J.J Barea was a crucial part in that Mavericks team. He always left everything on the court, in the NBA and for the national team. As a puerto rican, J.J has been an inspiration for all the prospects in Puerto Rico.

You gotta respect what this guy has done for the Mavs and his Country. Those who thought being 5'9 was a hindrance in basketball esp in the NBA are eating crap until now. MC loved him for his attitude in practice and proved his worth in the 2011 Finals alongside vets like Kidd, Terry and Dirk (who was doubted by many most of his career). Heck even in his final year he was still productive..a position will definitely be waiting for JJ once he hangs his jersey.

I attended Power Memorial with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. But, I'll confess that I m not much of a basketball fan. This is the 1st time that I've heard of J.J. Barea. I saw the Carmelo Anthony video. He is constructing new basketball courts in Puerto Rico. The video also shows Carmelo actively participating in community affairs & looking up his family residing in Puerto Rico. Then I saw the Butch Lee video. His contribution to basketball is mind-boggling. He retired and opened a restaurant in Puerto Rico. Now I'm seeing the J.J. Barea video & seeing his contribution to the great game of basketball. This native Puerto Rican is a national legend. TY 4 opening my eyes to learn about some Puerto Rican greats in the NBA. Just saw an interview with him where he said that he didn't like playing in Minnesota (Shocker). He said in Dallas he would arrive one hour early and everyone wad already working out, when he did in Minnesota the lights were still off. He also talked about his heated moment on the bench with Love, he said Love blamed the bench players for losing and he felt he had to step up for the bench players as the sixth man. He compared Love to Dirk and said that Dirk was all about winning, that he could care less about his numbers. If he had a bad game and they one he was still tha happiest dude on the locker room. Kevin Love on the others hand would be a smiles if they lost and he had 30pts and 18rebs, and he would be frustrated if they won but he had a bad game.
