In the early 70's when I was around 6, I still remember sitting on the stairs listening to Monty Python while my Mum, Dad and older brother watched it starting at 9pm. I grew up on on Python and went on to be a slapstick performer and running my own touring circus for over 25 years, always inspired by the Pythons and especially Eric Idle oh and John Cleese with his amazing weird walks / movements and scatterbrain-ness.
@KarrierBag10 ай бұрын
Oh and one of my still best friends Steve, we sat and watched The Life of Brian on VHS (yes was a dodgy copy), ok saw it when we were about 15 (1981/2) and had a few smokes and watched it he says 7 I say 6 times in a row and just lived it.
@watchreadplayretro10 ай бұрын
I made a huge mistake back in the early 80s by not watching any of it (them) simply because around 3-4 friends kept bloody banging on and on about it at school, stating famous lines "Or I'll Fart In Your General Direction". It became annoying and repetitive so it put me off seeing it! I caught up in my early 30s finally sitting down to watch the series and movies and wow talk about regrets! Not that I didn't love it as an adult, but to be one of those annoying people endlessly quoting silliness, that would have been so much fun at school! lol Great to hear your inspiration and touring circus though, imagine if like me, you had missed seeing them at an early or even young age, might have been stuck in an office 9-5 for those 25 years! Yikes!

Been a fan since a teen. Back when I owned a house with my ex we had another couple over for dinner. Being that guy was a Python fan I broke out my copy of holy Grail. I am a total Monty Python obsessive, I have virtually everything Python ever released as well as almost everything from their individual careers. That's a lot of collecting and a lot of stuff. Eric Idle is my favourite Python, I just adore him!! However, with the exception of 'Nuns On The Run' he has sadly never really had any big solo success that wasn't in some way related to Python in the way that Cleese had Fawlty Towers, Palin has his travel shows, Gilliam and Jones have/had their movies to direct and that's a real shame because he is so talented and so funny. I'm not sure why it never really happened, and we are now 50 years on since the end of 'Flying Circus'
