Something else that bothers me about the Goblin King in the Netflixs series is that it pulls that trope of, "Oh, this villain wasn't really evil, they were controlled by this mythical object." For one, it automatically nerfs him as a villain, because in that case it was an object possessing him instead of his own actions. And also it takes away a lot of the responsibility for his own actions. He should've chose to do those things, so that way it makes him a more active character and villain. Give him this, at least his voice actor sounds great.

Can we just.. end the trope of the reedeemed villian in kids cartoons? Easily redeemed villians with tragic backstories are supposed to teach kids to also forgive, but some of the atrocites the villian commits just arent easily reddemable. Doesnt matter if he loves his mom or he was influenced by an evil amulet or they just look cool (looking at you jasper and lapis), those are coppouts. They dont seriously make up for their actions. Its an unrealistic moral. Theres a lot of people in thiss world that arent reddemable, and its even worse to teach them (especially common in little girls cartoons) to try and "fix" them, cause it just leads to toxic friendships & relationships. They should at least do a Zuko or Discord or Amity redemption where they have to earn their trust/ undo their flawed morals

As someone who is an active part of Ninjago fandom, I would absolutely love this. There is a lot of drama they could touch on, so I wonder what they specifically had in mind. Te difference between fandoms of Tumblr and Twitter and the homophobia that comes with it? Twitter Christian Kai? Morality of greenflame? How movie effected the series? Honestly, as long as they mention how this fandom is honestly one of the chillest people when comes to polyamory, I'm fine with any callout they decide to bash us with. Fan since I was 13 and I could count the negative experiences when it comes to my identity on one hand. :D

I loved this series and it really sucks that it's discontinued. Their sets were so much more worth it in my opinion. Lego Friends is less playable and just repeats sets over and over again, like, there has been a million schools, like 12 different vet clinics and another million hair salons. I'm not saying lego friends sucks, I'm just saying it really doesn't compare to the quality you get from the lego elves sets :C Also, I believe their face "tattoos" are actually accessories. They can be taken off and put back on again. I don't remember which webisode it was but I do remember ira taking her crown off.

I'm with you on this one. The sympathetic villain trope is slowly becoming such a dead horse that unless you can pull off a sympathetic backstory or a fulfilling redemption arc, it comes across as really shallow. Some stories need villains and antagonists who just are horrible people through and through, an example being Midori from Your Turn To Die.

However he wasn't a true villain in the true sense has he wasn't inherently malevolent in his actions and the way he treated ppl. He was just looking for approval from his father, therefore he was always trying to do what he thought his father expected of him. What was though to him by his father. In this case he was less of a villain and more of misguided hero.

My problem with cronan is he has a sympathic backstory and motive but acts like a pure evil villain. You cant have it both ways. Pure evil villain mixed with sympathic villain turns out a boring villain.

Yeah, there's not really that much drama. The biggest controversy was backlash when the movie came out and the designs from that film were used in the show. That was an insane level of drama. Then there are minor drama things like shipping battles but that's not really that big of an issue because controversial ships are really fringe. More people joke about those ships rather than support them and the dominant ships are canon in the show so most support those anyway. Lastly, there are some controversies about popular Ninjago KZbinrs or twitter uses being scummy but that's it. All of these are pretty tame and typical relatively speaking. Like it's way less drama than most fandoms have.

My little Lego Elves loving heart has ascended! As a mod from the fandom wiki I loved seeing this in my sub box. You did miss a couple of details such as the chapter books and the third mini-movie. Granted those are a bit lesser known as LEGO never uploaded "Down a Dark Path" to the channel, only on the website. (Which got nuked during the site's redesign, along with a fair bit of other periphery content like comics and lore trivia)

Back when Lego Hidden side was a thing it seemed like it was trying yo appeal to multiple genders. The ghosts were creepy and had cool designs, there was a marketable ghost dog, and half of the main cast were girls with the girl characters being smarter and more capable than the guy characters. (Heck sometimes Parker, who was a girl ghost hunter, had to go out of her way to save her guy partner who I forgot the name of)

Lego isn't so black and white about appealing to only a single gender even though certain themes are broadly marketed to boys or girls. Like I'm pretty sure the male elf was included to appeal to boys even though Lego Elves is generally aimed at girls. Also, Ninjago is surprisingly popular with girls even though most of its fans are boys. Lego even mentioned being surprised by this and made a direct effort from that point on to appeal to girls. They added a girl as a main character and feature her heavily in the marketing material. They also feature real life girls playing with the toys in the commercials alongside boys which very clearly saying "Ninjago is for EVERYONE" with this marketing.

@@Kyanights309 No, I you're right. Lego did initially aim Ninjago at boys and they were really surprised but the positive reception they got from girls too. Like did you know that the Rebooted love triangle was specially included to try and appeal to girls? And I also think you are right about Nya being promoted to Ninja as an attempt to have a token female character. It did feel pretty token initially, although Lego has actually done an excellent job of making her a good character since season 8, especially in the most recent season. She went from token to real character and I really applaud how well she's now written.

