That's pretty much what happened to me years ago. I met Muhamed when he worked on his diploma thesis at Mercedes. He sat about 5 meters from my desk. We didn't have any common project to work on and I wasn't his tutor so to me he was only a nice enough young man and we never talked much except for saying hello and goodbye. After some time he was gone and I assumed he had finished his work. About a year later I needed to speak to his former tutor. He was just trying to online register for a metal convention and deciding whether to attend the cast iron or the aluminum alloy speeches. Jokingly I asked about speed or death metal. He looked at me and asked if I listened to such stuff. I told him yes. So the next day he borrowed me his copy of Epitaph and explained that the young student was in a band and had given him the CD as a gift when he left. I didn't expect much, as all those "brother of a friend" bands usually are pretty bad. Boy was I wrong lol. Muhammed had quit university to go on tour and several years later he picked up again, finished and indeed became an engineer at BMW. Don't know about climbing up the ranks. While Necrophagist released only two albums, both albums are great in the genre and without reproach. They entered the metal stage at their best and left the same way, which is something respectable. In their touring during 2009 they played a new song "Dawn and Demise" which teased us with the mythical 3rd album that never came out.
@viktorsexpression68322 жыл бұрын
Necrophagist was that band , that influenced my guitar playing most. I looked for good tech death since then, and there are great bands that's for sure but necrophagist was something else. Melodicality connected with technical and theoretical side was one of the best. Many tech death bands, struggling to sound melodical and yet technical at same time, to not sound like random shredding and mindless fast techy rhythm. But necrophagist epitaph to this day has not been beaten. Muhamads brutal growl voice added with those sweats riffs , with Hannes Grossmans blast beats for me was and to this day is best thing that happened to Tech Death.

Epitaph was the album that made me want to perfect drums; not to pick up and start but to stay dedicated to practising technicalities and music as a whole. I'd now sing along to the Backstreet Boys in glee because Necrophaghist taught me to appreciate music as a fundamental form of art that can be expressed in any way the musician chooses. This had roll on effects that are still characteristics of how I view the world. Necrophagist were quite literally life-changing for me and notably for other musicians - they deserve every shade of glory that could possibly be shared as it is absolutely right that you can hear some Necrophagist in all death metal since.

AFAIK Muhammed is extremely perfectionist person and since a lot of technical band emerged ...maybe he is affraid to disappoint. A new Metal Health video! Man, my wife and I gladly wait for new content from your channel. You keep it fresh and well narrated, like a sincere and heartfelt debate among metalhead friends we wish we had haha. Hope you keep this channel going and growing, already subbed for a while. Do you make content in another social media? Though I've never been into tech death, I certainly share many of your musical tastes like most things you quote on your other vids, so gotta check Necrophagist and give it a try. Dude, that wish list in the end of your video was on point, never had someone yearning the same album releases, so sad but comforting. Cheers from Argentina! 🤘

That's amazing, man! So nice to hear, you and your wife have great taste in metal then haha! I just have this one account, I'll continue to try and grow the channel but it's certainly harder than i first thought!

hey brother just a heads up the "g" in "Necrophagist" is soft like how it is in "phage", which means "eater" "necrophagist" is "eater of the dead"

I've heard it pronounced 3 different ways by members of the band itself

First Fragment, Inferi, Ophidian I, Arkaik, and Soreption all give Necrophagist a run for their money. Check them out if you haven’t heard of them. I think you’ll really enjoy all the above of you haven’t listened to them yet!

@@tromboneman4517 I use to play with Arkaik back in the day lol I still talk to and see Craig at LA fitness sometimes. I don't know about giving Necrophagist a run for their money but good bands. Can't forget Deeds Of Flesh. Their Album Of Whats To Come is next level. Craig from Arkaik actually joined them some time after that Album.

The third album has been recorded since 2008. However, it will never be released because Muhammed breached the contract he had with Relapse Records since 2004 of some albums for separating the band in 2010. So Relapse Records as a result of this, they stayed with the name of the band. Contract and business stuff, nothing personal. I hope that if one day he returns to play and create music, he will do it from deathcore since he has a lot to contribute in deathcore world and also to be more successful being independent. I hope this helps 🙇♂️. Bleesings and good vibes ❤️

Would love to hear what Muhammed had in mind for the 3rd record, maybe it's the same as the first 2 albums or is something different and he's afraid it will upset some fans either which way.

Necrophagist is solid, i personally think it's a shame they don't have more stuff out. Another band that i think is awesome and that also kind of just disappeared is Quo Vadis. would love a 4th album from them, but im pretty sure they moved on to more normal things.

I've got a hunch that Necrophagist grew to being a legend not just because of their music but also because they quit. They never disappointed with their next album. So they became a constant to compare other music to.

It's kind of shitty how Muhammed has talent that 99.9% of guitarists would only dream about and chooses not to use it.

They need to just release the third album as "Necrophagist A.D.'" follow in Entombed A.D.s footsteps. I understand wanting to leave a mark as legend instead of fading into obscurity. Sucks, but i get it.

I just REALLY hope Muhammed still plays guitar at this level. If he never releases another shred of music...I can deal with that. BUT, if he no longer plays guitar...I just couldn't handle that reality. The man might have a great career now, but, he was born to play guitar and write music. While his priorities have obviously changed, I still hope the man shreds, even if it's to no audience.
@TheBrianna4555 Жыл бұрын
He could take a decade off of guitar and be back to 'this' level of playing within a few weeks. Composing at this level, now that is a different story.
