS, IP SLA All Network Troubleshooting Topics