Something that just really bothered me about the Netflix show was that Cronan and Rosalyn are cousins. Yes. Cronan is the son of the Earth sister, while Rosalyn is the daughter of the water sister (as stated in the character description of Rosalyn on the old official Lego Elves website). While I don't really have a lot against cousin relationships, since that's kinda normal in some parts of the world, but that it was completely left out of the show just bothered me. It seemed as if the writers just wanted to have a twist and a classic relationship trope.

They are different elves with different elemental talents and we know that elves inherit their elemental talents from their parents and ancestors and share the same talents with their siblings, tho we don't surely know how they will get their talents if their parents are of different elements but hey 2 elements can't give birth to 5 completely different elements and we also don't know the origins of the sisters, they've basically existed from the beginning like gods and goddesses so be fine to see Cronan and Rosalyn being lovers

But the more we think about it, the weirder it becomes, I know Emily was shocked to find Cronan is related to her but not the same with Rosalyn in one of the episodes, implying that Rosalyn maybe isn't related to them even if she's written as Water Sister descendant. Lego isn't good at building depth to the stories and their lore unless they receive serious attention and love from fandom like Ninjago, they make these shows just to advertise their toys so don't expect much

Now I kinda wish Lego Elves was a TV Show released in 2003/2004 it would have been Avatar before Avatar and a Video Game series developed by TT Games during the PS2 era so if they were Critically and Financially successful Lego & TT wouldn't have to make games based on LICENSED Lego brands like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, etc and not share any money to the Studios that owned them.

The Lego Elves sets are some of my favorite sets. The fantasy theming was fun and I loved all the translucent pieces each set used. The Goblin King castle and goblin village sets are especially fun.

LEGO actually also tends to retire their own intellectual properties after a certain number of years. But some shows/sets/etc, such as Bionicle, Ninjago, and Friends, worked so well that they outran their planned timeline. Hence the "Ninjago Reboot Season" and not to mention Friends completely changed as well.

I'm so happy season 4 addressed the Emily powers issue. I was screaming at the screen the entire time. Her grandmother was an elf and so is her extended family since technically Chronan is her cousin and her grand aunts are alive. She can use a MAGICAL amulet. That pretty much implies that she had inherent magic. She even said the 'I don't have the same abilities as you guys do' in the Netflix series.

All shows always start with meeting the magical people, so why didn’t this one? Adding to your question of "Why does Ragana want the dragons" I assume that this was actually because Noctura (aka the magic well) told her to because the dragon queen is actually Lumina. Since both Noctura and Lumina can transform into all kinds of animals and the color scheme of Lumina, the dragon queen and the animals she transformed into are exactly the same, it's leading me towards the theory that they were the same person/being all along. This makes even more sense when you think about how the dragons were mainly absent when the thing with Noctura started (at least that was how I remembered). It might have been something they wanted to include into the series but didn't, because the whole thing was just an unorganized mess. Getting the dragons and the queen, as well as the babies, could've been Noctura's first attempt to gain Lumina's magic by kidnapping her during a vulnerable state (I assume that Lumina is actually a half-dragon and can actually have babies in that state. But because she has to take care of her babies, she must stay in that dragon form for a while) and eventually escape from the shadow world.

Ninjago Drama is one of the funniest things. From Tannerfishies drama to Albrickstudios drama to Greenflame shipping to people who say "ew" everytime they see non-straight ship... Oh and literally making the show creator leave twitter because of constant asking for spoilers for the next installment... The show is good tho and I hope SOMEONE will make a video about it.

This was the closure I really needed for this show (even though I found it like a year later lmao). Late elementary school, me and my two closest friends were ALL about Lego elves. Every time we hung out we would bring the dragons we had and played with them. When I the fourth season ended, we were left with no new content and so the Lego elves were forgotten. I moved away after that and never really got them out again. The childhood nostalgia hit me recently and I wanted to find out what happened to their series. I got the first LEGO sets as a gift and fell in love with this show. I have 90% of the sets (only the biggest ones not), a lot of magazines and most of the minifigures (tbh I think that Skyra girl and some of the goblines are the only one I don't have). I absolutely love this series and the webisodes/Netflix show/mini movies, and it is really sad how unorganized that thing is (three to four different animation styles, big parts of the series just not recorded and only on the website) and how they just stopped the series without properly ending the story. It could've been so much bigger than it ended up, if only they organized it more.

4:50 this is not an issue for me, since even in regular shows I sometimes check if I'm watching the very first episode or maybe I missed the pilot or whatever. it's odd to me that you are complaning about it NOW, since I think we all start double checking at some point with the wiki page. just today I watched a new show and the first episode was so weird and didn't explain ANYTHING right off the bat that I had to check if I missed a pilot somewhere. but it is frustrating af to double check when this happenes. but you gotta do what you gotta do, including me.

i remember they advertised it pretty decently in the lego magazine around the time it first released. i don't think i ever saw a large amount of sets at any given time in the store though, they mostly released them in small waves i guess? it's been a while since i've thought about this though so i could be wrong on the store part

I think the reason why baby dragons wouldn't survive is because of how much attention they need. Parrots can't be alone in the house, they will die if they lose their partner. They don't even have to be sick, they'll just die out of loneliness
