Monty is a brilliant and knowledgeable gardener. His book, The Complete Gardener, is a gem. Severe depression is debilitating and impacts on countless numbers of sufferers across the globe. Gardening is very therapeutic and mindful and a great avenue for healing. I wish him peace and send a prayer for recovery his way.

This is salacious journalism, unwarranted and unnecessary. Monty Don's health problems are well known and documented here in the UK, he is totally honest about his personal issues. But these do not define him, he s regularly on our television screens, looking well, and as informative and generous as ever. He's a national treasure and does not deserve to have his life picked over like this.

Wow, this show is absolutely amazing!!! My latest discovery and perfect timing. This is my guilty pleasure after getting home late from work. I can watch the show for hours. It is so soothing and comforting as it reminds me of my mother, my best friend, who I lost recently. We used to garden together. She actually got my sister and I involved in gardening. She showed us the joy and peace that comes from creating something beautiful, nurturing it daily and experiencing joy that comes from seeing your hard work flourish and grow. As her Alzheimer’s condition worsened, I remember bringing her outside her home and showing her the beautiful flowers in her front and backyard. Her next-door neighbor and gardening buddy would spend hours outside planting flowers after she retired from teaching. As her body became stiff and she could barely walk, the joy in her eyes will be etched in my mind forever. After she passed recently, I have tried to maintain her gardens and created small memorials for her with angels and her favorite flowers. This show brings me so much peace and it makes me feel as though she’s watching it with me. I know she would have truly enjoyed it. Thank you Marty for sharing this beautiful gift with us.

How brave of Month Don to acknowledge his depression. It really goes to show that, though everything may look good from the outside, many people have severe difficulties that just don't show. I'm glad that he is continuing on Garderners' world, partly because I love his input, but also he is right in thinking that it will be good for his mental health. It has been shown that physically exposing oneself to daylight and brightness actually helps serotonin levels.

My first depressive episode was at the age of 10. I'm now 68 and my last episode was when I was 55. I used psychoactive mushrooms, and since then have taken care to keep my gut health in order. The gut biome is so important. It's the second brain. Yes, sunshine is also a great medicine, and small doses on a regular basis is very helpful. Stay busy being creative and socialize with supportive people is another key. I LOVE the gardening program and have been greatly inspired by it. By all means, take advantage of psychotherapy, and antidepressants as needed as well. I did. I even made a career providing treatment to mentally ill individuals. God bless, and cheers!

Hello Monty, I want you to know that you contributed to my stroke recovery because of you I decided to sort my garden what a therapeutic journey it was and still is. Being in my garden lifts my spirits and it feeds my soul and that is thanks to you so please do not give up the fight it is worth every bit of effort even when life is difficult and we are at a mental low; sometimes I just sit in my garden, and feel grounded, I love looking at things starting to grow and tasting and cooking some of my produce, i love just sitting with a cup of tea and if necessary a coat on and enjoying listening to the wind in trees, the rain lashing against my velux window, watching the birds what an appreciation of nature you have given me.

If you manage to keep your power, you will feel fine. It is not necessary to spread your energie, your knowledge is enough. I understand you and wish you a real good future. Get your power from above and from the earth and out of your heart. And thank you for so much good work in difficult conditions. All creaturs in the plants and the soil will help you - don't forget the trees, you are one for your own.

There is far more to Montys life story than this.. He and Sarah started a very successful jewellery business which served celebrities and royalty for several years ,until the financial crash of 2008 forced them into bankruptcy and debt Sarahs family had to provide them with a home for a time He developed Long Meadow virtually from scratch. from these difficulties has sprung a beautiful garden A very hard worker and determined character with a great support in Sarah and his children SAD is a common condition in dark rainy cold countries like the UK I would recommend he move to Portugal and try , if not med gardening, Atlantic coast where its NEVER winter...

Dear Monty I love you as I love gardening. Actually I have learned so much from your videos from your stories and trips to different parts of the world. I have always been fascinated by a miracle of growing plants from a tiny seed to mature herbs. Sometimes I think plants are ailiens because they are programmed to survive for ever dispite any sorroundings. Please try to get strength and wisdom from all plants in your garden. Stay life-loving as the 2000- year- old olive tree you once told about.
