He's a wonderful actor. Unfortunately, that kind of talent does not guarantee that a person isn't a complete shit.
@kitsworld
@kitsworld 7 ай бұрын
And similarly, having one socially unacceptable "kink" does not guarantee that a person IS a complete shit. He may only be a partial shit. He could also be a charming, delightful, funny, intelligent, kind, caring, and loving person. The world isn't black and white. And, until the scandal, he seems to have been popular and respected by his peers. So, not a total shit. And society - with its ever shifting standards and never-ending hypocrisy - is quick to condemn. Look at Oscar Wilde. Sentenced to hard labour and labelled a "pervert" for the crime of being gay. And Alan Turing, similarly, was chemically castrated. Both men now universally revered. All JJ did was possess some images which were considered *at the time* to be indecent. Who knows if they really were, and by whose standards, and if those standards were objectively fair? And there have been many instances of mainstream filmmakers filming "minors" in the nude. They weren't accused of any crimes, because what they were doing was "art". But who gets to determine what is art or not? It's subjective. Look at a film called "1900" starring Robert De Niro, Donald Sutherland, and Burt Lancaster. It includes a scene of two prepubescent boys (aged around 13 or 14 at time of filming) comparing penises - in close-up. One of the boys has an erection. It is shown, close-up, while he masturbates. This is a respected mainstream movie. Nobody was forced to sign a sex-offender's register. What JJ did (allegedly) was art - according to him. I'm not saying he was right. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been convicted. I'm just saying there is certainly more to the story. And even if he was guilty, it would be overly simplistic to right-off his entire character. Everyone has kinks. Everyone has secrets. No one is without "sin". Celebrities are just canon-fodder and easy targets for lazy KZbin channels.

4:07 - The movie is called “Transylvania 6-5000”, not Transylvania 6-500, as you called it.
@spddiesel
@spddiesel 7 ай бұрын
Came to say this. The title is actually a phone number, way back in the day people would use a word and a single digit for the 3 number exchange (usually in advertisements), with the first two letters of the word representing the actual numbers. So "Transylvania 6" translates to 876 (TR6). "Butterfield 8" is another movie that uses the same type of nomenclature in the title.

I saw the Alien Encounter back in the late 90's, and that was fun, but didn't realize when I went again in 2017 that the fallout from Jeffrey Jones helped lead to swapping to Lilo and Stitch, as some thing from the original ride still exist even in the current iteration of the ride.

_Howard the Duck_ IS awful. It never picked a lane. It jumped back and forth from "wtf am I watching?" to "how is that duck dude breathing in space and able to scream?" Why does he speak English? How does he form words with a rigid bill for a mouth? Why would he be sexually attracted to a hairless pink monkey? Why would SHE be attracted to a middgget in a bad duck costume with his eyes bulging out of his head? So then you go, "just suspend disbelief, sit back and go with it." Ok... How? It seems like a comedy but Howard is immediately set upon and nearly beaten to death by numerous different people for no reason throughout the movie. Everyone seems to be trying to kill him. Then he makes a wise crack while Tim Robbins jumps around like a buffoonish virgin overreacting to everything. Then Jeffrey Jones brings some gravitas to the film for all of two seconds before transitioning into a really lame excuse for an actor. Then a murderous rage monster. Then he walks into a nuclear reactor and still has his clothes on that didn't burn off and aren't radioactive. Then he turns back into regular old Dr. Jennings, complete with all his combed hair that fell out, non destroyed lab coat and his voice returned to normal, despite that thing that came out of his mouth into the cigarette lighter. It was like he never turned into a monster at all. The special effects were grade school quality bad. The movie was a hot mess and it was all over the place. I don't know why George Lucas allowed his name to be associated with this garbage. He certainly wasn't the director. It should take back its "Worst Movie Award" which was given to _Battlefield Earth._ You're right about the lovely young Lea Thompson though. Wow 😍

It would make sense for this to be reported if physical evidence existed. Let's reconsider the situation: 1. In high-profile cases involving public figures, the existence of physical evidence is often explicitly reported by the media. 2. The lack of clear statements about physical photographs being found or presented in court is notable. 3. The charges and plea deal could have been based on testimony alone, without physical evidence. 4. Media reports often rely on information from law enforcement or court documents, which might not always distinguish between allegations and physical evidence. 5. The detailed descriptions of the alleged photographs (cowboy hat, stuffed animals, etc.) could have come from victim testimony rather than actual photographs. Given these points, it's entirely possible that the case against Jeffrey Jones was primarily based on testimony rather than physical photographic evidence. The absence of explicit reports about physical photographs being found or presented in court supports this possibility. This situation highlights the importance of critical reading when it comes to media reports on legal cases. Often, the distinction between allegations, testimony, and physical evidence can be blurred in reporting, leading to assumptions about the nature of the evidence.

I'm torn. There are things I like about this, I like that you separate the art and performance and recognize the talent, and his contribution to the art. I also understand the reason for his downfall, and I am with you on it being abhorrent. What I don't really like is your mining the history and presenting it as entertainment in an admittedly well-produced video, technical expertise is stellar. But beating the man up, catering to the "once a pedo, you're dead" narrative for clicks because your numbers matter just sucks. I'm glad he's still a working actor. I'm glad he has a chance to make a living with his craft again. I'm certainly not gonna let him babysit my kids anytime soon. Which is meaningless because I don't have kids, but just let it lie, there are far more important things that you could use your skills for.
