‘Don’t let the Sun catch you crying’ is one of the greatest ballads of all time. Could have been a jazz standard.

Yes, yes it definitely is. Gloria Estefan does a very nice version of it.

We ( my Family) restored a '64 Chevelle to these oldies. I feel it really focused my Kids on a time passed away and focused on university degrees and what lifes about. We still play the oldies with my Grandkids today and still have the Chevelle for weekend driving.

Another of the British Invasion bands that were right for the U.S. at the time. What a great time it was. I was about 11 years old at the beginning of all that and it was great. I started playing drums about 1964 and still play. Thanks for these great postings.

I have the CD " one to one " which is just Gerry Marsden and his acoustic guitar playing his hits solo and telling the story of Gerry and the Pacemakers. If you are a fan you need this one.

I was born in 1970 and have been in Canada since 78. My aunt sang in clubs when Gerry was first starting out, apparently he was a postman (if I remember her story correctly) before he got famous. Ironically I had a poster of YNWA on the Anfield gate in transit when he passed. I cried. Finally got to see the film Ferry last year and cried then too. Gerry riding down to Woodside and onto the ferry through the walkway I had walked many times as a child and I recognized Speke Hall instantly. The ticket booths are at the Wirral Transportation museum which currently isn't operating due to bureaucrats.

Gerry had a terrific voice and the band were talented musicians. I wish those early recordings had been better quality

Way back in another century, Paul McCartney did an interview for Playboy magazine and in it he told of how in the early days of the Beatles, the band they all feared as their greatest competition was Gerry and the Pacemakers. He reasoned that the only real advantage they had was the Pacemakers had one song writer while the Beatle had two full-timers, one part timer and one occasional song writer. It's an interesting and possibly correct point of view of a lot of the 60's British bands who only lasted a year or two in the public's eye and then disappeared..

They did cover of "It's Still Rock'n'roll to Me" by Billy Joel in 1985, which only be found in some compilation albums from Gerry & The Pacemakers

Well, as long as they're reunited with each other in the stars up above, then we shouldn't be bad one bit that they're no longer with us. RIP Freddy Marsden, Les Chadwick, Gerry Marsden, and Les Maguire, and thank you for the music! 🙏
