I really hope he is still alive. I believe he did and said anything to stay alive as long as possible. Who can blame that? I looked at him as playing a role trying to survive.

Not necessarily...maybe he found it completely different from what the media describes. In the end, human conflicts do not end, and each side sees itself as being right. John was convinced that his kidnappers are right

@@superblackmarketxx You make a truly valid point. A point that I think a lot will not accept but regardless of how John felt we must always take into consideration that it was built on the fear of being tortured, fed propagandist lies or of being killed.

As ISIS fell apart I am certain John died somewhere from a air strike, or stray bullet, or ISIS just killed him when they felt the walls were closing in on them. I've always wondered where he is but he has to be dead now. RIP.

I appreciate the show about this man John Cantlie but I don’t believe the question at the beginning of the show asking where his alliances stood is a fair one. The man was fighting for his life and every time he did a story for ISIS it was a chance for him to live one day longer. My hope is that we eventually find out what actually happened to John and see him reunited with his friends and family. If not then hopefully a chance to find his body and the story behind his death.

@@treycowart8006 Yes I hear you. After watching this I spent weeks thinking about this man and all the daily fear he must went through. The only glimmer of good or of hope for this man is throughout his daily fear of death I hope he found some sort of peace in that or that he escaped or got out somehow and is living some where in this huge world of ours under an alias. I know and understand that the likelihood of him somehow getting out is extremely slim but I do hold some hope. Or maybe one day someone can come forward and tell us where he is buried so his family can lay him to rest where they choose.

@@treycowart8006 I havent listened to this full youtube video but I did listen to the entire podcast series. So not sure how much is not said here that may be said on the podcast. I dont think its distasteful for the hosts to ask this question SIMPLY BECAUSE the US Govt thought he had turned. Others accused him of turning. I think that is the ONLY reason they bring this up. Anthony KNOWS he didnt turn and he was doing everything he could to survive. The govt probably accused him of turning hoping others would believe those words and leave this all behind and not look into it.

I think they hold him in some cell or room gave him just enough to survive and took him out when they needed him… but after Mosul have been surrounded only fighters would have food and he starved to death somewhere in cell or airstrike bomb has fallen on him…why did he go in same place where he was captured before….

"strong feeling" well above any other factor is unfortunately what the hawks depend on to send decent people to the death in slavery or on the battle field because it is easy to manipulate with lies if you are not educated about a situation or don't apply critical thinking to situations though you may mean well.

5:38 it may have been a spontaneous idea to film the scene, but what he says is clearly theatralic and unconvincing and sounds like a pseudo-attempt at blaming UK. What he was really thinking about the situation is difficult to know, guessing about it is like playing 4D-chess. thus I do not find it useful to analyze this as a comment on UK/US policy. to me, the whole story of Cantlie is more that of a personal tragedy of a difficult personality.

Well heres the thing , they lost their territories , since 2018-2019, nowadays ISIS has no more territory to control as it had before their defeat in Baghuz, but this did not destroy the organization, nowadays ISIS is still present in Iraq and Syria and is carrying out a kind of urban warfare because of their numerous sleeper cells, In fact, at the beginning of the year, ISIS launched one of the largest attacks since their territorial lose on a prison in northern Syria in order to free jihadist prisoners, which proves that the group still has the capacity to regroup and plan large-scale attacks, even though ISIS is currently attempting to regroup in western Syria near Deir Ez Zor, where the group seems to be the most active. Then we must not forget the many ISIS franchises that have opened in West Africa and that are also very active also called ISWAP but also in Sinai, Philippines, Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan. Conclusion, we don't talk about it more than before but the group is still alive and active, and I think it is a matter of time before it gradually rebuilds itself in the Middle East especially since the withdrawal of US forces.
@yacinenormandie
@yacinenormandie Жыл бұрын
@Melanie Hale ty , Just to clarify, the name of the group "ISWAP" (Islamic State West African Province) is in fact the name used by their branch in Africa, otherwise the organization itself still goes by Islamic State (IS), as for example their branch in Syria and Iraq is called "ISIS" (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) What makes the organization so complex is the fact that it has so many branches all over the world that has different names. so in the end we just end up calling them ISIS.
