I'm having an incredible happy day and when I saw that "This House" uploaded a new video I knew that I had to have my meal while watching it. I can't stress enough how much more happy it made my day to know that the house wasn't tear down!!! I went the hole video thinking to myself "was it or wasn't demolished?", it was like watching Harrison Ford and Carrie fisher finally kissing. Thank you so much for these videos, I'm in youtube since 2010 and this is one of the best channels I have seen.

I wished I knew more about this when I was growing up in Tarrytown, NY in the 80s/90s. I put in my old address that I lived at and it’s only 8 minutes from where I grew up. 😩 I didn’t learn about Madam CJ Walker and her contributions to the Black hair care industry until I moved out of state. Thank you for remaking this. And I hope you had/have a good recovery.

Beautiful home! It is s shame that her daughter spent most of the fortune but that happens in many (black and white) families the money is gone by the 3rd generation. I know her great-granddaughter.

It would be interesting if you explained the preponderance of heavy curtains in the doorways of these great houses. Heating such huge spaces was very problematic for many decades. The only way to make a room cozy and comfortable was to have a blazing fire and heavy brocade covering the doors to prevent drafts. Even servants in some houses enjoyed this luxury, although they pretty much occupied the spaces around the hot kitchen stoves.

It's ashame Madame Walker didn't get to enjoy Her Wealth and Her Home being she died the year My Mother was Born 1919. I watched a movie about this remarkable woman. I think it was on Netflix. I 1st heard about her on the Antiques Roadshow. I understand that some of her hair products are still available today.

What a beautiful, graceful house! I am so glad it has survived. And what an interesting history about a woman success! She died far too young. I wonder if untreated high blood pressure caused her kidney failure, as that was once common. The exterior, front and back, and the gardens, are just lovely!

Credits to her, starting from a poor background, being abused, losing her treasured hair and even born with the worst family name in existence. So much hardship. She proves that nothing can stop you if you work hard and seize the right opportunities. As long as women and men can excel without feeling like it's a job, they can move mountains

The "saleswoman for beauty products" omits that the beauty products she was selling were from an african-american businesswoman (Annie Malone), her main product was a hair growing ointment. Malone later accused Walker of stealing her formula. It is also disputed that Walker was the first african-american millionaire businesswoman.

It has been disputed for decades and there are some compelling arguments that Malone *might* have made it first, however, it was not documented through her books nor was it documented through tax forms. Additionally, her divorce and the dozens of lawsuits she faced all but wiped out her fortune. Unfortunately, we don't have a time machine to go back and get her side of things. It is possible, but we will never know as there is not a concrete record as there is for Madam CJ Walker.

Please research Annie Malone who is the creator of the products named “Poro”, which Madame CJ Walker learned how to market well from Annie Malone. Ms. Malone is first self made million dollar woman in the US. Look her up!
