OMG, absolutely gutted to hear what happened to your venture. I just finished your long form farm tour interview with "Grow Your Greens" and hoped on over, to find disaster struck! I hope better times have allowed your gardening passion to take you to new heights another way :) Blessings from UK

Thanks for the closure. Might sound strange but I kinda bonded with you in a fellow entrepreneurial kind of way and then you were gone. My wife and I were inspired enough to start our grow and up until corona hit were up to 150lbs/week. It’s true, the mushroom business is a bit of a ball and chain. We will continue, and just want to stay around 200lbs per week in our home garage with no employees. Will be training family to handle non-technical stuff so we can take trips now and then. Love your honesty, humility and transparency and especially that you delve into every little detail. This is what makes you a gifted teacher. Too much vagueness in our world today. I echo what another fan said; that we need good instructions on self sustainability now more than ever before. You are right where You are supposed to be right now. God bless you and looking forward to your vids. 🍄❤️🌿

Thanks for sharing. I thought it was lack of sales, profit, divorce, etc etc. I reached out to a contact of your's and they said "You were out", but didn't offer more. Glad it was just a location thing. The electrical was likely very solvable with a redesign. My neighbors complain about the smell too (cooking 100 x 10 pounders at a time). It needs to be discussed more in youtube videos. Thanks for warning everyone! That took guts and humility! Two VERY valuable qualities you obvious have...

It's great that you finally made this video and the viewers got closure. It's sad that you won't be making any new mushroom content, you had a unique take on the business which was refreshing. About the channel's name, maybe you can try something that encompasess everything to do with growing like "Growing with Jewell" or something like that. I'm not from the states and idk on what grounds they sued you so i don't really understand and would love to see a more in depth video explaining it but if not that's fine too. Good luck in your future endeavors!

I was wondering what happened, thanks for the update, sorry to hear about your troubles, just a small something from my side, You did inspire me and I learned alot from your content. , when I started growing mushrooms about nearly 2 years ago, you're videos and content inspired me to achieve a point where I can supply exotic mushrooms to our local restaurants as exotic mushrooms is not something you find in south africa. It's mainly button mushrooms , fast forward up until now. I've eventually started my commercial farm, however the Corona virus is holding me a bit back, but when this pass I'll complete the setup.. And ps I'm based in Cape Town South Africa. So just so you know, your videos and effort you put into doing all of that, helped me achieve my dreams. Thanks again and best wishes with your new channel. Eugene

THANK YOU for all that amazing shared information AND thank you for NOT taking it all down. I was really saddened to hear what you've been through and grateful you are not like most and sugar coating all the bad and good stuff. From the beginning you have shared all the good bad and ugly. This is why I really dig ya sista!!! Lastly, 6 weeks into COVID 19, I am out of work and giving our home grown mushies, oysters...,more love and started a garden. Being from NYC, I too am new to gardening and hope to find love in this hobby. Hobby that possibly will sustain our lives. Who really knows. But whatever- I am getting ready and following you!! Earth Jewels, Soil Jewels is all I can come up with. Good luck to you and keep it up!! MUSH LOVE to you from one sista to another!

We are so glad to see you back. My husband and I have been watching you since 2018. We fully understand the difficulty of a mushroom growing operation (we own a farm in eastern Canada and grow mushrooms for year-round revenue). We almost got shut down because of insurance problems, but we got that all resolved. We are so sorry that you are not growing mushrooms anymore. Your videos were very informative and pleasant to watch. Our farm did not grow vegetables, but because of food security in our area, we are deciding to start a market garden and start growing our own vegetables, so we will still be watching and learning from you. Again thank you. As for your new name, what about Jewell's Food after Fungi?

Looking forward to the gardening videos. I've been a semi market Gardner for awhile, but with the recent situation in the world there is alot more interest in growing food so I'm trying to take it up a notch. your wealth of knowledge and passion towards the earth as well as the financial viability of gardening would be greatly appreciated. As for suggestions on a name, just off the top of my head, "funky farmin", "gardening with jewell" , "glorious gardens" (ok the last one is kind of cheesy, but u know us earth nerds😉). Many wishes of safety and peace for your family.

I know this is 4 years after this video but I have to say I am heartbroken for you. You really got a raw deal. I just started getting into mushrooms and don’t intend to grow them commercially but you never know. Anyway I just discovered your channel and I have to say it is one of the most educational and eye opening information on what it takes to grow mushrooms commercially or just as a hobby. I’ve learned so much for you. I wish you had started or someone had started a gofundme to help get you out of that mess. I’m sure you grew to love what you were doing and can only imagine the heartbreak and anxiety you and your family went through over this issue. You didn’t deserve it. Maybe one day mushrooms will catch your interest again and you will start again as just a hobby at your home and share your experiences once again. Good luck in your garden and everything you do. I wish you all the best. You deserve it. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Thank you for being so forthcoming with your update. I've been thinking about this channel, and your business endeavors a lot lately. I've been doing the "Wakanda Forever" salute in lieu of shaking hands, and it reminded me of when you'd do it. Your gardening stuff was nice, and your mushroom/business content was next level. I appreciate all of your efforts. I spoke with a master contractor buddy of mine about my plans to ultimately get into indoor grow and gardening. He mentioned a bunch of things that would be major challenges, then extrapolated the difficulties I'd have if I wanted to lease a warehouse or commercial facility. I say this to empathize with the challenges you voiced. I'd probably have to stick to a simple structure with a cement slab floor on my own property when it's time to get going. Importantly, I want to say this... You totally have the "chops" for business. I remember being impressed by your fiscal outlook on things, and your detailed marketing plans. Furthermore, you demonstrated the ability to make shrewd decisions and facedown the lawsuit instead of cowering from the issue... Most people cannot do that part. All is well. Glad you're doing well. Peace to you. Wakanda Forever.

It is wonderful to see you again! My love to the family. Thank you for the update. It enlightened me to hidden obstacles involved when dealing with attitudes of operating near others and other businesses, especially in a city environment. But, I suspect this is not the end of funky fungi after a period of recharging your health's (mentally, physically and financially) and a bit of too much restlessness. Another channel I follow is Brian Callow from WTF (What The Fungus) based in Canada near the Washington boarder. I have followed him (like you) since the beginning. I believe you can benefit from his business model (growing mushrooms out of greenhouses). I know you are most alive when you are impassioned in something you create, build up, and can call your own, and not suppressed or hindered like a caged rabbit. You did not fail, but just had a false start. It will be up to you to come up with contingency plans per your environment if you wish to continue the race. I enthusiastically look forward to the content you present in the future.

So glad to see you again. Lifes lessons eh.. Glad to see you pick up and adapt. Do what you love. Have you incorporated permaculture/perennial food crops? Could offer a way to be able to take vacations without the worry that it's all going to fall apart without daily maintenance.

So Sad, my mate and I loved watching your videos and gave us inspiration when we needed it. We can only grow 6 months of the year here (mushrooms) in Australia because it gets to hot and we don't want to have to spend a crap load of money on electricity just to grow. (well maybe one day) We have only just start back into it and using the same strain as last year as we kept them doorment until now. Glad to see you have come out at the other end and happy to be back in the garden. Being from Australia we do loads of gardening, so I will keep watching and just want to say thank you for all the content you made. Good luck with all the bull shit at this time in our lives with the Corona and riots. Black lives do matter and even know we don't have as much racism as America we understand it, due to the indigenous Aboriginals here in Australia. Good luck and big hug from Australia.
