Confidence. There were flashes of frank in ny that we’re great, but w changing coaches and philosophy caused him to change his natural position. He went from a pass first defensive pg to a catch and shoot 2 guard. Coach’s never allowed him to grow and didn’t even allow him to do what he did well. There were stretches we needed defense and he had DNPs. I truly believe circumstance can make or break certain players and being drafted to a team and organization who believes in you is extremely important

Agreed. Spot on about the coaching during his stint with NYK. Every season there was a different coach - zero continuity, zero stability.

Yeah i agree with some players need to get drafted to the right organization for their development, idk why frank suddenly made to be this 3&D guard when shooting is not his forté.

I think Franks biggest issue is he's not a quick burst athlete so that combined with a very inconsistent shot and a weak handle makes him a very limited player on offense in the NBA. I think he could still maybe make it in nba if he figures out a consistent shot and becomes strictly a 3 and D guy. Needs to go to a really bad team that'll give him the minutes though and that's not a likely situation as those teams have other younger guys they'd rather give those minutes to.

From the highlights I’ve seen of him in Dallas it seems to me as he’s gained more confidence in his role on the court as a guard. You’re right in the sense that his offensive abilities are still lacking. But I think his main problem is consistency overall, could be linked to confidence but not only. If he chooses to keep improving on his confidence and consistency in his overall gameplay he’s got some pretty decent potential I believe, but he really shouldn’t wait more to tap into it.

I remember Knick's fans trying to cheer, because they were undoubtedly aggravated with another reach with some young foreign player. But they had the right to boo on this one, I remember there being so many other better more proven players that they could have went with that draft. Terrible. I had to KZbin this today just to see what happened to dude.

Huge Knick fan and watch this kid play almost every game. I agree, confidence is one of his many issues but his biggest weakness is his basketball IQ and Court Vision. He doesn’t read the defense well, he doesn’t get the ball to the right person, his handle is lacking for a point guard and can’t shoot. The only reason he gets minutes is because of his defense. At best he will be a 3 and D type of player like a danny green. But I see no hope in that shot. He just doesn’t have the stroke, something you cannot teach.

Frank will get an extension offer from Dallas in the 3yr 9/M range. Question is will he take it. He’s the perfect 3rd or 4th ball handler as he can both run an offense, catch and shoot competently, unselfishly distribute and play exceptional defense. He’s the ideal backend PG off the bench once you get into the dog days of January and February when the whole team is nicked up. He can win you a game with clutch 4th quarter plays. Even in the playoffs he’s perfect to throw on a Paul or Curry to give those guys hell for four or five minutes. Wear them down and frustrate them. I love the guy just like I love Powell, Kleber, Josh Green, Pinson, ect……great dudes with singular skills every team needs to keep the culture strong and make playing regular season games in March fun. Priced correctly they are invaluable to a winning culture and a playoff contender.
